How Everton can land their next Wayne Rooney this summer. Can you believe this article, and I call it that loosely — are comparing Liam Delap to Rooney. You could not make it up, really. Smfh

Just read there is a good reason AJ from Celtic has gone quiet. The RB Celtic were hoping to sign as a replacement has had to have surgery after injuring himself in pre-season. Not sure they will let the Canadian Scot go if they can't get their preference in for a replacement.

Hiya Blue it's hard not to get involved when all around are signing players and we're not. I don't really know what finances are available but to think that all other clubs who we class as lesser names than us do deals in a flash. I know before people jump on me that deals are being done with months of prep work in place; we should have started ours when we hit the wall last season but the so called man who has the final say Moyes took himself off to the World Cup for a month working for Talksport instead of heading up the list and helping with securing players. We have got players in but only Norgaard as of now is new. George and Rohl were here last season on loan to buy deals so they were effectivley prior purchases.
No right back in, need of another striker, and I like Grealish but with no pace and no overlapping left back means all our attacks would need to come from the right. I don't want McNeill anywhere near the first team and if Ndyie leaves that's are only option. I am trying to be possitive and hope we get in a few but a striker is another priority as B &B are useless. I just wonder if this multie club model works as you can't concentrate your priorities when you have two to operate it seems we're the second choice as a few who have been tracked by us are ending up there at Roma Castianos and Mollina being the case.

Hackney.
06 Aug 2026 20:38:23
Just a heads up. We were never interested in Mollina. No contact, nothing.
06 Aug 2026 22:55:45
We have done business and are likely to do more. Don't put any weight in the hundreds of 'news' stories telling you we have or haven't put bids in for players.
Yes, we need a right back, and I think we'll get one.
A striker that is better than what we have is not an easy thing to find, unfortunately, unless you have a bottomless pot of money.
06 Aug 2026 18:18:54
Hopefully we see a lot more of Armstrong, Dibling, Azunu, Rohl, and George - added to Branthwaite / IBrien and new art back - hopefully a new forward and I’d be happy.
If the style of play / ball retention hasn’t changed then I think Moyes will be gone pretty sharpish - I think we have favourable fixtures to start so hoping a definite top 10. 😩
06 Aug 2026 15:47:11
What's everyone's views on Norgaard?
I don't know anything about him other than it was £7m and he's 32. No idea on wages etc.
Price wise can't complain as you don't get anything for that these days as I'm sure that will be the price for an average Championship player now.
I'm assuming we need to sell now before we can continue with other targets, otherwise we could end up like Newcastle and end up selling our better players and going backwards again.
06 Aug 2026 17:38:11
I agree in most things said, but the amount of time we've been without a right back and a decent left back is not a matter of patience anymore. Regardless of who's been in charge of coaching, recruitment, or the general running of the club, it's dereliction of duty to leave it this long.
06 Aug 2026 12:44:22
I would strongly question the assertion by Everton owners TFG when after the appointment of Angus Kinnear they claimed that they now had a world class CEO and a world class recruitment team.
I've seen nothing to indicate that this is the case and don't remember Leeds having a good recruitment record.
I would never have heard of Kinnear if it wasn't for his idiotic "Maoist" comment into the plans for an independent football regulator.
I would've been much more impressed if Everton had pinched Brighton's or Bournemouth's recruitment team, as both employ a football first data based recruitment strategy that Kinnear refused to employ at Leeds, which probably contributed to their relegation.
It would appear that Everton have done Leeds a massive favour as they have been able to modernise their recruitment and the fans are much happier.
I thought this was supposed to be the plan for Everton with the appointment of Kinnear but it would appear not to be the case.
Our unhealthy recruitment record under Kinnear is a result of TFG appointing a CEO to oversee the transition into a new stadium and his lack of understanding of the footballing side of the equation.
His "happily dissatisfied" assessment of last season didn't help matters giving the impression that our supporters are just compliant underlings and shows a lack of ambition and an acceptance of mediocrity.
While both sides of football are important it would appear that TFG heavily value the commercial side of football ahead of the footballing bread and butter side where us supporters crave success.
