Why do some on here bang on about DM having an eye for great players and finding a bargain, I thought he was a manager and not a scout, the likes of Coleman was was introduced to him by Willie McStay, moyes didn't actually go out and find him, wish people would stop saying let's see who Moyes brings in, Moyes doesn't do the buying and never has, h.

But who sent them to watch him, who gives the ok let's sign him, probably Moyes.

That’s the same as pretty much every premier league manager. Every team has their own scouts. The manager gets the final say.

We've had nearly 10 years of recruitment that, by and large, has been as underwhelming as much as it has been costly. Mainly because we had too many people wanting different players, each with differing ideas. It hasn't really worked out too well for us on the whole. DM is old school in the sense that he served his early managerial years watching numerous games per week, casting his eye on hundreds of players. That did work out quite well for us at that time.
Obviously, the game has changed considerably and so has the way clubs recruit. Instead of a manager, his assistant and scouting network, we now have analysts, DoF etc that cover the majority of the recruitment process. For me, the manager still has to have final say on a player being bought as it's them that have to integrate them into their team and system. In the past, despite having some strong characters as manager, there has been an obvious disconnect when it comes to transfers. I heard that DM took the job under the condition that he had a lot of say in who comes and goes. I'm happy with that as, although he hasn't got it right every time, he has a good track record in the transfer market. He also knows what type of character fits in with the ethos of this club, more so than the likes of Rafa for example.
We know you don't like him, you haven't wanted any manager that we've had since I've been on these pages which begs the question, who would be your ideal man to lead us into a new stadium and a new era?

Your correct bluepotato I haven't wanted any of the appointments that we have made since DM left the appointments have been shocking, I wish I had the answer to who we should have asked but I haven't and maybe it wouldn't have mattered who we had as manager as the owner would still have messed it up . we are now in a better place with our new owners and I just think the appointment of DM is just a backward step but thanks for the grownup reply mate unlike some .

It's not been too bad so far, skylark, especially when we think of how we started this season. There will be enforced changes for next season with 13 players out of contract so I suppose that will bring more challenges for the club to overcome. Integrating almost half a squad in one go could be quite tough, players needing to get used to each other etc, we seen that with Forest the other year when they brought in practically an entire new squad. I think, for that reason, DM could be the right man for the next few seasons but not so much long term. He's a very disciplined and organised manager and I think that's exactly what we need right now with all these changes.
I didn't want Moyes a few years ago but, after the likes of Rafa, Lampard and Dyche, the club wore me down and I was happy that it was a safe pair of hands to steady the ship. It's never easy for a manager going back to an old haunting ground, most don't work out for one reason or another, but he's had a good start with the players that the previous manager couldn't get a tune out of. Just hope it continues mate as going the game is no longer a chore as it was the first few months.

100% agree with everything you say. But two years tops for me then hope he moves on,

Can I have a holiday to?

Think he will get 3 minimum mate, obviously results and a sense of progression will play a part in him staying or going. Time will tell mate eh.
