Baku from Leipzig, another RB we are supposed to be looking at.

So reading this morning it’s official we were stitched up over PSR so says our Everton fans advisory board, nothing new there then that we didn't know.

04 Aug 2026 09:33:25
We all knew it, and most footy fans knew. A fans advisory board doesn't quite have the muscle of a proper apology from an association that actually matters, though. It's like your funny Auntie telling you you're handsome when you're 12. Pointless literally.

Everton scouts up watching AJ tonight.

03 Aug 2026 23:20:48
Let's hope he beats some sense into them.

If we were on the cusp of signing him, do you think he'd be starting the game? I wonder how close that deal is.

There was an article on BBC saying most deals start well before the window opens, even some in the Feb after the winter window closes. O'Neil said he was called two weeks ago by Moyes to say a bid was coming in.

This is why I get the impression we are disorganised.

The RB issue has been going on for years. Moyes said he'd tried to sign players in the past (think it was mainly regarding strikers) , but surely we could find a RB better than Patterson and O'Brien ready to sign at the start of the window.

Rant over.

04 Aug 2026 08:59:03
I did think the same, if we are close or agreed anything surely he wouldn't be in the team. I still think we are interested in someone else and he's the back up, still think we want Rico from City and are just waiting to see if he's made the grade with them or the Spurs chap Spence.

Manchester United academy striker Ethan Wheatley has emerged as a surprise permanent target for Everton, with the Merseyside club exploring a deal that few expected earlier this summer. The Manchester Evening News reports. Still can't get my head around this one if true 🤔. What are my fellow Evertonians 💬?

1

03 Aug 2026 20:41:01
Yep, as with Dibling, one for the future.

0

03 Aug 2026 21:06:50
Manu will be sniffing after Ndieye, so will be giving us all their crap as their skint.

0

04 Aug 2026 00:18:22
Wheatley is supposed to be a great prospect, we've raided Nick Cox and a couple of their other academy coaches, so likely have good insight on him, one for the U23s.

0

03 Aug 2026 23:31:42
We have Graham as a young forward and, to an extent, Barry as 'one for the future'.m if he is loaned out. Rather we saved our money and went all in for a RB and a 'now' striker like Ed25 says.

Unless this is all a subtle ploy to make signing Delap look like a superb decision

04 Aug 2026 09:01:05
It may be we are also upgrading our youth for the future and this isn't a first team signing, which to me is a good thing. Yes, we need players for the first team, but we are a club, and players need bringing in for all the teams. The papers have made this into a thing nobody else.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - the trouble with that Pasty is that we are not a regular top 10 side which is the time to think about the future for me, we need to concentrate on the present for now because we dont seem to do very well when signing these young players mate, can you name someone in recent times who has broken through and established himself as a first team regular?, i just think its pie in the sky..

04 Aug 2026 22:58:56
There has been a complete overhaul of the youth setup so we can look at bringing players through Ed which that Nick Cox is overseeing
Modernize Structure: Streamline youth progression to fix a system that had been scaled back over the previous five to six years.
Pathway Clarity: Bridge the gap between youth ranks and first-team demands, creating a sustainable talent pipeline for both senior selection and future player sales
We need to become sustainable through that recruitment as both for players progressing to the first team and also to generate income through sales.

Needed that to happen now alongside first team recruitment

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i have lost faith in our youth policy ST, its not just us its every team now that have moved from bringing youth through to buying foreign imports because of the cost, i would of course love to see the next Rooney coming through the ranks but i feel that ship has sailed mate..

05 Aug 2026 08:17:13
I understand the viewpoint Ed, but I am trying to be optimistic and it does look like TFG have looked to change our youth development. Players like Wheatley will come in for nominal fees, like Braiden Graham who we paid a fee to Linfield to acquire, and recently that Kai Hutchison as well.
Some of these payments are minimal transfer fees some are payments agreed between the clubs to avoid going to a FIFA training tribunal, is my understanding
Hopefully we start seeing the benefits in coming years but these are not going to be here and now fixes but it's the foundations for the future.

The recruitment for the first team is being smart for me, bringing in some experience like the KDH Grealish and Norgaard and complimenting with younger talents like George Rohl Aznou Dibling and Hackney.
Hopefully Aznou and Dibling push for more first team game time this season

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i would love to see it ST but im still very sceptical, the idea is great but for this sort of thing to work the club and especially the management all have to buy into this ethos, young players have to be given the chance and ours at the moment dont seem to be on that same page mate, you only have to look at the likes of Aznou and Dibbling to see that..

0

05 Aug 2026 11:39:16
I don't think Aznou and Dibling were bought into immediately start though. I look at them as succession planning.
Aznou was a little bit light for me, but he's looking much better and more capable to handle the physical side, add the ball skills going forward. I expect to see the shift at LB this season, especially if we can keep JB fit. In hindsight we probably should have loaned him in Jan for game time.
Dibling, I think, is a mental thing.

He comes across as needing an arm round him and encouragement, something I don't think we see from Moyes. He's often the tough love type. But with a season around the team I am hoping he comes out of his shell and shows what he's capable of, because I feel there is a talented player in there.
But with all that said, I do also get the scepticism, we have been let down a few times! Ok, a lot of times.

Why Everton would be playing with fire amid Tim Iroegbunam exit talk as numbers prove true value

I agree, pal. I like this player. I would get rid of the winger O'Neil and CharlyA before this player. I like how he handles the middle of the park.

0

03 Aug 2026 18:13:18
He is a big and powerful boy, but it doesn't matter how well you win the ball back if you give it away in the next second.

