Why is it if we make a bid for a player that gets knocked back we then take days to prepare another bid?
Surely we must have a pretty good idea what they want, and so must know the first offer is going to get knocked back. I've bought houses quicker.

It's infuriating. I honestly believed we'd do things differently this summer, and it was a massive opportunity to start a fresh. But no, its amatuer hour all over again.

I see we are strongly linked with the Botafogo gk now. Great, i couldn't sleep without knowing we have secured another back up gk.

Maybe try, a RB or better 2. A rw or 2, cm or 2 and the rest. Seriously what are we doing.

It's pretty obvious that we are desperate to recruit players so teams will try to take advantage. We have an idea what a player is worth regardless of the ridiculously high expectations of the selling team. We constantly paid out too high a fee, too high wages and too long contracts during the Moshiri years and the fact that we are determined not to follow the same course and mistakes is a plus in my eyes. These high fees will come down the closer we get to the end of the transfer window, not ideal I agree from a squad building viewpoint but the precess of correcting the problems of the past will take quite a few transfer windows. If we continue to throw money away we will never recover. let's wait until the end of the window and see how we are then.

Exactly Mike we are finally getting rid of them now mate,

I am all for not throwing money at it, and giving out stupid contracts. You can buy quality at a good price, as Brighton and Brentford have proven many times over.

Just a quick example, you could have picked up Barry and Woltemade for £15m last summer. Tarkowski is another.
I just cannot believe there are no good enough rw, rb, cms, or every other position we need, going for a good price. You can choose to pay a fortune or scout better. This premier league proven bs boils my pish, Branthwaite wasnt pl proven, neither was Ndyie and they are some of our best.

In our defence, others seem slow off the mark this summer too. Bar the relegation teams.

I’m sure putting a bid together is quite complex, and not just a case of upping by a few more million they’ll be an overall price it’s just how it’s structured more up front more with add ons and then the legal boys will look at it and I’ve never known a solicitor to do anything quickly.

Sorry Big C, but all of that should have been done in advance of making the offer. The club pretty much knew that first offer would get knocked back so they should already have a plan of response. Whether that is increasing the offer or changing the structure of the deal. Nothing to do with legal team until a sale has been agreed.

Brass are you a brief? But you are right the figures and options should have been prepared beforehand.

02 Aug 2025 15:05:56
Maybe he just had dealings with a lot of them Big C. If you know what I mean.

Of course it is all worked out, affordability, options, strategy, all of it. Oh for the return of ED002.
