Jack Grealish has been left out of Man City's squad for their preseason tour. Should we read anything into that?

Agree3 Disagree0

That City don't rate him and he is surplus to requirement..

29 Jul 2026 13:43:37
He's still not recovered from injury. Think we need to be looking elsewhere.

29 Jul 2026 14:25:16
I agree, Dev. Can only assume the fee would be similar to last year. We can put that money to better use.

29 Jul 2026 14:42:32
Really hope we get him back, important player for us.

29 Jul 2026 14:54:43
From what im reading, new City manager has worked with him before, and is a lot more keen on him than Pep, loves his attitude and has no immediate plans to move him on, and it sounds like Grealish is very happy to be in amongst it at City again tbh. I don't think this one comes back our way this season.

They are interesting comments from Maresca how he likes to work with all players contracted to the club. This comes from the manager, who, while at Chelsea, sent numerous players to train on their own.

29 Jul 2026 17:41:14
BD, I thought he was back in training with City in all honesty.

If we did go back for him, I think it would be a loan deal with a set fee to be paid next year. Very similar deal to the one we made with them for Barry, a good few years ago. The good Barry, not the clown we have up top right now!

I think the new City manager has been pretty cryptic when asked the question.

He hasn't come out and said he either wants him to stay or is prepared to let him leave. That's why I asked the question in the first place. Does it mean he is on his way out of City this summer? If so, I'd take him back all day long.

29 Jul 2026 18:29:48
I think he's doing rehab training still, not full on training. Probably, still be better than what we have, just not sure on the money side, we have so many positions to fill.

29 Jul 2026 18:53:06
He's supposed to have signed for someone else, or close to, on a wage we can't match. Don't know who, but he's not likely to be coming to us by all accounts. Hope it's not true.

29 Jul 2026 19:29:08
Not heard that.

29 Jul 2026 20:32:28
If the deal is there, sign it.
Technically, mentally, football brain and hard working better than most players out there.

He's in the last 12 months of his contract, next year he's free. Any loan fee will just be a financial workaround, with City paying a proportion of his salary. Then there's the interest in Lewis, we can't loan two players from the same club, so one will be a purchase and the other I presume a loan. There will be wheeling and dealing going on that everyone is happy with, players, agents and the clubs.

It's a three way game of chess.
With regards to what Maresca says, what do you expect him to say? I will ostracise all those not in line with my plans!
When they're ready, I'm sure we will all find out, but most of what we talk about is guesswork based on rumours, and it depends on whether you're a glass half full or empty person.

30 Jul 2026 08:31:45
Or your glass has been smashed through years of crushing disappointment sort of person..

30 Jul 2026 09:31:55
All those with BR2526 form an orderly queue for fitting of your new jacket with buckled wrap around sleeves and gusset strap. This queue will be well away from any edges or steep drops.
It's being so cheerful that keeps him going. ??
Seriously. Have a lovely day, BR. All the best, Big C.

Live a bit of bubble wrap, Big C - sign me up!

If you include a hat version, it'll offer some protection from banging my head against the wall..

Off to watch some cricket today. Sitting around watching not a lot happening with occasional moments of excitement. Good prep for the Lille game.

Good points: good with ball at his feet, can put in a good cross, attracts defenders.
Other: slows the game down (too much in my opinion) , his glass is always half full, can't/won't shoot, still working on recovery. Loan with reduced wages is best.
