Hey Ed I don't believe that for one minute we have £70 million to spend this summer, is this the same in the know journalists again who reckoned we'd be lucky to get £43 million for JB not a chance, all the players that are out of contract also have to be replaced, it's going to be a busy window mate I bet Davey has his targets, at last after what the Club has been through, happy days are a coming.
{Ed025's Note - i certainly hope so GB, the press are scandalous mate and just make up stories to suit their narrative and encourage clicks, £70m is just not enough to get us firing so i hope this is just clickbait because if its true we are back to square one with the amount of players we have let go, im just taking things as they come and see where we end up before either cheering or breaking down in tears.. :)

completely agree GB, I'd be surprised if we have a net spend of over £50 mill
I haven't seen anything to suggest our income streams have increased that would allow us to spend huge amounts.

Definitely think it’s someone just throwing numbers out there.
If we were to sign a few players for a combined £70m and they all had 3yr contracts then for PSR sake that would only be £23.3m spend this window as the fees are amortized over the length of the contract.
Be interesting to see how much we spend - just hope it’s on positions we need and players that will improve us.

I suppose it’s about wages as much as fees. 2 frees, 2 loans and 2 20/ 30 million purchases and we’d have a competitive squad.

I thought respected people had already come out and said we had 100m to spend.
We are at the bottom of the table by some margin for net spend in the last few years. I think we are the only PL club who is in the minus.

We've made substantial losses for the past 7 years, even in the early days of Moshiri when we spent recklessly, the most we spent was £177mill but with an income of £110mill.
Our biggest net spend in a season, EVER, is £68mill.
I know it sounds like I'm trying to p!55 on your chips, but I'm just trying to bring a touch of reality here.

I heard we have £70 million, 5 gold bullion bars, £5k on a Barclays debit card, £10.78 from down the side of the sofa and a handful of Tesco club card points to spend this summer….
