I think the WC has increased Spence's value by quite a bit, even though he was dreadful for most of last season. I am not sure about him, good going forward, but full of mistakes. I would love him to come here and for it to work out, but it needs to be value for money.

Didn't fancy Spence before the WC, but with his good performances there, I'm sure he has now priced himself out of an Everton move.

Honestly I've not known much about him, but he had a storming WC and that's done one thing, raise his profile and raise his own ambition. He will and should score himself a relevant CL side now. Sadly, a few weeks ago, when most were openly mocking him, and claiming he's not good enough for us, we have literally witnessed a player not good enough, become a star. He looked like the player we were crying out for.
But WC form is commonly followed by mediocrity. Not sure we were ever an option either way, so good luck to the guy. We need to sign the Spence pre signing for Spurs and getting into the national team. If we don't get a RB and a striker this summer (3rd summer on the trot) , we are in big trouble. I have faith but time's a ticking.

We actually looked to sign Spence back in the summer of 2022 after his season on loan at Forest alongside Garner as both had enjoyed good seasons on loan there but Spurs signed him and we were still taking our time looking.
He's a good player but his performances at the World Cup may have pushed him out of our reach financially.

He's had a mixed bag at the World Cup, a few good games and some not so good. If his price has gone up, then we should move on to other targets, as someone has already pointed out we shouldn't be overpaying on the basis of a few good games in the tournament.
