rumour about us going for Shane Long, don't know what you think Blues, personally I like him when I see him play but 3 clubs in the last 4 years isn't the best sign.

I'm no expert - just a fan who views football through Royal-Blue-tinted glasses - but Shane Long does seem a decent footballer. He scores around 1 goal in 4 appearances - unlike Lukaku who's 1 in 2 for us - and Long's price tag (£12M) might therefore be steep. However, seemingly lesser players are moving for £10M plus. As for his goals record, we are too reliant on Lukaku and need our other players to up their contribution, so if they got close to Long's 1 in 4 I'm sure we'd be more than happy! I'd certainly take him ahead of Kone as an option in our forward line. However, RM seems stuck on Kone - who's admittedly had some good moments for us since his bad injury, but just doesn't perform at a consistently good enough level in my humble opinion
Also, does anyone see the irony that our interest in Long only appears after the dark side have made a move? If we whinge about West Ham and Byram, what about our apparent sudden interest in Long?

If true it is just normal for our beloved Club, little bit of unhappiness seeps through to tffa and the hierarchy and PR goes into overdrive. Very quiet on the takeover front could also have something to do with it.

I'm sure the people looking at the books will scrutinise them until the very last minute before making any sort of decision John. Twitter can jump to as many conclusions as it likes, I'll personally wait until either the club or the consortium tell us what is happening.

I am a fan of Shane Long in the sense that he's quick, strong, good in the air and works hard but he can't finish to save his life. If we are going for a back up striker it needs to be someone who can score goals (ie Remy) and not another Jelavic.
