Reading we have put a bid in for Delap, looks like he’s on his way to Everton.

{Ed025's Note - i would prefer a loan with an option to buy myself GB..

27 Jun 2026 14:56:02 Whatever it is, mate, he has to be an improvement on the other two.
27 Jun 2026 10:54:33
Bowen or a decent forward should be brought in regardless of what happens with Nidaye. Having flexibility and options to play different forward lines can only work as an advantage for us.
Personally, I think Ndiaye is more dangerous in central areas. Most of his best work comes from when he is able to drive at goal. Spurs goal, Chelsea goal and Sunderland goal come to mind. When he has the option to go either way, it is where he thrives. Teams will not be able to double up on him as easily in the central areas as it leaves too much space exposed in dangerous areas and 1v1 he can ghost past pretty much any player in the league.
I would be against a three of Grealish LW, Ndiaye 10 and Bowen RW next season to be honest. Get a decent striker in to knit it altogether and that will be one of the better attacks in the league.
He has barely played this WC and looked absolutely knackered at the end of last season, but we can't ignore how good he was before AFCON. He has had a little bit of a rest, not starting the first couple of games and came on last night, and broke a WC record. Scored a lovely goal too. No nonsense - ball out of his feet and heads towards goal and sends a lovely strike into the onion bag.
The lad's ability with the ball at his feet is undeniable and there is a reason that the big teams are all taking a look at him.
Of course, money changes everything but we should be aiming to keep him and bring better player in around him imo. His level will only go up if he isn't used as the outlet for every attack.

{Ed025's Note - im all for that BN and im a big fan of a fluid forward line, but unless we change the tactics of the big hoof up to a lamppost and hoping for 2nd phase ball then now matter who we get they will find it hard mate..

That forward line behind a decent striker would cause any team problems. We need better squad options off the bench too. With 5 subs, teams are winning games with pacey wingers in the last 20 minutes.

You aren't wrong Ed.
I thought at the start of the season we looked quite good, we had a good start bar the Leeds game where we didn't have a full side.
Hopefully Moyes feels that he can trust what is out on the pitch a bit more if we bring some quality in.
I think we need a LB, RB, CB, CDM, LW, RW and ST as a minimum, with 6 of those being starters to replace what we have in those positions.

{Ed025's Note - its asking a lot that BN, is that how many we need...yes at least, do i think we will get them...not a snowball in hells chance mate..

He said he would be against Grealish, Ndiaye, Bowen.
0
27 Jun 2026 12:53:26
I reckon Bowen will go to a London Club, not interested in us. We are still the Mugs willing to give players one last big pay day.

27 Jun 2026 13:29:59
Think Bowen would be an improvement on what we have at the moment myself.
1
27 Jun 2026 14:25:31
Bowen would be a massive addition at Everton but think we need to ask Mr Dyer for his permission first.
1
27 Jun 2026 14:42:30 He's 29, not 38, so what's the problem? He improves our team without a shadow of a doubt, so if the price is right, it's a no-brainer. Obviously, that's if the lad wants to travel up north and his father-in-law lets him!

27 Jun 2026 12:24:57
You stole my thunder Ed! I agree totally. I also agree that BN is absolutely correct, but as was shown in the final games of the season Moyes is not prepared to sacrifice his principles to do what is clearly in the best interests of the club. I'd love to see it happen but won't hold my breath.

{Ed025's Note - i dont like being this pessimistic Shropshire but this club has ground me down over recent years mate..

27 Jun 2026 13:00:19
It is Ed. Sunderland managed to drastically change their squad after promotion, so there is no reason why we can't. But i do agree, no chance we get those positions in.
26 Jun 2026 20:16:01

37 games, 1 goal.

