I can’t believe how good Newcastle are and spent 1/ 5 of what we have… how have we got it so wrong.

They are having a Martinez season. Will judge them properly next season.

2.) 12 Nov 2022 20:38:40
They haven't spent nothing. They spent over 150 mil this summer on 5 players (isak, trippier, botman, Bruno, pipe) plus almiron, St max, willock, burn, etc weren't free.

3.) 12 Nov 2022 20:57:20
Maybe the manager! And yet again to show how badly we r ran!
We cudve had Howe - he wanted to be our manager!

4.) 12 Nov 2022 21:17:13
They have a good manager and they don't have the Moshiri/ Kenwright team making all the decisions. We need someone or group to come in and get rid of these two.

5.) 12 Nov 2022 22:59:59
Could we be sure in any takeover Kenwright would not be kept on to interfere? I have to be honest, if I had the choice to turn the clock back to before Morshiri, and hold out for someone else, I would take it. Survival and progress before stadium for me. I don't see light at the end of the tunnel, unless its a bloody long one with bends!

So I caused fury on fb…. Let’s put it here…. Do we think iwobi is worth a new 5 year contract…. I said no… he’s having his best season for assists but that’s about it. Poor goal return and relatively poor assists.
On the whole doesn’t do enough for me after all he is a attacking player.

not a 5 yr and not yet, at the end of the season maybe.

2.) 02 Nov 2022 17:43:22
I'm not sure about the 5yr, but definitely give him a new contract ?. It's his work rate, positioning/ movement and passing which most impressive. Hopefully more goals and assists will come.

3.) 02 Nov 2022 18:54:59
We don't have many options, he has been one of our best players but five years is a bit much. Don't see how we can afford to lose him at the moment.

4.) 02 Nov 2022 20:08:23
He’s 26, he’s out best player, our hardest working player and our most improved player. On top of all of that, he’s one of our only sellable assets.

A five year contract makes perfect sense.

5.) 02 Nov 2022 22:17:10
Strange how players improve when a new contract is in the pipeline?

6.) 02 Nov 2022 23:10:16
Ha. Woburn you’re such a cynic!

7.) 02 Nov 2022 20:57:14
Has to happen.

8.) 02 Nov 2022 20:57:35
Can't see anything wrong with 5 years. The longer the contract the more you can sell a player for should you need to.

Not saying we should sell but always better to have your best performers on long term deals and he has been our best performer this season.

9.) 02 Nov 2022 21:27:58
Doubt anyone is comfortable giving any player a 5 year contract after recent 5 year contract failures. But he probably deserves a pat on the back. Not sure how long his current deal lasts but does he need a pay rise? Will he ever earn more elsewhere? Don't see the rush myself but perhaps a small increase and 2 year extension would be better? He's definitely our best player the last 30 games but is he someone who could find himself a squad player again after next summers window? Iwobi Onana and Idrissa are the 3 but 1 is very old and none of them have the "creativity" we blatantly need. Could end up giving a 120k a week 5 years contract to a guy who in 8 months is barely playing. Sounds familiar? Think upstairs are very much turned off with that sort of deal.

10.) 03 Nov 2022 10:29:15
I agree with that brown shoes. Been playing great this season and end of last - but what he's doing now is justifying the contract he has. This is the sort of level of performance we signed him for, so by all means consider extending the length of contract if he wants to as well. But don't see that a pay rise for belatedly starting to reach expected levels is appropriate.

11.) 03 Nov 2022 14:10:32
Yes he is.

12.) 03 Nov 2022 16:25:36
I was shocked at the 5 years. Seems a very long contract and whilst his current form is exceptional, football changes so quickly and 5 years in football is a very long time. We have come unstuck by long contracts recently so combining that with our financial difficulties seems a bit reckless. However, I'm glad he has signed a new contract. He deserves a new contract and it will be good to have him tied down to a contract if interest comes knocking on the door.

13.) 03 Nov 2022 19:13:37
Decent post brown shoes. We may compromise and give him a 3 year deal because I don't think it's all signed yet.

Chelsea are crazy paying up to 60m for Gordon he is no we’re near a 30m player never mind 60m…. He is not productive at all.
I’d sell buy sarr and Diaz.

Are you kidding us pal no where near a 30 million pound player come on pal we had our eyes on mupay for in region of 18 million.

2.) 23 Aug 2022 17:46:28
Young and English played in the prem Carey's a premium. Seel him on to the next one or 5 we can bring through to sell for similar amounts.

There is not a single part of me that would keep him, yes he’s young, yes he’s Everton but what does he actually do?
Does he score?
Does he assist?
Does he captain?
Does he inspire?

For the money I’d sell and buy depay as Barcelona are strapped.
