Morning Eds. Having read a few posts from Ed 2 and others, it got me wondering:

Do we have any idea how close the 777 takeover is? How far would a takeover go in sorting out the finances to help us avoid administration?

I'll throw in this. Newcastle take over took a year and they were a pretty straightforward deal except for Mike Ashley holding firm for a price. Man U 25% Jim Ineos deal complete last week after what? 15 months. Again a deal not marred with deductions, hearings, FFP, and possibly some corrupt Oligarchy moody money hurdles. I don't see how this is even remotely close to being sold up. The fact we are technically better off than we were pre points deducted as we know our fate and the improvement on the pitch. Well surely that only boosts the cost of the buyout. FM wants out but he also wants as much of his and his pals money back right? i'd be surprised if this isn't still rumbling on come the summer.

A draw today would be good. Like Spurs, City have had an extended break compared to our preparations for the game. They should be fresh and will be a tough game to play.

BR23-24

{Ed025's Note - it will be even tougher to get a draw today BR...we dont play until tomorrow mate.. :)

1.) 26 Dec 2023 16:09:27
Results not going our way today.

2.) 26 Dec 2023 15:38:03
I’d still take a point today before the game tomorrow Ed!

Christmas break always confuses me. Given some results haven’t gone our way today, we need something tomorrow and against Wolves.

{Ed025's Note - I think we might get a result tomorrow BR..

3.) 26 Dec 2023 19:01:23
The results today didn’t do us any favours eh, it’s in our hands we need to dig in tomorrow and battle them all the way same as our last game and hopefully we can get something from it, massive game as they all are have faith folks.

4.) 26 Dec 2023 19:03:55
No might Ed, we will get a result tomorrow and then go to wolves and get a win there as well?.

{Ed025's Note - i hope your right mate..

5.) 26 Dec 2023 20:59:40
I was glad we had 16 points going into today and tomoz. To be honest I expected a blip Spurs and City. I hope we then kick on starting with Wolves.

We get a lot of stick in the press about our fans and their behaviour sometimes (and quite right) but it was nice to read the article about Man Utd and Chelsea fans ‘poverty chanting’ and the clubs response to advertise for food charities.

It’s a shame that people feel the need to do such things - let the football do the talking. It’s one of the reasons I’ve not taken my lad to a game yet… that and we have been tripe for the last few seasons!

BR23-24

1.) 12 Dec 2023 00:57:15
I did notice at the game that they were singing feed the scousers, pity it was lost on them idiots that the TV screen was highlighting food banks! Not sure if those southern softies get irony mate ?.

2.) 12 Dec 2023 09:04:07
The streets of London are not paved with gold, and they have more than their fair share of home less and needy. Trouble is thick football supporters think that because their club have a rich owner, then suddenly that makes them rich.
What Everton did in response to the chanting was pure class.

3.) 12 Dec 2023 10:57:58
The irony to me is, there are more families in some parts of London struggling and far worse off, that these CFC fans look really silly, because even banter has to 'add up' and this doesn't.

4.) 13 Dec 2023 21:10:21
I generally hate London, it’s a s*ithole. Plenty hard up everywhere.

15 Oct 2023 13:42:33
Currently halfway through the ‘Everton: nothing will be the same’ podcast series on BBC. Interesting hearing from those behind the scenes. Still makes the hierarchy seem clueless. Think Thelwell has come across quite well so far. Wouldn’t lump him in with Moshiri and Kenright causing the mess we are in.

BR23-24

1.) 19 Oct 2023 20:52:20
Yes only FM and BK are the main culprits. Their legacy will unfortunately be ingrained in our glorious history.

09 Oct 2023 06:05:31
Given the recent flavour for changing manager as soon as things go less than desired, do you think we would have sacked Moyes after the 03-04 season where we scraped survival if it where today?

BR23-24

1.) 09 Oct 2023 09:46:51
If memory serves me correct BR, I think 'zeitgeist' was different then as these days we seem to almost expect a regime change as every winter sets in, because we have been badly run for one thing and have been bringing players here and indulging them too when they really don't measure up to what I would personally regard as PL standard, DM would be no different now to the others that were ejected and Rafa even without his LFC history again IMO would have been sacked for his obstinacy alone lol.

2.) 09 Oct 2023 11:15:24
No and he would not have been sacked had Moshri had the guts to hire him in 2019, instead of chasing stars with Ancelloti.

