Another Palace player on our radar now Danial Munoz RB.

Reckon it's more desperation our end. He must be well down the list that should have been compiled over the last 2 years and sounds like either lazy journalism or lazy recruitment. Normally, I'd side with lazy journalism, but it's getting a bit of a joke now that we are two weeks away from the start of the season and still don't have a rb..

4

10 Aug 2026 20:44:01
Great player, be made up if we go after him.
See if Palace want to swap him for Patterson.

4

10 Aug 2026 21:27:22
Could you imagine if that came true, JB.

3

10 Aug 2026 22:11:42
Don't think it's desperation myself, more likely that he's become available at a price and wasn't before. Would imagine that a lot of teams would be keen across Europe so we'll have to make it worth his while if we want him.

1

10 Aug 2026 22:24:43
Any idea on the price lads? Just turned 30 and 2 years left on his deal, I think.

What an upgrade he would be.

2

10 Aug 2026 22:32:43
18 million rumoured. Palace in talks with another RB.

10 Aug 2026 23:12:19
Desperation BR? He is streets ahead of any other right back we have been linked with, and is a huge upgrade on anything we have. I would go as far as to say he is one of the best right backs in the league. I hope this is true, but cannot believe one of the big boys wouldn't be interested if he is available.

1

10 Aug 2026 23:31:11
If he is available for 18m and we don't go all out to get him, we are mad.

I wouldn't flinch if they wanted 30m, even if he is 30. He would transform our entire team. He has got 3 lungs.

Ndiaye would be free to run riot and have the overlap on every time.

2

11 Aug 2026 01:38:08
If it's true, what a signing. I have said on here a few times. I wish we could sign him. Fingers crossed. 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞

0

11 Aug 2026 07:25:22
£18 million is a steal for a player of his quality. Palace were ready to shell out £20 million for McNeil, so no debate.
If we get him, then go & get Richie from Spuds, I'd say that's a decent window.

UTFT NSNO. 💙 💙 💙

1

11 Aug 2026 07:41:47
More like desperation of some on here, he would be invaluable to the team. Get him in.

0

11 Aug 2026 08:33:11
I agree, lads, I have seen this lad prior to his injury, he's like the flash down the right hand side and a right nuisance, definitely worth the 18 million, be an absolute steel if we can persuade him to join us.

1

11 Aug 2026 08:53:48
Can we sign him though if we've just signed someone from the same club? Not sure what the new rules are, but thought this was why Villa couldn't sign Jackson from Chelsea.

0

11 Aug 2026 09:27:30
Yes - I still feel this is out of desperation as we should have signed an RB already (if not last season) . If he is available, why didn’t we use him instead of Johnson in the swap deal?

I find it hard to believe no one is interested in joining a Premier League club with a decent wage bill. If this is our new primary target then go all out and get him, but what on Earth have we been doing for the last 6 months? It doesn’t mean it’s a bad deal, but it feels like we have no ability to sort ourselves out and are working down a list of players who won’t come, or maybe our list is only 1-2 players long.

There’s also the view that if Palace have lined up a younger replacement/improvement, why are we not going after that sort of player? He’s 30 and is moving towards the end of his career.

Although many footballers are now continuing at higher levels into their early 30s, there are more who fall off the cliff edge of performance than don’t.

I just feel our recruitment team are a mess. Our early business was to resign two players (who we didn’t see enough of last year) and one of them was an obligation. I’m happy with Hackney and Norgaard because Gueye left and Garner has had an op, but there are obvious issues at RB, LB and up front that we need sorting and have for a while.

If Munoz is the target, go get him. I just wonder why we haven’t sorted this position yet.

We hear there is a player who might be available and we are suddenly all over it. Sounds desperate to me.

However, it could all be media hype and nothing behind it.

0

11 Aug 2026 09:33:43
Part of the problem is that fans believe every bit of tat in the press and create a narrative around it. How do we know that he wasn't top of our list all summer and Palace have only now agreed to let him go? Why would we waste our time perusing a player that's not for sale? We all want to see young players come through.

Barry, Dibling, Armstrong, Rohl, Branthwaite, O'Brien, Hackney. We have plenty of young players. We also need proven, talented, experienced match winners. Munoz is a class act.

