Ismaila Sarr now being linked. He would cost well over £45 million. I reckon so it's a non starter.

We should have got him when we were linked with him whilst at Watford hey.

Would still take him now though. Works very hard. Strong, physical, and good goal output.

I think we would be very lucky to get him for that cheap though.

Man Utd want him, but yes, still put a bid in for 45 million, see what happens. If Utd are on the fence, we might just get him. He can play anywhere along the top line and can score goals. Just don't wait to the last day, or we will end up with Barry 2.0, another tube.

If we had of made a bid maybe Sarr could be persuaded by his 2 international team mates who already play for Everton, they could have been in his ear this whole World Cup telling him how good a club we are and how good the supporters are. Never know, might just work.

Raoul Bellanova 24yr old right wing back, currently playing for Atalanta. Latest link anyone got any knowledge on this one? Thanks in advance.

Get him in. Suggested him on a list of about 5 or 6 fullbacks last year.

Wouldn't be top of the list, and is more of a RWB/RW than a RB, but we should be signing 2 anyway, and different profiles.

Castelanos from West Ham on our radar now.

I'm all for that. Proper nuisance.

Want a goalscorer fed up with grafters as our No9.

Going to be interesting who we actually recruit GB. Hackney is a good start, young and ambitious. Let's hope the he does not sit on the bench for a season. Let's get the right-back and striker sorted out, those positions are key to next season.
Interesting who is actually driving our recruitment. Moyes always indicated that he was the main person but I am not sure anymore. If we continue to recruit players like Hackney I will have my doubts that Moyes actually has the clout he thinks that he has.

We have needed a good recruitment team for years, one that builds for the future as well as the existing season and not at the whim of whoever the manager is. Let's hope we have one now.
Ed025 do you know who the recruitment team is, or maybe someone else on here knows? I know the we recruited someone from Leeds!

It's a good point, Mike. Managers come and go and we could be left with a right mess like before if we allow them to have the players they want. It's a bit short sighted.

But, if we have a recruitment team who can balance the needs of the manager with the long term plan of the club, then yes, that would be the ideal for me.

02 Jul 2026 18:29:52
Don't think this lad will sit on the bench, he is quality.

02 Jul 2026 18:40:09
With you on that, Mike, mate.

There isn't many decent strikers about at the min. I wish Everton could be more productive in the transfers like Palace. I would be over the moon if we could find players like they do, like Sarr, always liked him and maybe a 40 million offer last season might have got him instead of Barry.

Now it's too late as he will be a Man Utd player next season. We miss the boat again. We need to have a bit of balls and move for players early, instead we always wait to last second and get the players no1 else wants.

02 Jul 2026 19:22:21
We have Ndiaye, KDH, just signed Hackney, with more to come. There have been no outgoings or incomings at Man U.

02 Jul 2026 19:32:47
We need a good striker, without that we mid table again. Stop buying bums no1 has ever heard of, and buy someone who has proven themselves at the top level. 30 million Barry cost, we need to at least try get good strikers. We could have made a bid for Sarr, if Utd go 40 we should go 50 and make Utd pay over the odds, then identify another player and go for them.

If Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace can find these guys then we should be able to as well, and if them teams like that get a good player we should try get them instead of waiting until the bigger clubs gobble them up. We need to move faster.

1

02 Jul 2026 19:45:40
We signed Barry thinking he would be a success. Hasn't worked out of course. Which team has a 100% success rate with transfers?

I saw Barry play for Villarreal a few times before we were linked with him and he was absolute s****. The question is, if I could see it, why couldn't Moyes and co. What really annoys me is that we could've had Franculino Dju for half the price. The problem with Dju is that he's not your stereotypical Moyes lamp post of a striker.

I'm not defending our recruitment team for a moment, Ed. I would say that last summer our owners dipped into their pockets with a view to improving the squad. They've since moved to improve the team that identifies new players, let's hope that means more hits than misses in the future.

A 30% success would be better than o.You are right ed only lukaku was a success that's because we knew what we were buying a proven goal scorer. We buy bums year in year out and nearly always on the last day of the transfer market. We need to at least try and get someone decent not just buy them and hope they turn good.Buy the players already at Brighton palace Bournemouth Forrest etc before the bigger clubs gobble clubs that would be my strategy

Sarr won't be going to United. He will be all but 29 by the time the winter window shuts, and they have Mbuemo and Diallo already for that wide spot.