He is too wasteful with the ball for me, Toffebwoy.

With Norgaard coming in, who is usually very reliable, and Jimmy being able to play there.

If we can get around 20m for a player that won't be a starter, given we don't appear to have much money to chuck around, it is a no brainer to let him go imo.

We can then reinvest that money into the team.

2

03 Aug 2026 18:41:56
He does give the ball away, but also, in my view, he is getting better. McNeil, I don't understand why he is still here. Is Alcaraz better than Tim?

0

03 Aug 2026 18:49:02
I think if Alcaraz stays, he has a big season. First summer off in 3yrs, and no injuries, fingers crossed.

03 Aug 2026 19:15:55
Yep, not good enough. £20 million will help us no end.

Young player with scope to develop further. Yes, he needs to improve his passing but so do a lot of others. Mistake letting this one go.

1

04 Aug 2026 09:05:57
Problem is he's in his last year, next year leaves for nothing, we need to make our minds up weather he gets a new deal because he has a future, or sell and get the money while we can and move on. I personally can't see him being the answer moving forward, plus if he had promise surely it wouldn't only be the teams who have just come up interested in him, surely a few established teams would want him, but there not, so I'd say sell, get the money, we have Harrison, Hackney, Rohl and of course Garner, so we are well covered in young midfielders.

03 Aug 2026 15:39:43
Reading Molina is still on our radar, be good to get the RB in.

1

03 Aug 2026 15:53:18
Can't say I've seen anything of him. Is he an attacking fullback?

0

03 Aug 2026 15:57:27
Yes, he literally attacks everyone, the dirty little fecker.

5

03 Aug 2026 16:29:11
Yes, but we are more likely looking at Alfred Molina, the 73 year old actor.

Bournemouth set to sign Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla, apparently we were looking at him not long back to solve our RB problem, is this a missed opportunity? Or would it have been a waste like Patto? £11m is the fee.

0

03 Aug 2026 13:40:12
Hand on heart he will probably tear it up for Bournemouth but would have likely been terrible for us. That's just what we do to players, it seems.

3

03 Aug 2026 14:50:16
Can't say either way now, time to move on.

2

03 Aug 2026 16:08:27
We looked last summer, but there was also an Italian side in for him. He was EUR20m last summer.
Rumour was he wanted the Italian side, and then that broke down and all went quiet, and I think we pulled out, likely as he wasn't, or didn't seem, keen on the move.

His club was also going to take Patterson only on loan.
Great attacking fullback and loves to overlap and get crosses in, bit like Rico Lewis, being tactically astute and able to play rb, rwb and also step inside to central midfield.
Could be a great signing for Bournemouth.

03 Aug 2026 12:05:01
Looks like Tim is off £20 million being mentioned, Norgaard has a medical booked and we are close to getting to getting Johnston in. This is turning into a very good window with more to come.

4

03 Aug 2026 12:27:15
I really hope if this Johnston comes in, and Patto goes, we are still after a better rb. Just worried about his injury record. Hope we still get one of Spence or Norton Cuffy. Doue looks out of our reach.

2

03 Aug 2026 12:44:34
I think Spence will be as well tbh, Dev.

Still can't believe we didn't get Sanchez in. He has been available for an eternity and if Bournemouth's recruitment team think he is good enough, that usually means that he is.

10m as well. Sickening.

Twice the RB that Johnston is and most of the RB's we have been linked to for that matter. 22 years old as well.

Ball dropped on this one.

0

03 Aug 2026 12:57:31
I suppose they have European football though. But yes, ball dropped here.

0

03 Aug 2026 14:51:33
Bit of positivity there, Blue-Dev, keep it up, mate. This window will turn out ok, buddy.

0

03 Aug 2026 16:10:05
Hope you are right GB. We need a decent RB in and someone who can find the net.

0

03 Aug 2026 18:43:31
There we go, GB is back.

0

02 Aug 2026 17:55:01
Reading Yilmaz has agreed personal terms with us. Be good to get him in.

7

02 Aug 2026 19:25:51
Good numbers. Looks decent.

2

02 Aug 2026 19:25:55
It would be amazing to get him in GB. He has great attributes and is direct. His numbers are very decent. I, for one, will be excited if this one comes off. Apparently Spurs are supposedly sniffing around him too. He can play anywhere across the front three, I'm just hoping it's not a replacement for Ndiaye if we do manage to sign him up.

2

02 Aug 2026 19:38:14
More excited over this one than Murphy..

It'd make for good competition if we had him, George, Ndiaye, Grealish, Rohl and Dibling.

1

02 Aug 2026 23:13:51
Looks like Forest have entered negotiations too.

0

03 Aug 2026 02:27:32
Good numbers?
1-8 for country.
1-5 for club. Is this any better than what we have?

0

03 Aug 2026 10:40:11
Just read he may not be a target for us today. Honestly, you cannot believe anything you read on the click bait.

0

03 Aug 2026 11:28:58
I'm feeling a little more confident that they are just putting distractions out there. I mean the Norgaard rumour came from nowhere.

2

02 Aug 2026 13:25:20
Jacob Murphy is getting linked with us again, looks like DM is going for a mixture of experience and youth in th Team.

2

02 Aug 2026 16:35:36
He's not an exciting signing, similar to Norgaard, but I won't be disappointed if he signs.

I actually think both are underrated GB.

4

02 Aug 2026 17:19:00
Last couple of seasons, if Murphy was Brazilian, they'd have been getting plaudits.

3

02 Aug 2026 20:08:40
Has he been playing lots off the bench, JB, as I didn't think his numbers were that great last season?