0

10 Aug 2026 19:46:17
So PNE in the cup. I really hope Moyes reads the room and puts out a strong team.

0

10 Aug 2026 20:01:55
At Goodison?

2

11 Aug 2026 04:42:41
I had that and thought. But pretty sure they'll have gone back by then (someone mentioned it's a game or 2 at Goodison - dunno if that's true without looking it up) .

0

11 Aug 2026 07:11:21
No, apparently it will be back at Deepdale according to a couple of PNE fans of mine.

0

10 Aug 2026 08:42:05
Johnson has his medical today I’m reading.

6

10 Aug 2026 09:16:08
Yep GB, the BBC are reporting both players having medicals today, so deal should be confirmed soon (all being well) .

0

10 Aug 2026 11:15:32
Can Brennan Johnson play as a 9 or is he just a winger?

1

10 Aug 2026 11:39:48
It's RB I'm concerned with.. Can he play there?

1

10 Aug 2026 12:40:38
I was speaking to a friend of mine this morning who is a Spurs fan. He said he was decent for them and was surprised they let him go, so I think it sounds like we’re getting the better end of the deal.

Palace paid £35m for him in Jan, and we’re swapping him for a player in the last year of his contract who we’d lost for free at the end of the season.

0

10 Aug 2026 12:51:48
I do wonder about this being a straight swap. Does anybody know what was the structure of Johnson's move from Spurs to Palace? Could we be possibly picking up any outstanding instalments still owed to Spurs?

0

10 Aug 2026 13:43:33
Let TFG worry about payments, etc. Not for us lowly fans.

4

10 Aug 2026 15:06:15
Yeah, I get that, but being reported as a straight swap may be misleading, and therefore eating into our overall budget.
That said, I'm looking forward to seeing him in an Everton shirt.
Good luck to Dwight too.

2

10 Aug 2026 15:18:47
Yep I wish Dwight all the best.

5

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - me too..

1

10 Aug 2026 16:09:50
The Premier League have to ok the deal before it goes through, taking into account the estimated value of each player, and to ensure it meets their dodgy criteria.

0

10 Aug 2026 16:36:03
We will probably get deducted 6 points before the deal gets approved.

0

10 Aug 2026 16:45:34
In all honesty, I hope McNeil does well for them. Him and his other half seem decent people. It just didn't fully work out for him here. Scored a couple of crackers and had one good game playing at 10.

Let's hope this Johnson lad hits the ground running and outperforms all expectations.

1

10 Aug 2026 19:13:27
Is it a clever move? Do both clubs value the players at, say, 30 million, and then show that as income to improve PSR?

0

10 Aug 2026 19:17:25
I liked McNeil tbh. Not consistent, but scored a few great goals, getting mixed rumours about Johnson's attitude and inconsistency, so let's just wait and see!

0

10 Aug 2026 22:19:49
Was very sceptical about signing McNeil but only high praise for him, decent player on his day and wish him all the best of luck for the future and most importantly happiness.

0

09 Aug 2026 22:44:42
Can't help but think that Johnson will end up being an Ndayie replacement. Grealish will come in too to play on the left, and the Ndayie money will be used to buy a right back and a striker with Beto being shipped off somewhere.

2

10 Aug 2026 08:13:12
Well, I hope some of that happens, but fear you might be right about all of it.

0

10 Aug 2026 09:05:37
Hope we keep Ndiaye.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - so do i GB..

1

10 Aug 2026 10:17:35
Maybe dreaming but I'd love Taty Castellanos. Think he'd offer something different to what we have upfront.

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - the only problem with that BT is that he would not be much use if we continue with hoofball mate..

0

10 Aug 2026 15:59:09
You'd think with the midfield we have he'd be way more compatible than Barry and Beto. If Grealish comes back, we have a serious midfield and a serious back up midfield. Taty would be very compatible with a ball playing midfield. Also, Johnston is a great piece of business.

Will definitely strengthen us. Add a player like Taty, it allows us to change the game plan. 3 strikers also may give Barry a bit of time to develop. Everton with a plan b sounds extremely fictional, I realize that. 😀

1

09 Aug 2026 19:52:29
Delap scored 2 for Chelsea in a friendly. If Alonso doesn't want him, why is he playing?

1

09 Aug 2026 20:08:42
They played their second team as they've played twice in two days.

5

09 Aug 2026 22:37:41
They were both penalties, weren't they?

The main thing is this: would he have scored the chances Beto missed at Stuttgart? Would Barry have scored them (I doubt he would have - I doubt he would have been in the right place, also) ?

