Would like the club to go for James Mcatee rather than Grealish. Mcatee is a Great nephew of Alan Ball and if he achieves anywhere the level Alan got to he would be okay. Build a team with Mcatee and Branthwaite in. Only problem is who would be skipper.

Ndiaye mate.

Ndiaye as captain GB? Why? What qualities as he to be skipper?

Why not he’s our best player after Jordan by a country mile, I think being Captain would make him even better, only my opinion mate.

Mcatee is the England u21 captain isn't he? Just saying.

He is mate and he’s also a good player, just think Ndiaye would be good he gives 100% every game, we have a hell of a good player there.

Ndiaye is a very good player but plays with his head down he is not Captain material.

Who has impressed me whenever I've seen him is Harvey Elliot. I can see him pushing for a move away, he really should be starting for a Prem team. Doubt it'll be to us though with the obvious sticking point. I've been unconvinced by McAtee I must say, clearly talented, but look a bit lightweights and often flatters to deceive - in my opinion.

Easy Branthwaite for captain, build a team around him. Majority of our best captains have been C/ H’s.

My thoughts exactly on Ndiaye DMS. Seen nothing in him to say he is captain material. Great player though yes. Jordan and Tarks stand out picks to replace Seamus currently. Agree on Harvey Elliott JB but as you say needs regular game time, McAtee is very unproven but undoubtedly talented.

Never give captaincy to flair players if you have other options. It can often have an effect on their performance negatively. I’d sooner have a steady influence. Like Tarks and maybe Branthwaite in the near future if he can commit to a contract extension.

When I played it was the big centre half or tough tackling midfielder who was captain but then again I am 64.

To me, the current captain pecking order is:
Coleman/ Tarks
Pickford
Gueye
Branthwaite
Can’t see anyone else filling that role after that lot. Depends on who we sign I guess.

It doesn't matter where they play. A great captain can be found in all positions through history. It does have to be someone who firstly has the respect of everyone in the squad. Someone who does all kinds of "extra" when welcoming new players to the squad, someone who is the hub off the pitch for players and someone who also optimises the effort and passion of the club. I like where Pickford has grown the last 3 years but he's always going to be (I mean this as kindly as I can) a bit of a twerp. I also personally don't like Gks as captain. Think with all the changes coming and that he's basically been club captain already for 2 years, it'd be hard to see past Tarks. It's really not a priority considering the fires that need to be put out this summer. Hopefully a new candidate will appear this new season. Tarks must be coming to his final year or 2 here anyway. I'd expect Coleman to either retire this summer or be offered a "player coach" position but I can't see him playing again at this club. He should be pushed to follow the Bainse route, he deserves a chance.
