Got this from a reliable source who works in the club.
Hackney: his preference is to move to us and the club are discussing personal terms with him at the moment. This is not believed to be an issue. The fee is believed to be in/around 15m. It is expected that he will be brought in to compete for a midfield role but not as an immediate starter. As well as him, the club also hope to sign a defensive midfielder (No6) , but no names mentioned as yet.
Ndiaye: there is no fallout with Ndiaye and he has not asked for a move. The club have offered him a new five-year deal which would make him one of the highest paid players at the club. The issue is that his agency want a release clause (around 40m) . Everton have said no to this.

This doesn’t mean that they won’t agree to a clause, but not at the fee his agency want.
Currently the club have received no offers for the player. The club are relaxed about the situation given the player still has three years left on his current contract. Talks will continue after the player returns from the World Cup and the club are confident of a positive outcome.
Wan Bissacka has been offered to the club; no decision has been made yet. Asking price is around 15m. He is currently two years into a bumper seven-year deal at West Ham on 90k a week.
We have scouted Gu’ela Dou’e from Strasbourg extensively over the last twelve months as another right back option. We like him, but no offer has been made as yet.

Getting the two of them in would be smart business. Not only does it give us some depth to a position where we didn't even have a credible starter, but it gives us two completely different profiles. Doue can also play further forward and on the opposite flank - very talented player, much like his brother.

For what it's worth, my brother (who is a West Brom supporter) watches a lot of Championship football and tells me that he considers Hackney to be the best player he has seen in the Championship this season.

Another one I would take GB. We lack footballers in this side. I know the Championship may as well be a different sport, but in terms of ability on the ball, he is head and shoulders above most of ours, mate - but then again, that isn't hard.

Even if we got the players we have been linked with, I wouldn't be committing to such a statement.

The team needs gutting but I do believe that it can be dramatically improved with the right recruitment mate.

If we do sign Hayden Hackney (fingers crossed) , where would he play? Does he replace Gueye in midfield alongside Garner? Hackney isn't an outright ball winner, so does Garner get pushed forward? Or to right back? Does he get sold?

Feel we still need a proper defensive midfielder (or number 6 for those who are into that sort of thing) and even though Tim has improved, he’s simply not good enough once he wins the ball back to keep it.



We do have good options already, KDH shouldn’t be behind the striker, it should be Dibling in my
incredibly humble opinion. But Moyes likely won’t do that.

Thoughts on where Hackney plays and do we need another midfielder regardless?

Wouldn't be surprised if they sell Tim to be honest. There was some interest in him in January, I think he's a good player but could probably make a few quid on him. Like, you still think we need a replacement for Gueye?

Need to get away from thinking about just the starting 11 imo. The game has moved on, and most clubs have, certainly the ones that finish well in the league.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to bring players that are at the level to start, off the bench to replace other starters e.g. Hackney for Garner or Hackney for KDH.

Hackney would be a great signing, but if we're talking about midfielders who can replace Gana, I'd also be looking at Sander Berge (Fulham) , Issa Doumbia (Sporting CP) and Ngal'ayel Mukau (Lille) .

Berge would be the ready-made option for me. He's got plenty of Premier League experience, a real physical presence and looks the type of midfielder who could take over a lot of Gana's defensive responsibilities straight away.

Doumbia is only 22 but looks ready for the next step.

He impressed at Venezia before earning his move to Sporting, and he's got the athleticism and aggression to thrive in a more demanding league.

Mukau would be my long-term pick. The Lille midfielder has a high ceiling and all the tools to become a top player, but I'd see him as one for the future rather than someone you'd expect to replace Gana immediately.

If we could bring in Hackney plus one of those three, I'd be pretty happy with our midfield options going into next season.

I think Berge is a decent player but Fulham would want £30 to £40 million for him to account for losing their mainstay in the middle of the park. He is very conservative in his play and rarely loses the ball which is good but I think there are better DM's out there for me. Certainly better DM's that can replicate what Gana offers us. Gana beats him in nearly every metric on the pitch, other than ariel duels and passing completion and he is 36.

Doumbia has just gone to Lisbon so obviously rules him out and Mukau, as talented as he is, has been deployed right midfield more than DM for Lille this season.

Dismissing the players that are likely out of our reach e.g. Morten Hjulmand, the best like for like Gana replacements, that being a relentless ball pressing/winning 6 would be Morten Frendrup or Kaishū Sano.

Both would jump at the chance to come to us and both would represent decent value in todays ridiculous market.

Frendrup is an elite ball winner. Like Gueye, he consistently ranks near the top of his respective league for tackles, interceptions, ball recoveries and duels won.

He reads danger early and attacks loose balls aggressively. He's not a reckless tackler either with excellent timing. He is top class at stepping into passing lanes before opponents receive the ball. Wins second balls consistently and has the ability to transition his team from defence to attack.

His engine is absolutely ridiculous and covers an obscene amount of ground during the 90 mins. He has also played in a multitude of positions - CM, LB, RB, WB which gives him a top level footballing IQ, much like our very own Jimmy Garner.

