How mad is this season 2 weeks ago we was talking of possibly getting CL football or any European spot. If we don't get anything tonight and the players don't pull there fingers out in are remaining fixtures we could end up 15th which I hate saying.
Would still be a decent season points wise with the squad we have at the moment. We need someone to convert the chances we create. All the other teams seem to have 2 forwards we don't. Beto is to hit and miss and Barry is just miss. Hope we get something tonight.
04 May 2026 16:37:01
Hope we get at least a point RM, but all three would be special, bring it on mate.
04 May 2026 16:50:51
If Forest can put 3 past Chelsea, we can do the same with MC mate.
04 May 2026 17:41:00
To be fair, we put 3 past Chelsea, GB.
Hoping for a season defining game tonight: stop City winning the league, propel us into a strong end of the season, and set us up for an end of season relegation decider (without us being at risk of being relegated) .
04 May 2026 18:23:52
I'm all for that mate.
04 May 2026 18:24:47
Moyes will go for a pt, as usual, sitting back with City is no good, we need to go for a lucky win, but he will bring Barry on in 70 min and then we are down to ten men again, f***.
06 May 2026 16:56:06
This post didn't age that well, Lee. 😄

With Coleman and Patterson continuously sat on the bench every game, knowing we need a right back to replace Coleman for next season. Should we not also be looking for 2 right backs with the other to replace Patterson. As the manager doesn’t select him, do we assume Patterson will be leaving as well? Or. Are O’Brien and Garner going to be back up right backs again, same as this season.
I was hoping we start a season with a settled and younger centre back pairing of Branthwaite and O’Brien with Tarkowski and Keane as back up. If we get into European football we don’t want to be playing all our centre backs twice a week, when injuries catch up at the wrong times, e.g. Branthwaite latest one.
David Moyes was making reference the other day about the number of night games Everton have had to play this season.
Think 7 in total was mentioned. Don’t know whether this was referring to Monday night playing or inconvenience to fans travel arrangements. Either way the club, manager, players and fans will have to get used to night games if qualify for European football again, probably on a Thursday, and again on a Sunday for Premier football.
In Burnley’s promotion season last year, I read in Friday’s Daily Mail that they had 30 clean sheets. James Trafford was in goal for that season. I can see him replacing Pickford as England’s No1 goalkeeper either following the World Cup or the Europeans in 2 years time. No doubt Pep has got plans for him at City but I wouldn’t mind him being at Everton. Unfortunately we not looking for a new goalkeeper at the moment. Or are we?
04 May 2026 17:21:02
Well, our sub keepers don't look great, Brian.
04 May 2026 17:53:15
They don't, BMD, that's what I was thinking. I wouldn't feel confident if we lost Pickford with injury for any length of time. That's what made me think of Trafford as he's the best home grown keeper around at the moment.
Ramsdale, Henderson and Pope are not England first choice material in my eyes.
Just watched the Chelsea game. Delap done nothing other than reduce his valuation to £10m.
04 May 2026 15:14:00
Please, No McNeil today. George should be given deserved minutes and if Dibling needs to prove himself, give him some bloody minutes too. I know McNeil will play, but it’s getting tiresome now when you are deflated before a ball is even kicked.
04 May 2026 15:35:19
I agree with you, Yam Yam, but I cannot see Moyes going for a youngster against City!
04 May 2026 15:50:42
No chance, Yam Yam, mate be the same team as last week, mate.
04 May 2026 17:21:48
Pity.
04 May 2026 17:36:44
And that was against a team trying to stay up last week. This week we play a title contender. I love Moyes, but please try something different for God's sake. Go for them, unleash the players we have, and see how good we can be.
I know we will sit back, giving them possession, go 1-0 down, then 2-0 down, and then give them a game when it's all over.
04 May 2026 17:54:43
The argument that certain players are not Premiership ready or are too slender to play is getting past a joke now. Our so called Premier ready players, with the exception of a few, are failing week in, week out, and we are sliding further and further down the table.
If you were under 21 and were offered a role at us in the next window, would you come? Moyes is killing dreams and not planning for the future. Please move upstairs, bring in Lee Carsley, and let’s join the ever growing number of clubs who embrace their youth structure.
04 May 2026 10:45:03
I know it is that time of the year when we start talking about who we would like to bring in and we all have our own opinions which is right. But I think what we need to do is try and steer clear of all these older players that are looking for a last big pay day.
Over this season some of the best games I have sern have involved either Bournemouth or Brentford. I watched Bournemouth at the weekend and they were excellent. Oldest player was 28 and work rate was fantastic.
04 May 2026 13:50:40
Spot on Bobslad, but that is not really the Modus Operandi of our manager.
I would expect the likes of Soucek, McGinn etc. Although some of the older heads would still improve us imo, it doesn't really sort the long term future out for us.
04 May 2026 15:16:41
If it wins us games, none of us will be bothered by how old the player is.
We desperately need a RB, Striker, RW, LB and replacements for Gana and Tarks. As long as they stay fit and win us games, I'll back them. Don't need players past it and sat on the treatment table.
It would be nice to get long term targets in so we can develop them like Baines or Coleman. I'd hoped Aznou, Armstrong and Dibling are some of those, but they are getting no game time, which concerns me. does Moyes not rate them?