06 Aug 2026 14:32:13
While I agree with your post, the constant references to Brighton and Bournemouth's recruitment "successes" really is tedious. I mean, their recruitment is that good, they never win anything. If that's the model you're all happy with, count me out.
I desperately want to win something. And yes, before everyone dives in with they find gems and play better football than us, they still don't and won't win anything.
06 Aug 2026 17:13:22
I think it's a bit unfair to call into question any of the recruitment right now.
You should be buying 2 or 3 main players a year at most with a couple of young players to grow into the team. Instead he's had to deal with losing 10 players in his first preseason and had to replace and then more this summer. On top of that, we've brought no money from sales, which really does hamper you in the market.
This has always been our problem, and one that won't be rectified for the next 3 or 4 windows.
Next year, I think, will be very different with the new manager coming in, but for this season we'll do well enough to be top 10, with again the possibility of Europe.
We all need to put things in perspective. New owners, new stadium and having to develop it behind the scenes, new backroom team, new recruitment team, new youth set up and so much more. We all need to be patient and let things develop, nothing is straightforward or quick these days.
06 Aug 2026 17:27:47
Great post! Let's all get some perspective!
06 Aug 2026 17:39:10
Brighton + Bournemouth recruitment has been brilliant, but that does not guarantee success, Big Reg.
A lot more factors come into play, but they have consistently bought and sold for huge profits. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to follow a selling model, but we definitely need to find a better class of players at an affordable price.
07 Aug 2026 03:32:08
We are on a 4/5 year project & yet some people think we should be buying players of world class pedigree already.
We have had decades of being a nothing team with no silverware & no cup pedigree. We need to build slowly & gradually become a name again.
Moyes has steadied the ship, led us through the stadium change & will get us comfortably mid table this season.
Boring but necessary.
Hopefully, his contract won't be renewed & we get a forward thinking younger coach next season.
We need patience, fellas. Moshiri proved you can't just throw money at a problem to fix it.

Since our club seem to struggle to get overseas signings over the line, maybe it's time to go back to the Hammers for Wan Bissaka. If they feel they need two right backs, which in my opinion there do, they can look for one other, but it's way overdue to have a new right back pulling on our royal blue jersey.
What say my fellow Evertonians UTFT
06 Aug 2026 14:12:01
Totally agree, you are stating the plain facts of the matter.
The time we have taken to get a Rb in means that decent ones have increasingly become short in supply.
06 Aug 2026 11:17:55
West Ham have 3 right backs now. Go in for Wan Bissaka. Know what we'd be getting and definitely improves us.
06 Aug 2026 13:04:54
At the start of the window, I'd have said no. Now I'd gladly sign him. It is a disgrace we haven't signed a RB yet. And I see now Bournemouth are signing the Sevilla RB for near £10m.
If I had any faith, we would actually sign a good RB in the window, I'd be patient, but there is no evidence at all to suggest we will.
06 Aug 2026 13:57:19
Plenty of time till the 1 Sept, mate.
{Ed025's Note - the thing is GB that they wont be ready to start the season mate, so we would be starting off on the back foot...again..
06 Aug 2026 16:07:28
Yeah Ed but aren't these sooper dooper megastars ultra fit and can play immediately
{Ed025's Note - they have to get used to the system and the other players around them though GB, plus most have them will not have played for a few months what with the WC and holidays...even the sooper dooper ones mate.. :)
06 Aug 2026 08:05:44
Not reading drivel blue this wass on Sky and also Everton FC who also posted a cropped picture of him in an Everton kit. As for the Kinear post my mate is a Leeds fan and former club photographer so the former is how you would say from the horse's mouth. Deal after deal fell through due to his negotiations procedure.
It looks like a repeat of those kind of negotiations are begining to appear with some of are deals. But as you quoted and with good intentions until the club announces the transfer it is just pie in the sky unless it comes from the horse's mouth as the saying goes.
06 Aug 2026 12:46:43
I just try not to get caught up in it all, in all honesty, mate. I didn't expect any last minute glitches in the deal, it was just awaiting the club announcing the deal was done for me.