Kaishū Sano is very similar to Frendrup in his strengths. He covered the most ground in the Bundesliga last year and ranked amongst the leaders of tackles, interceptions and ball recoveries.

Perhaps where they differ is that Sano seems a little more technical on the ball. He is incredibly press resistant. He has great awareness, so rarely gets caught dwelling in possession and he uses his low-centre of gravity to turn out of tight situations and come away with the ball to start attacks.

Neither of them are ball-playing DM's in the mould of your Adam Wharton but they are there to do a job and that is to hunt the ball down and win it back, give it to the better players and give the team shape.

I would jump at the chance to get either of these two. Brentford appear to be interested in Sano (as of this week) so that should give you a good indicator to how good this fella is.

We will probably dither and stick with Gueye and Tim.

This lad is top drawer and would be a great signing. Young, already one of if not the best player in the Championship, with scope to improve and increase his value. Exactly the type of business we should be doing. Let's hope this comes off and we don't drag our heels like we normally do!

Apparently Carrick wants him as well at the Man Utd, but player's preference is us. As you say, let's hope this deal doesn't get scuppered, as he was player of the Championship last season and would be a real coup of a signing for us, as any other clubs are in for him too.

I think £30m or a bit over in today's market is absolutely fine. I'm a big fan of this signing if it happens.

I'm not the poster but it's pretty obvious that he's a ball carrying midfielder. Strong too. Can see a pass and loves a shot at goal. Box to box and can tackle too. Pretty much the real deal for the Championship. Just remains if that can transfer to the PL.

I have seen rumours that Ndiaye has not asked to leave. Details circulating are that the club offered a pay rise from his £45k per week, his agent asked for a release clause in the contract, which is why the new deal is unsigned at the moment.
When I was on a stadium tour, they mentioned he is tied into a 5 year lease on a box at the stadium, so has 4 years left on that.


And also is mid renovation on his house.
That’s not to say those aspects would keep him, but I am sure they would play on his mind.

Tristan Crama is a 6ft 4" Centre back who can play rb. He is slow and physical. He hasn't done anything to say he's worth anywhere near £20m, and at best he is a mid tier Championship player. He is definitely not at the calibre to be ready for the Premier League yet.

OS has summed that up pretty well tbf, GB. We were linked with him earlier in the season. If we were going for any of their side, I would rather us go for Femi Azeez or Mihailo Ivanovic than Crama, GB. They were the stand outs from whenever I watched Millwall.

To be fair, I saw enough of him at Southampton (for God knows why, I watched a load of their games last season) and he was absolutely superb. I was desperate for us to sign him, and that's why I'm of the firm opinion that is Moyes who has ruined him, and not our scouts getting it wrong.

Re: Crama, a Millwall supporting mate says he's quality, but it doesn't mean he's the solution to our problems. I've said a million times that it's not about buying good players, it's about buying the right ones, and buying another 6'4 player and shoving him at fullback is far from the right decision.



Plus, side note, one of the main reasons Dibling has been so poor for us is the complete lack of support he has had from O'Brien. An inverted winger needs an overlapping fullback, if for no reason other than to distract defenders.

I saw the same as you last season, and it was enough to know he wasn't worth £10m let alone £40m! There is a reason not one other club showed an interest.

So I will do it for you. Dibling's best position is playing behind the striker with a free role to roam. Not stuck out on the wing. I will agree though, having O'Brien behind him didn't help, but again that's not O'Brien's fault, it's having a manager who seems clueless to his players' strengths.

I have a great deal of sympathy for OBrien. He played the whole season out of position for the club, because they totally failed in the close season to sign a RB.
Must have been demoralising for the lad at times.

Jayden Oosterwolde is a 6ft 2" defender with exceptional pace. He is naturally left footed and comfortable at both left back and left centre back. He is known to be rather rash and pick up some unnecessary bookings.

He is also quite inconsistent with his positional play. That being said, he could be good enough to have a place in our team, but he had a serious ACL injury not too long ago, which is a big issue.

Oosterwolde ACL was back in 24 and he's notched up 35 domestic games this season and 12 in Europe, so I would feel he's recovered well.
Not lost his pace either, but would agree he plays on the edge, so bookings can be an issue.
He's a good ball player, comfortable bringing the ball out, and has also played midfield and left back, actually a good overlapping LB with his pace, which also helps with his recoveries.


Also a good passer and can hit a decent cross in.
I feel he would be a useful addition.

At this time of year, speculation occupies the football back pages.
With that qualification, it is suggested that we will sell Beto, and keep Barry, Beto has his limitations, but is far more effective than Barry in every department, so, if we are going to bring in a striker, Beto should be our bench backup, and Barry should either be sold (at a great loss) or sent out on loan, if he gets a few goals in the Championship, we might then get some of his fee back in his sale.

Who is going to purchase either Beto or Barry? Beto has one year left on his contract and Barry has until 2029. I think that we are stuck with them for another season unless we give them away.