I reckon West Ham are now favourites for the drop. Had thought it would be Forest but their win against Sunderland was reminiscent of us against Brighton a few years back so think they are safe now.
If the Hammers go down, does anyone think we might sign a couple of players given they've worked with Moyes? Are there any of their players that would walk into our first team?
{Ed025's Note - Bowen and Fernandez i would say BR..
03 May 2026 20:17:19
The left back Diouf looks a player.
03 May 2026 22:22:19
They have to be over 30! I think he likes Soucek, he fits the bill.
03 May 2026 22:23:28
Diouf, Wan-Bissaka, KWP, Soucek, Fernandes, Bowen, Summerville and Castellanos all improve us imo BR, which just goes to show what an average team we have. We have 5 very good players.
03 May 2026 22:57:56
None. Want players used to winning things, not players used to relegation battles. We've had enough of those.
03 May 2026 23:05:17
In that case we wouldn't have signed Jagielka or Idrissa Gueye. Good players can sometimes be in a poor team.
03 May 2026 21:00:56
Interesting Ed. My mate, who's a saints fan, said Fernandez is the player worth £40m and not Dibling. I like Bowen but don't see him leaving as he's their captain.
Any thoughts on Summerville?
{Ed025's Note - hes a talented guy BR but is very in and out i would say, but we are well stocked with left wingers mate..
04 May 2026 07:43:33
Agree with BMD on that.
04 May 2026 09:49:47
And, remind me, Ricktee, just exactly what we have won with those players?
04 May 2026 09:50:52
It's a team game, if a team gets relegated, then that's because the entire squad hasn't done the business over the season, not the fault of one player.
I don't think we can afford to be too picky, especially if we don't get European football next year.
Imagine if we do buy a player from a relegated team and he is a day over 30, some fans in here will lose their s***!
04 May 2026 12:04:13
And if we do buy a young player and they don't have an immediate impact, we'll slag them too. A balanced approach is what's needed. We couldn't have signed Grealish when he was 26. When we're challenging higher up the table, we can also compete for players in their peak. I don't care how many 30 year olds win us our first trophy since 95.
04 May 2026 14:35:40
So keep Pickford, Keane, Tarks, Gueye. As you think these will win us a trophy?
04 May 2026 15:18:58
Pickford could Brass.
The rest should move to squad players and we should be buying quality to replace them. If the Hammers have players who improve us and want to work with Moyes again, I don't have a problem with signing them.
04 May 2026 17:24:00
Fair enough let's see how it goes.

40m, Dibbling, 30m, Barry, 20m, Merlin, = £90m.
We are told that Moyes has the final word on transfers, if so, for god's sake, take the cheque book off him.
The obvious need was for a right back, a goal scorer, and a right winger.
Know one could know if the money had been spent in these areas that it would definitely have changed our outcome this season, I submit, it would.
03 May 2026 11:52:44
Two full balls and a striker are a must for the summer. No chance we won't strengthen in those areas.
03 May 2026 11:57:20
For sure, JB, and that's the minimum incoming we need.
03 May 2026 12:23:32
Roma (I mean Everton) wasn't built in a day. Emphasis should be on quality over quantity.
4 solid signings and we instantly have a much better team. No striker, no progress.
03 May 2026 12:44:38
Has to be three minimum, then keep building year on year.
03 May 2026 13:19:49
£90 million. Madness. I had never heard of Rohl, though he has looked decent in patches and will improve. Not even mentioning Barry. Thought £40 million for Dibling was way too much at the time, and need to see him get game time.
Still expensive, but the jury is still out on that. 1 for me, give him a pre season and an attacking fullback behind who overlaps him to give him that bit of space to turn and do what he does instead of passing backwards all the time.
03 May 2026 22:28:15
Not complete madness since they will mature in about five years. Only problem is I will be over 90 by the time it happens. Let's hope that we recruit players who improve the first eleven, can play in the positions we have needs for, and can play right away without sitting on the bench festering.
03 May 2026 22:59:50
Or play the lad in his favourite position and not out on the wing. 🤷♂️
02 May 2026 23:20:41
Mission for whole team in the summer - grow dread locks - chances are 50% of the season would be playong against 10 men!
{Ed025's Note - love it Cookie..
03 May 2026 08:57:45
Now that's a tactic. 🤣
03 May 2026 11:53:01
If we did that they'd charge the rule within a week.
03 May 2026 20:30:11
Seen the rule they're bringing in at World Cup. Supposedly it's a red card to cover your mouth when talking to opposing players. Guarantee we will be 1st team to get a player red carded, then they will scrap the rule.
02 May 2026 13:06:01
I'd really like to see us properly lean into a couple of the young lads rather than just hearing paper talk about them.
For me, Harrison Armstrong has already shown enough to be around the first-team regularly. He looks composed, does the simple things right, and doesn't seem fazed at all. Feels like the kind of player who could quietly grow into a proper Premier League midfielder if we back him.
Same with Braiden Graham, goals are goals at any level, and he's clearly got that natural striker instinct. I'm not saying throw him in as first choice, but give him minutes, especially if we're struggling for a goal.
You never know unless you actually play him.
The one I'm most curious about though is Justin Clarke. I'd love to see him given a proper look, even if it's just early cup games or coming off the bench. He's got that bit of directness we sometimes lack. Then if it looks like he's not quite ready yet, send him out on loan in January and let him get proper minutes.
Feels like we've been crying out for a pathway for years, and now we've actually got a few knocking on the door. Would just be nice to see us commit to it a bit more instead of always trying to play the "experienced" players/favourites.
03 May 2026 11:53:32
'You don't win anything with kids.'
03 May 2026 13:40:33
Moyes will never pick kids. He has no interest in developing them for the next manager in a couple of years time. That's why he's going to stick with what we have such as McNeil, Keane, Tarks, Myky and Gueye over the likes of Rhol, Anzu, Dibling and Iroegbunum etc.