I can't judge the recruitment team at what went on at Leeds.
I will judge them on what they do, or don't do, for us. That's 4 through the door thus far, although they need to be addressing the RB and forward situation out as we speak, mate. If they don't fill both of them positions then it's definitely a worry.
05 Aug 2026 22:53:50
Selling or loaning Dibling - as well as likely selling Barry and Alcaraz - mayb Azunu too would be a great indictment of our recruitment team.
Need to start making some of our transfers hits rather than flops.
06 Aug 2026 09:11:32
Dibling, Alcaraz and Aznou have hardly had a look in and are often brought on when the game has gone. Yet you see them as flops?
Experts everywhere these days.
06 Aug 2026 09:12:11
Sobs, I have no doubt that Dibbling is great in training, but I watched him all last season at home, just ran into trouble or turned back. Moyes was supposed to give him an intense pre-season, that has not materialised.
06 Aug 2026 09:48:02
All last season? He hardly played, and on the odd occasion he did get on, he was stuck on the wing (not his best position) with zero support from the full back. But hey, let's just sell them all, I mean, if there sitting on the bench, then they must be rubbish, right?
06 Aug 2026 10:15:48
All last season 'when he played'. I'm off. Just miserable on here.
06 Aug 2026 11:28:16
He played 349 minutes f***.
4 mins against Liverpool away.
9 mins against West Ham.
45 mins against Palace (our worst first half performance I have seen for a long time - by All players) .
4 mins v City away 2-0 down.
10 mins v Newcastle 4-1 down.
4 mins v Forest.
6 mins v Chelsea away 2-0 down.
Then he gets these games without the likes of JB, Gueye, Ndiaye and KDH in the team. Instead having O'Brien behind him, Tim, Charlie, McNeil and Beto around him.
15 mins v Arsenal.
88 mins v Burnley.
90 mins v Forest.
45 mins v Brentford.
19 mins v Leeds (we score 5 mins after him coming on) .
10 mins v Brighton (we score 10 mins after him coming on) .
1 min v Burnley.
If you fans want to have the opinion that he is not good enough from what they have seen, that is absolutely fine and everyone is entitled to their opinion but expecting a young attacking 19 year old to perform when the type of player he is thrives off rhythm, repetition and confidence, is absolutely criminal.
Of his 14 "games", he was given 10 minutes or less on 8 occasions. He played 45 minutes or more consecutively just 3 times in an entire season. Of the games where he did get a decent chunk of minutes, the results were WDWLD.
06 Aug 2026 11:33:57
I agree with you, Bluenose, well put over.
06 Aug 2026 12:42:24
He hardly got a look in last season, as BN points out, so it is very hard to cast judgement on the lad. Hopefully he is more settled up North and he can kick on from here.
Pre-season will be intense for every player, and TD has been included, so not too sure why you think it hasn't materialised.
He looks happier these days than when he first arrived, so fingers crossed that's a good indication of where his heads at right now.
06 Aug 2026 12:44:31
Wow, good stuff BN, mate.
06 Aug 2026 12:56:57
It's a sorry state of affairs when Dibling's minutes/appearances were so limited as stated by BN, yet Barry, who we all know is a world beater, appeared in every single game last season, either as a starter or as a sub.
The mind boggles.
06 Aug 2026 17:44:19
BN, I am going to cut and paste that and use it as a standard reply on other sites if that's ok. Absolutely spot on.
06 Aug 2026 18:07:54
Fire away, mate!
I get he might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the amount of s*** the lad gets is a disgrace, given the little time he has had on the pitch. Had he played 10-15 games with our better players, I could understand it.
I have never wanted a player to succeed so much since Naismith.
06 Aug 2026 22:04:04
Top posts BlueNose. Totally agree on Dibling, jury is out. I could not say whether he is a dud or a world beater, as he hasn't had much game time, as you indicated, as all have said, the lack of a right back worries me, though.
Re the likes of Dibling and Anzou, maybe they will be properly integrated into the 1st team and get more game time. Pre season and a lot of gloom on here. Let's see where we are at come end of November.