3.) 09 Oct 2023 12:05:23
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

4.) 09 Oct 2023 12:26:57
Do you think Moyes would’ve walked out on us if he knew that he would bomb the Man U job and he’d have had a war chest for the first time?

5.) 09 Oct 2023 12:48:23
Yes he would have been sacked, if we were controlled buy the current management and owner.

6.) 09 Oct 2023 12:53:53
Many on here were very vocal about not wanting Moyes to return to the club. If only Mosh had listened to the noise about Benitez.

7.) 09 Oct 2023 15:22:03
Hit the nail on the head again JB mate.

8.) 10 Oct 2023 14:28:00
He didn't bomb the Utd job (look at their Stats) , he was sacked, Fan pressure 'again'

9.) 10 Oct 2023 16:24:19
Yes he bombed. Lasted 10 months out of a 6 year contract. No need for the minutia of stats, he well and truly cocked that up. And us beating them home and away without conceding was a particular highlight of his miserable time there.

10.) 10 Oct 2023 16:52:17
Grass is always greener ….

11.) 10 Oct 2023 18:07:18
He should have been sacked long before he went to united. Its hilarious on here how some wanted him back even though he won nowt in 11 years and yet wanted Martinez out for daring to finish 11th and with a 51% win ratio compared to Moyes 44%, oh and had nothing of the Moshiri money.

However, none of these managers we've had have won us anything but Moyes had 11 years to fluke a trophy or even a fluky away win at the so called top 6! He only broke that duck last season!

12.) 11 Oct 2023 08:08:58
Moyes is decent but is also the past. The rest is handbags. I’d personally say having us finish 4th with what he had at his disposal is arguably better than a ‘fluky trophy’.

13.) 11 Oct 2023 15:56:16
Give me the trophy anytime.

14.) 11 Oct 2023 17:58:35
Me too, been far to long.

15.) 11 Oct 2023 21:15:17
DPP exactly.

16.) 11 Oct 2023 22:36:53
Show me anywhere it shows on a list of honours, finished 4th behind 3 other teams. My god that comment has blown my mind!

17.) 12 Oct 2023 09:15:41
CL footy on a shoestring budget and knives to a gunfight and so on was impressive, here's the thing DFS it was only a brief sunny period with lots of rain to follow metaphorically speaking, Moyes reached his zenith and all that was proved was that EFC was the best of the rest at that time.

Any idea what is holding the PL up with its checks or why it is taking so long? I’m sure some on here would suggest it’s the PL trying to make us go into administration but that would sound ridiculous.

BR23-24

{Ed002's Note - There is no hold up. It takes time.}

In the bleak midwinter, we can’t afford our ground,
Moshiri ruined our finances, they’re no longer sound

Dough had fallen, dough and dough,
Dough and dough and dough

In the bleak midwinter, our best players will have to go…

Cheers for the reality check Ed2. Administration is a big fear and more realistic than I had previously thought.

Can we survive without Onana, possibly (if Gomez can cut it) . Can we survive Branthwaite going? I don’t think so. Could we sell anyone else?

Christ knows what will happen with Dele Alli. What are our options Ed?

Money talks. It will happen eventually. Wonder if we would be part of it…

I don’t know if as many people would be up for flying around Europe mid week, each week. It’ll certainly cost a lot more bob than a few hours drive down the M62 and back afterwards.

BR23-24

{Ed025's Note - i very much doubt that we would get an invite BR, they dont like the unwashed and penniless mate and it seems thats how they view us..

Keane played well - hope it raises his confidence. Still think he is prone to errors and his wage is very high for a sub.

If he scores more, I’d like to see him replace Gueye in the CDM role (and take a pay cut)

Saw this again on BBC transfer gossip for Thursday. If we offer him a contract given all the problems and issues we’ve got going on off the field concerning wages being too high, I’m done with this club. Seriously, he never plays and is one of the top earners at the club. Whoever dreamt up the initial deal needed their head to be given a wobble; whoever offers him another contract needs their head to go to the chop! Absolutely idiot decision making from the club if there is any truth in this.

I’m with Mocker.

I think Moshiri and Bill saw him as a James sort of signing but he never lived up to the hype and robbed us of £100k a week for the pleasure. He’s still doing it until the contract runs out.

The wrong Billionaire owner Ed. If we’d had a different billionaire without his ‘advisors’, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess.

BR23-24

{Ed025's Note - exactly BR, trust us to get a billionaire and it turns out to be Mr Bean..

We can only hope he starts to find the back of the net. It’s getting daft now - 4 seasons and we still haven’t found a system of scoring goals.