Not sure why you are saying we should have got him instead of Barry, as they both play different positions. Dibling maybe.

You are right about one thing, though. Very good player and would be very useful for us. We missed the boat when he was at Watford, though. 40m + for a 28/29 year old doesn't make sense for us, though, unless they are fetching 20+ goal involvements like a Bowen.

02 Jul 2026 21:36:52
Sarr can play up front in the middle or out wide, nice and versatile. I know Barry hasn't a clue where he is on the pitch, but he plays up top in the middle. I think he will end up at Utd, just a pity we couldn't have shown a bit of ambition and got in there first.

Clown after clown we have signed and it needs to stop. Our main priority should be a good striker, rest will fall into place if we get one.

Most underrated English centre forward ever Ed. I remember that the southern press didn't want him and couldn't wait to criticise. Bit like they are with Pickford now.

Rico Lewis getting mentioned again with us.

02 Jul 2026 12:31:21
Do you like him, Gb? I just think he's a little small for a full back. I think we will end up with Wan Bassaka if we don't go all out for Doue.

5

02 Jul 2026 12:42:52
He is, mate, but Leighton wasn't a tall player, mate.

4

02 Jul 2026 13:15:38
He doesn't just cover RB either. Has played in many positions and covered DM and LB plenty of times.

Would be a definite buy for me, GB.

5

02 Jul 2026 13:26:38
Agree BN, I don't really go with size matters or age if it comes to that, if they are better than what we have, I'm all for it mate, go get them.

2

02 Jul 2026 13:28:09
He is a very good player, covers multiple positions. I'd defo sign him.

4

02 Jul 2026 15:59:46
Good quick player who likes to overlap. Right age as well, despite GB thinking every 30 plus player is like Messi. 🤣

1

02 Jul 2026 16:32:27
I don't think that for one minute Brass, what I will say is that there are plenty of 30 somethings playing top flight footy, if they are fit, I have no problem in them playing at Everton.

3

02 Jul 2026 19:30:33
I'm 48, under 6 foot and still banging the goals in. 😂

Hackney done and in the shirt.

02 Jul 2026 11:19:59
Watching his season highlights reel, it does look like the lad can do a bit of everything. Scored some lovely goals, can carry the ball, strong in the tackle. Good have landed a real gem here at a bargain price.

3

02 Jul 2026 11:58:05
Good news that. On to the next one now.

1

02 Jul 2026 15:17:26
Someone who can pass a ball and score a goal, great bit of business. Him and Garner should be a great midfield, like to see another holding midfielder in as well, along with Lewis. What would people think of Kyle Walker, I jo hes getting in abit. But he can still do it with the best of them and has plenty of pace.

0

02 Jul 2026 16:01:15
It was Walker's pace that got him out of trouble. He's nowhere near that now.

0

02 Jul 2026 16:49:48
Not for me, BP, as Brass says he has slowed down now. I think there are better available, mate.

Everton Eyeing Rico Lewis. How do my fellow Evertonians feel about this one? What's your thoughts, Bluenose your a fella usually well versed on which players would improve and balance our squad.

02 Jul 2026 10:15:18
Not for me.

2

02 Jul 2026 10:59:33
We need a right back. He's a good player and miles better than what we have, and would almost definitely improve the first team. Why would we turn our noses up at that? With that said, I doubt he will be leaving City any time soon, but, if he did, would he come to a team that has no European football to offer?

0

02 Jul 2026 11:29:39
Rico Lewis is a top tier talent stuck in a bad situation. He's good enough to play regularly in the Premier League, but City's squad depth and tactical shifts have boxed him out. He's not physically dominant, which means he needs a manager who values technical midfielders and inverted full-backs but not someone who wants a traditional overlapping right back.

Right now he's at risk of becoming one of those City academy players who stagnate because they stay too long.

A move to either recently linked Everton, Forest or another possession based side would probably unlock his career.

If he leaves, I think he becomes a Premier League starter within a year. If he stays, he'll remain a rotation piece and never reach his ceiling.

Everton need a right-back and midfield depth and Lewis fills multiple gaps there whereas Forest need a possession improving inverted full-back and he is tactically ideal.

I'd be very happy to see this one progress. Looked a great player when he broke through into the City squad.
