Can't see any decent quality players wanting to come, Grealish / Kubo / Luiz all end up elsewhere. What can we offer? A new stadium in the championship. No European football is always going to be a put of to quality. Ex relegated players and nobodies for over the top wages it will be. Already shown desperation keeping Keane, even the rumours of bringing Harrison back says it all.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's paying the wages for top players that's the problem, we can't pay it and neither can most teams, unless wages drop and a cap is put in place the same teams will get the best players and will continue to win the trophy, the game is finished and I can't see it changing anytime soon, at my age I will never see Everton win the league again.

In a nutshell Skylark. They isn't any chance of the power clubs stranglehold on the league being loosened anytime soon, the PL don't care as it's a brand and the Power 5 are their cash cows and don't want anything or anyone potentially threatening that. Plain to see to all.

Don't knock ex-relegated players big shing. Pickford, Gana, Tarks all from relegated teams, to name but a few. They've all worked out pretty well. And while the jury is still out on Barry, he's a top international prospect, with a fantastic pedigree and has risen through the ranks of European football leagues quicker than anyone else I can think of in recent memory. And don't you rate Charlie Alcaraz? Plus there must be a reason Branthwaite decided to commit. There's more going on behind the scenes than we realise. TFG don't want us running out in the first game at Bramley Moore looking like a bunch of bell ends. Things will get sorted and there will be at least one big happy surprise, I'm sure. But don't listen to me, I've been drinking from bottles under the sink again.

{Ed025's Note - turps is not fortified wine LALN.. :)

Nothing will change in my lifetime especially winning the league, yes we will climb up the table and be more consistent, we will make the owners a bit of money from our new ground because that's what they are in it for, but unless we have a major shake up in football nothing will change, the big clubs will get the best players and pay them big wages which are obscene and the game will become more unrecognisable from what I grew up with, the money surrounding football players is sickening.

{Ed025's Note - i see things the same Skylark..

It’s relative to the amount of money the sport brings in, similar in NBA, NFL, PGA etc. Everyone starts the season on 0 points. We can’t challenge yet, hopefully we’re planning to improve season on season. We could start by signing some players.

I actually feel positive about things, as LALN said, there’s plenty to be optimistic about and for me this is the beginning of better days.

I’m creeping up to 50 now and was 18 when we last won a trophy, but haven’t felt this good about The Blues for years. Things are going to change, but just not overnight.

I’m going to stick my neck out and predict we finish 8th this season and kick on from there. I just think we’ve all been so wounded by the last 5 years or so that its hard for any of us to think differently about our club.

Have a cracking day all!

I’m positive too Benny. We should be looking to build a young talented squad that will improve. If we can play some decent football, and stay mid table we can look up and push on again next summer. Patience will be key, that’s hard to find in a modern football fan.