It seems like he's the one Moyes has tried to sign before, so might go back again.

2

10 Aug 2026 08:14:35
Any other striker would've scored those chances. The fact is that there are only two top flight strikers that resemble Bambi on Ice and we have them both!

1

10 Aug 2026 08:14:56
If we continue playing hoofball, then it won't matter what striker we sign as long as he runs around a lot.

2

09 Aug 2026 15:25:59
Don't shoot the messenger folks. but a friend of mine with links to the club is convinced that Moyes will be leaving his role as Everton manager in September to take up the Scotland manager's job. not sure if there is any truth in this, but come to think of it, he has been very quiet during pre-season. In fact I haven't seen him doing any of his usual interviews or giving his thoughts about the new season ahead.

Add to that the lack of a right back and proven striker which is so clearly needed, and general transfer dithering and non activity. I'm beginning to wonder what might actually be going on behind the scenes. Eddie Howe incoming anyone?

7

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i will personally push him in a wheelbarrow to Scotland Elvis..

5

09 Aug 2026 16:48:41
Wow that's some info, Elvis, mate, thanks for that. Hope we go for someone better than Howe if DM is on the move.

4

09 Aug 2026 16:41:44
Ha ha ha, Ed you do make me laugh.

Personally I wouldn't be disappointed if Moyes left to take the Scotland job but I would be disappointed with the timing!

I'm not sure about Howe myself but I can't really think of anyone who jumps out as an ideal candidate

1

09 Aug 2026 16:50:30
Why would he wait and not go before the season starts, that makes no sense whatsoever?

3

09 Aug 2026 16:59:11
I doubt the club would go with that scenario of him leaving then. They would get rid now if that was the case.

3

09 Aug 2026 17:08:19
It would be mad to wait until September unless Moyes thinks we might be signing Mbappe. 😂

2

09 Aug 2026 17:10:35
Whatever the case, Moyes is in the last year of his contract and the club need to work on his replacement. The minute the Scotland job became available, the club should've kicked into recruitment mode. Even if done stealthily. So I hope that's the case.

2

09 Aug 2026 17:42:49
They can't get rid of him without sacking him and paying out his contract. If he leaves in September, we pay nothing.

It'd be a bit crap of Moyes if we don't have a backup ready to go. At least Howe would be more attacking. Maybe someone had a word with him after Moyes said he'd take the Scotland job so he stepped down from Newcastle.

who knows?

I think Scottish FA said they were close to announcing so doubt it is Moyes. Elvis' contacts have been on the ball in the past though.

2

09 Aug 2026 18:10:46
Well, everyone has been desperate for this, just waiting for when we get Howe or another bum in that takes us down. Although that will likely be Moyes' fault too!

3

09 Aug 2026 18:55:58
As much as I'd like this to be true, I just can't see it, and think that he's here for the duration unless we have a disastrous first half a dozen games.

When and if he does go, even if it's at the end of the season, it has to be Lee Carsley for me, I think he's made for the job.

5

09 Aug 2026 19:30:42
Yeah, I'm keen on Carsley too, think he'd be good.

6

09 Aug 2026 20:00:47
My god, imagine if he leaves in September without a right back being signed, especially if he's saying no to some of the options! Carnage!
😳

I thought they were looking at Naismith for interim charge. The next Euros they are pretty much guaranteed qualification from what I read due to this safety net for the two best home nations who don't qualify from groups as group winners or one of the 8 best runners up.

If he stays on, and say Naismith is in interim charge, he will miss the first two qualifiers or might be gone by then if things go tits up.

March 2027 Break (Matchdays 1 & 2)
June 2027 Break (Matchdays 3 & 4)
Late September to early October 2027 extended break (Matchdays 5, 6, 7 & 8)
November 2027 Break (Matchdays 9 & 10)

I feel sorry for Patterson if he takes the role, ends his Scotland career.
😭

09 Aug 2026 21:56:10
Don't forget ED if Moyes goes we would want a hefty compensation fee from the Scottish FA

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i would take a Mars bar and a packet of cheese and onion crisps Uran..

