If we pay anything over 30m for this lad, Villareal have had our pants down imo.

I don’t know, about the going rate for a French U21 player/ starting striker in LaLiga I’d say. Would be worth double that if he has a good season or two in the Prem. Type of player we should be signing imo.

Yeah high price, ain't his release clause £34.5 million. Not seen enough of him last season BN but seen in U21s, nothing special from what I've seen but if does sign let's as supporters actually get behind the lad and not be on him from the off or too critical like with Beto and DCL, be interesting seeing the fee and north of £25m -£30m would seem ott on evidence seen.

Cheap.
01 Jul 2025 20:25:15
Problem is he has set figure in release clause. It'll probs be over 30 million even if we pay less than release fee. But it's not our money. Just hope if he comes, he scores a hateful of goals.

I have to agree BlueNose he looks to be extremely clumsy with the ball at his feet but good in the air. I’m not here to knock anyone before they even put on a Blue shirt as he will have my full support once he does. But what I’ve seen of his it doesn’t inspire confidence.
I know we’re not at the top table when it comes to signing the top players, but how is it we always struggle with strikers. We’ve had some bang average down through the years and unfortunately some are those are treated like cult heroes because mediocrity has become the norm. I can’t understand how other mid table clubs ie Brentford, Bournemouth to name a few can get in decent strikers but always seem to struggle badly when it comes to this recruitment. Goals win games, good striker as we all know is vital to this.

The French national team love to blood extremely clumsy but tall forwards.
01 Jul 2025 21:18:26
He scored the same number of goals in LaLiga as Vinicius Junior last season.
01 Jul 2025 21:41:22
That JB, is what you call a fair point.
01 Jul 2025 22:03:22
Hey look, he might be bloody awful, but let’s give him a chance ay? Could end up being the next Thiery Henry.
{Ed025's Note - im with you JB..
01 Jul 2025 22:47:26
If they structure the deal to be less than £30m with add ins takjnfir above £35m I wouldn’t be surprised. Let’s give the guy a chance.
Based on the games Beto played last season, if he’d played all 38 prem games, he could well have been in double figures for the season. If this lad does the same then we could have a decent forward line between them.
01 Jul 2025 23:15:51
Talk about stating the obvious JB. Of course he would be worth double if he had a couple of good seasons in the Prem mate.
My point is that from what he has shown up to this point, 30m is very pricey. We already have Beto, who I was championing over DCL ever since he came btw. Whilst I am aware Beto has his limitations and is very unpolished, I don't see the point in spending 30m on a near carbon copy of him. Beto also looked twice the player than Barry, in Serie A, the year before we got him and people think we over spent on Beto.
Personally, I would rather trust Beto with more minutes and use Chermiti more/ get a better priced back up in. Put the money into the RW or attacking mid position and get an already proven and ready to go player who can create and score. Look at most PL teams last season and most have them, even the mid table sides - Cunha, Eze, Mbuemo, Bowen, Kluivert, Gibbs White, the list goes on.
All that being said and as people have rightly commented, of course I will get behind the lad if he comes in but it just seems like a very important summer for us, we haven't got huge amounts of cash and this move does not fill me with confidence. There are much better strikers (complete) out there for less money.
What is for sure is that he won't be anywhere near Henry's level and comparing him to Vinnie Junior in terms of goals is reaching. Igor Aspas got 23 goals in La Liga, signed for Liverpool and got 0. Went back to La Liga and hit an average of 20 goals a season the next 4.
I am not saying the potential isn't there but we need a striker to hit the ground running straight away and for 30m we should expect to get that.
01 Jul 2025 23:22:14
To add. If we are going for Barry, I would rather get rid of Beto to Leeds or someone for 25/ 30 million, use that money to sign Barry (in essence a younger version) and that get a different profile of striker to choose from. Whilst I would prefer Beto out of the two of them and think he has earned his spot, it makes no sense to have such similar options up top. Will make us 1 dimensional and unable to mix things up. With the work that goes into pre-match prep by the analysts, we will be much easier to figure out.
01 Jul 2025 23:56:45
The way I see it, after watching a bit of him and listening to what his current club's fans have to say, we have a younger version of Beto if the deal goes through. Look at what Moyes managed to do with Beto which, at his age and with little scope for improvement, was almost miraculous.
If we get this lad through the door I think he is young enough to improve vastly under the right manager and coaching set-up.
30m for a young player isn't that much these days mate, the market is crazy. I'd still sell Beto while we can claw back most of his initial transfer fee and bring in another forward in all honesty.

An awful lot of eggs being counted.
02 Jul 2025 06:16:34
And not a chicken in sight.
02 Jul 2025 07:51:34
Why are we bothered about his price tag, the whole scouting network and DofF must be all in agreement as TFG don’t look like the sort of outfit to waste money. Are we still hungover from the Moshiri era? Don’t judge the lad until we’ve seen what he can do .
To quote Ted Lasso and specifically Walt Whitman
‘Be curious not judgemental’.
02 Jul 2025 07:58:48
I'm still hopeful of gettingvVlahovuc on loan. Juventus just signed Jonathan david so he won't get games there.
02 Jul 2025 10:00:19
To be fair 30m for a young striker is loose change now in this loony league.
02 Jul 2025 11:47:28
Interesting people’s differing take on him, from what I’ve seen his control and feet are much better than Beto’s. Needs to be more clinical though, albeit it was only one half of football but he did miss 2 chances in the U21 semi’s. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. 55 goals in 126 professional games is a decent return, especially at 21.
02 Jul 2025 18:06:16
Let’s be honest £30 million really is pennys in this day and age. It’s cheap and a good price.
