If you buy a player from a second devision club, you pay 2nd devision prices.
You may pick up a bargain, but you may also have to right of your investment, and move the player on, but what you don't do is pay Barsalona prices, for potential, that may or may not develop into a top talent, and £50mill is what you pay for the finished article, not for someone who may, at a future date be a top player.

Well it's not second division it's Championship. If you want the finished article you would be paying anything between 75 to 100m+. Just look at the recent prices some clubs are paying.
Agree 50m for a young player with potential is a risk. But it's not like we haven't had scouts watching the lad. We either pay it or move on, but the selling club have every right to ask what they want.

Don’t agree with that mate.

Maybe five seasons ago but the game has changed significantly, especially when it comes to transfer fees. 50m for a homegrown player won't get you the finished article at all these days.

Guys, you pay what you negotiate. There are many factors that dictate the price, one of them being the selling team not wanting to sell, Bowen was £20m, he has been brilliant. Sancho went for £75m. Elanga went for £15mil to forest, now 55m 2 years later.
Mctominay is now one of the best players in serie a, i'd hazard a guess youd have to pay Napoli a fortune to get him, not the £25m they payed.

Players are like stocks, they go up and down, and you should try get them when they are undervalued, and it can be done, Moyes has been a master at it.