26 Jun 2026 21:41:45
What position does he play?
0
26 Jun 2026 22:56:25
He's a defensive midfielder.
0
26 Jun 2026 23:14:41
Very defensive by the sound of it.
0
27 Jun 2026 07:50:59
Doing his job then.
1
27 Jun 2026 09:50:23
But is he any better than young Tim, who we appear to be trying to get shot of.
0
27 Jun 2026 11:50:34
No idea. Tim has some good attributes but he cannot pass a football.
26 Jun 2026 15:55:36
If Elliott Anderson is being sold for somewhere between 116-130m depending on who you believe over the fee, what is the going rate for Ndiaye if he wants to leave and we want to sell?
26 Jun 2026 09:23:57
From what I read it’s looking like 8 of the existing squad are going to be released and or sold, (Patterson, Beto, Barry, Iroegbunam, Ndiaye, Gana, O’Neil and Alcaraz) . Possibly to be replaced with Spence, Stones, Hackney, Bowen, Delap, Parrott, Grealish and George.
Would this give us a stronger squad if it where to happen?
0
26 Jun 2026 10:28:32
We won't improve next season with Moyes.
5
26 Jun 2026 10:40:26
We need better than that to improve. Getting Stones and Grealish would put a serious dent in the wage budget.
3
26 Jun 2026 11:31:21
Think Moyes would want to keep Beto, so we won't get Parrott and Delap. Bowen, George and Grealish, highly unlikely.
Spence and Hackney would be good, but do not want Stones, his best days are gone.
So we would possibly be bringing in five and letting seven go. That, to me, is not building a squad. Unless, of course, we fill the bench with youngsters who will never play.
1
26 Jun 2026 11:41:56
Totally agree Bmd, both Stones and Grealish would be very expensive fitness risks in terms of their wages. Stones has been injury prone for many years now, was a very good player at one time, but we need someone younger and more reliable particularly if Branthwaite is going to be absent for periods.
Delap, for me, sounds to be expensive at 40m for a player who has had one good season in the Championship and has no record to speak of in the Premiership.
1
26 Jun 2026 12:08:07
Delap for me would make sense as a 12 month loan with sensible option to buy thereafter.
Stones. There seems to be a modern trend of bringing in senior internationals and proven winners into squads, even if they don't play regularly. We could possibly be losing both Colman and Gana.
Even if he doesn't play regularly, having those qualities are partly why he (and Henderson) are currently in the England squad. He certainly improves our squad. I get the wages argument, but we don't know what he wants.
Both improve our squad for me.

Delap 1 goal all season.
Parrot 25 goals in 36 games + 5 international goals.
I know which one I prefer. I know no-one comes with a guarantee of goals, but those numbers seem to speak for themselves.
1
26 Jun 2026 13:00:19
Delap's goal record last season was poor, but if he were to play regularly? There is a good player here that needs the right team to play for. That's why I'd risk him with a loan spot.
He's got a bit of devilment about him that we've badly lacked up front for a long time.
He's also another player who was part of that England u21 squad that won the Euros a few years ago. Interestingly, so were Garner, Hackney, Spence.

26 Jun 2026 13:30:32
What would Delap bring to the team. He's slow, can't hold the ball up, he's similar to Beto but not as quick. He looked decent in a crap relegation fighting Ipswich team. Looks out his depth at Chelsea. Would've been better keeping dcl.

26 Jun 2026 14:10:53
Sounds sensible solution Djs, on Delap, if Chelsea were amenable to a loan only, probably want cash though, as they are rebuilding also.
Personally, I would like to see Bowen at the club, but I have read would be reluctant to leave London.
1
26 Jun 2026 16:50:50
I don't know which Delap some of our posters have been watching, but no resemblance to the lad I have watched. Beto would have scored a hatfull in that Chelsea side.
0
27 Jun 2026 11:50:45
Delap kept giving stupid freekicks away when I watched him last season, trying to be the big hard man, and you can't do that in this day and age with VAR. He would be suspended more than he played.
25 Jun 2026 17:29:34
Can we sue the FA for for deducts points from Everton but not from Man City Burnley one compensation why can we not get competition from city?
0
25 Jun 2026 20:01:56
Because City haven't been found guilty yet. 🤷♂️
0
26 Jun 2026 00:59:56
When found guilty of all charges, the EPL will charge Everton with a 60 point deduction.

26 Jun 2026 16:52:59
They will be tied up in so many legal knots by City, plus the Saudis are very very important to UK Government. Prem are walking on eggshells.
0
{Ed001's Note - City are owned by Emiratis, nothing to do with the Sauds.}
0
26 Jun 2026 21:04:15
I know ED, my premise was/is all UK Governments are desperate to keep these very very powerful Arab States onside. On a more positive note our City is turning Everton Blue, Andy is coming. 🤣
25 Jun 2026 14:15:11
We are still being linked with Liam Delap. I just kinda hope it's lazy journalism of the forwards we have been linked with and there have been a fair few. He is not one that particularly excited me, if I am being perfectly honest. What say my fellow Evertonians. 🤔
1
{Ed025's Note - he was very good in the championship TB for Ipswich but has been very underwhelming at Chelsea, again mate its how he would fit in to our kick and run system and i dont really see him as a target man..
0
25 Jun 2026 15:06:40
Delaps no better than Beto.
1
25 Jun 2026 15:58:26
Well, the rumour is Chelsea are looking for 40m. So they are trying to make 10m on a player who did absolutely nothing in the one season they had him. Loan with an option to buy but not at 40m.

26 Jun 2026 21:59:04
He was good ED, very good is a stretch.