1

10 Aug 2026 10:16:37
No, pitching the price that high might stop the deal.

1

10 Aug 2026 16:21:20
Not true even a club ran like Everton wouldn't be that stupid. Unless we already have a replacement who's making calls on the squad. Howe would make sense because he resigned rather than waiting for a payout. But if that was the case the club would have known way before glassner went to forest.

You'd take him over Howe or the usual suspects. I just could not believe we'd be so ridiculously stupid bad enough we always sacrifice the first game or two by being slow in the transfer market. A new manager in September would be retarded

0

10 Aug 2026 22:29:12
Correction ed a battered mars bar and an iron bru ;-)

Brennan Johnson to Everton is gathering pace, some saying a medical is booked, looks like this could be on.

6

09 Aug 2026 14:49:27
If it's a straight swap, as reported, for no extra money, I'd take that. Get rid of McNeill, who offered no threat, and whilst Johnson didn't set world alight at Palace, he's got pace to burn, which McNeill hasn't. Hopefully, imo, we get this one over the line as it's a no brainer if no extra fee.

4

09 Aug 2026 15:03:38
It says it's a straight swap mate.

2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - it had better be GB, getting rid of one waster for another there should be no fee either way mate..

1

09 Aug 2026 15:44:49
Think that could be a very good swap if it comes off.

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - magnolia for me..

0

09 Aug 2026 15:48:22
Straight swap would be a great deal for both clubs.

0

09 Aug 2026 15:54:17
Palace paid £35 mi,,ion for him from Spurs, he has to be an upgrade on McNeil, BN will keep us posted.

0

09 Aug 2026 17:06:02
Palace wasted 35mill. Doesn't make it a good deal for me. We're not improving the position, so why are we bothering.

0

09 Aug 2026 17:10:24
Hope we're not getting him because our right winger is leaving. That I would not be happy about.

1

09 Aug 2026 17:14:07
Total waste of time for me. Johnson has pace and nothing else. McNeil, for all his faults, could at least pop up with a goal from nothing or put in a half decent corner.

0

09 Aug 2026 17:48:13
No brainer.

0

09 Aug 2026 17:51:06
Only thing in our favour is McNeil is in his last year and will leave on a free next summer.

0

09 Aug 2026 19:07:27
The only positive I can see is that McNeil gets the move he wanted and good luck to him.

Palace paid £35M for him in January, and there's a reason they are willing to swap for a player valued at £20M, and it's exactly the same reason we have been looking to offload Barry.

It's because he's crap.

Why have Yilmaz when you can have Brennan Johnson.

0

09 Aug 2026 20:06:39
I think this is an excellent piece of business, swapping out the scapegoat of the team for a pacey winger with good returns. In 3 of his 5 seasons in the Prem, he has gotten over 10 combined g+a, more than any of our wingers in that period, (one of the other seasons he only played 3 games) .

We all know we need pace and he has it. He was not as good last year, but getting him in for a player no one wants to even see on our bench and is a year younger seems an excellent move for me.

4

09 Aug 2026 22:42:48
I'd rather take the money for McNeil and use it to add to the kitty for players. However, I'm unsure we have anyone in the pipeline we can sign.

Why does it feel like we are now looking at loans as our final business of this window?

0

09 Aug 2026 14:32:01
Merlin Rohl showed yesterday exactly why an attacking full‑back is so important. The difference it made for Tyler Dibbling was unreal. Having someone actually making overlapping runs, offering quick forward passes, and stopping the constant recycling back to the CBs and GK completely changed his game. Those two were miles ahead of everyone else on the pitch.

Same story on the left. Whenever George plays with Aznou, our whole left side suddenly looks alive. It's night and day. It won't happen under Moyes, but the weaknesses of O'Brien and Myko have been obvious for ages. The moment we replace them with full‑backs who actually attack, we look like a proper threat.

Hopefully we're finally in the home stretch with Moyes. Get through the rest of this season, hit the reset button, and bring in a younger, more progressive manager who actually embraces modern football. A fresh start is badly needed.

6

09 Aug 2026 15:29:51
One of the main things which makes me pull my hair out about supporting us - We need reinforcements, but we actually have the tools to play decent football, but a manager who won't do it!

