In response to BP as to why the managers position would be under consideration.
He has 18 months left on his contract and whilst he’s done well in his time back with us we’re not playing great football. We’re set up poorly and play some really negative football, substitutes are baffling and it’s not a pretty watch at times.
We’re grinding out some results and are ok in the table but a large part of that is how bad some of the teams below us are performing.
I appreciate we’ve lost a lot of players over the summer but Moyes has overseen some of our recent recruitment and whilst some have been good - KDH and Grealish - some have been poor and in some cases questionable.
I imagine the new owners will genuinely be weighing up whether to back him in the January window with funds and allowing him to choose players he wants or whether they should see how it plays out and save any big squad investment to a new manager be that at the end of Moyes contract.
Not suggesting will happen but when you have a dynamic manager like Glasner who has worked wonders with the squad he has and not much investment and has a team playing attacking attractive football and able to compete in the league as well as get in to Europe becoming available in the summer you’d wonder if TFG may think of going for him and allowing him to continue the rebuild.
It is a rebuild and we are nowhere near the finished article but club seriously need to think whether that will be achieved by Moyes in 18 months or they should extend his contract or get ready for someone else to takeover from him.
Have a feeling a few may be disappointed by the January transfer window - we look like we’re safe due to some terrible teams below us and it’s unlikely well challenge for Europe so TFG may decide to not spend any or much money this window and reassess end of season.

I don't feel anyone is under the illusion that we will be going wild in January. Personally, I wouldn't be too bothered if we didn't go for a striker, I know we are crying out for one but it is hard enough to get one in at the best of times, let alone January. The market will not only be small but we will have to pay over the odds to get whoever in. I would rather us keep our powder dry and pick the low hanging fruit e. g. RB and LB.
Glasner has done a great job, no denying that but he hasn't just stuck with the cards dealt when taking over, he has built that side himself. They may not have chucked a lot of dough on the signings but most of their starting 11 now are signings that he has made. Henderson, Munoz, Lacroix, Wharton, Kamada, Saar, Pinot. 20m on Franca, 30m on Nketiah who barely even play.
I wouldn't be against seeing Moyes backed in the same way. Affordable signings with attributes that help the team going forward. He bought well in his first stint, similar to some of the signings that Glasner has made. I am not 100% sure if the Barry and Dibling signings were his but at least they will retain a large percentage of their value even if they don't hit the heights with us. Certainly better than chucking money on big club cast-offs like your Walcotts.
I would like to see the Friedkins back him with a few reinforcements in Jan, he has earned that at least. As long as the recruitment team are onboard with the signings and they represent value, I think they should help him finish as high up the table as possible.
A RB and LB would not cost ridiculous amounts and imo would be the quickest way to improving this side. We have options to sell the likes of McNeil, Beto or Patterson. There are definitely smart signings out there with attributes that any manager could utilise, be that Moyes or someone new - Morten Frendrup being one. Aggression, energy, stamina, pressing, ball-winner. He would be the perfect replacement for Gueye. Still only 24 as well and wouldn't cost a lot from Genoa.

I get where you're coming from mate but I just can't see them getting rid of DM after he's only had one window (forget last January as he had to come in and assess what he inherited) to sort out a team that was, at best, a shambles. As I said before, the summer window was a tricky one for him and the recruitment team to navigate as we had so many players out of contract. Coupled with that, he had to bring in players of better quality than what we were losing. Some signings have been a success, others not so much but that can be said for most teams. Every signing is a gamble and not all of them. work, we see that in every team in the league.
I'd like to think our new owners are not as volatile as FM was when it comes to the way managers are treated. I'm pretty sure they would have looked at the previous owner and seen how managers were discarded only for a rebuild to begin with a new man. Come 12 months or so later, we seemed to find ourselves in the same situation, proper ground hog day every year! I think our owners have more nous about them.
Is DM the perfect manager? No. Is he a good fit for Everton Football Club? Yes, and I think he has proven that in his first year back. We are in a better position than we have been for a long, long time and I don't think anything should jeopardise the progress that has been made. Getting rid of him is not the right move, backing him in the transfer market and giving him the time to improve this squad further should be the way they move forward. He was never going to right all the wrongs in one window and, in my opinion (for what it's worth) he deserves to be able to build this squad up.
People mention formations, tactics, substitutes etc. The only thing I can say is that our squad doesn't have great depth outside of the starting 11, we have to persevere until it can be strengthened. In all honesty, I'd rather be watching us play now than I have the last few years for one main reason. With the ones that have come and gone, not one of them instilled me with confidence that we were going to improve and stay away from relegation battles. Not one of those seemed to have any idea of how to get us up the league, it always seemed to be one step forward then two steps back. It doesn't feel that way these days.
I pointed out in another post in reply to you, gd, about chances created. With better forwards in the team, and possibly better full backs getting more crosses in, I think we would score more goals. That in itself would mean a better chance of turning draws into wins or defeats into draws and the league would look a little bit better.
I don't think we will be splashing the cash too much next month, it's a notoriously hard window to do business in. We may end up with a loan or two in order to flesh out the squad and improve our options in the problematic positions that we all constantly mention in these posts. I think that this will help us get through this season and then phase two of the rebuild can commence. I honestly think we are in a better position than we have been for a decade or so but it's going to take a bit of patience from us fans for a little while longer. There will be good results and bad results as we move forward but it feels good to be in the hands of owners who don't run the club depending on what mood they wake up in that morning. Keep the faith mate, we will be a different animal this time next year with a few more quality additions. Hopefully!