And, I'm pretty certain we'll likely lose those tools before we lose the manager.

1

09 Aug 2026 14:27:39.
I will believe this when I see it
According to reliable journalist Joyce, Everton and Crystal Palace are progressing on a swap deal involving both McNeil and Johnson in the summer transfer window.

It's claimed that the deal would not involve any additional money and is a straight swap between the two players, with medicals potentially taking place as early as Monday.

1

09 Aug 2026 14:33:30
Bobble has also confirmed it. Decent bit of business.

2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - really John?, like swapping a swede for a turnip for me mate..

0

09 Aug 2026 15:51:39
I feel we need to be a little open minded. Ndiaye was not good at Marseille, fresh challenge and a fan base getting behind him, and he plays with confidence and expresses himself, could be what Johnson needs.

He was productive at Forest and Spurs.
If a straight swap, then I would think it's great for both clubs and players, but when we need a right back, I would want to see us committing funds from the limited pot.

1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - there was a reason Forest got rid of him, and its the same reason why Spurs got shut of him and why Palace dont want him..

1

09 Aug 2026 18:26:39
I don't think he replaces Ndiaye or even dibbling, but he'll be more useful than McNeil, even if it's just someone with pace.

Straight swap by all accounts, so whereas we know McNeil ain't getting any better, at least the guy gives us something different, even if it is limited.

0

09 Aug 2026 18:17:54
What's the reason Marseille wanted rid of Ndiaye ed? Pretty much every player gets sold and normally unless you are a small club it's because the club doesn't want you so why is Johnson any different?

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i think he was a young lad who peaked very early Chris much in the same mould as Sancho, he had speed and potential and done quite well for forest, he then got a big move to Spurs but was soon found wanting and lost his place for a good while even though they were in trouble, Palace had lost a few players so they thought they would take a chance on him but that never worked out either after a quite bright start, he is now surplus to requirement at the Eagles, and in the last window they were prepared to pay £25m for McNeil from us but now they can get him for free by offloading Johnson to us therefore killing two birds with one stone, im sure Moyes will be happy because he was the only one who rated Jack Harrison and Johnson is very similar mate, but you never know i suppose and he could prove me wrong....but again that hasn,t happened since 1978.. :)

0

09 Aug 2026 23:13:08
Fair enough ed thanks for the reply! I liked him in the past but cannot argue last season he was poor. Hopefully if he comes he feels the love off the best fans in the world and recovers his past form because at his best I think he could be just what we need.

He is a moyes type player but if moyes moves on and we get someone who plays good football he might struggle

0

0

10 Aug 2026 15:36:48
Really ed? For me he is most definitely an upgrade on McNeil and Dibling, probably even George who is still developing but if it goes through let's see. Hopefully it works because we have had way more flops in recent years unfortunately

Hector Fort from Barcelona, a defender, is now being linked with us, any info on this guy BN mate?

0

09 Aug 2026 13:39:39
All day long, mate. Good talent. No chance he comes to us. We will either right up until the final minutes, then bring in a goalkeeper on a free and some random midfielder.

1

09 Aug 2026 13:55:56
We had interest in him last summer, but he went on loan to Elche.
Good passer as you'd expect from a Barcelona youngster, nippy and good down the flanks and capable of playing both right and left back.
My concern would be a reluctance to play him like Aznou. He would need to adjust to the physical side of the Premier League, but is skillful and exciting and stands at 6'1, so should adjust.
Other concern would be his injury while impressing on loan at Elche which required surgery on his shoulder after driving into the box to score.

That was December last season, but he did return.
Rumoured to be a relatively low fee at around £10m and Barcelona are looking to sell, loan with option/obligation might be safer option but a few clubs are interested.
Would be a great long term signing if bought in as one of two RB's in my opinion.

3

09 Aug 2026 14:11:37
Cheers for the info.

In my humble opinion, GB, I think bringing him in alongside a more experienced rb, for example Johnston, Baku, Ridle or even Wan Bissaka, would give good balance on the right and allow the forward to do what we want and get some goals and assists, especially when we have someone like Ndiaye cutting inside, a fullback like Fort can drag defenders out and create space.

Just feel it would be tough to get him.
