Calvert lewin to Newcastle what would be everyone feeling on that.

{Ed025's Note - i would be gutted bretto, i think given the proper service and a quality player supporting him he would be top class mate..

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jun 2024 11:27:36
Sell him.

22 Jun 2024 11:42:22
I’d like to keep him.
If he does go to them, get Wilson on a one year deal.

22 Jun 2024 12:05:48
Calvert lewin although not great is miles ahead of anyone we have. As ed says he needs is the right service. A winger or 2 that can put a ball in would be great.

I really hope jack Harrison doesn't come back.

22 Jun 2024 12:30:49
Jack Harrison is coming back.

22 Jun 2024 12:32:28
Get a good price and a good replacement I would let him go, Sean knows what he wants.

22 Jun 2024 11:51:20
The reality is that we haven't got quality players supporting him Ed. We all know the lads strengths. Being good in the air - we don't have players that can cross and find him. His hold-up play - we don't have players that get ahead of him for flick-ons and we don't have players that get in and around him to offer decent support.

I have always thought that he isn't a natural finisher and that is evident by the amount of big chances he misses for us. Some rightly point out his lack of service but the lad still drops a bollock with so many chances that lesser players would score.

It will be incredibly hard for us to replace what he offers us as a whole package, especially given our constraints but if we get some decent money for him to ease the PSR issues, whilst he is in the last year of his contract, I wouldn't get too upset about it.

In reality we have to find somebody to replace 6/ 8 goals a season. There is every chance that he could have another big injury. Finding a player to do that, I don't think would be as hard as some may think.

Solanke, Mateta, Jackson, Wood, Wissa, Cunha, Darwin, Morris, Holjund, Adebayo, Pedro, Muniz, Wilson, Semenyo, Gakpo - all scored more than him. I haven't included the top strikers in that list or any midfielders that outscored him.

{Ed025's Note - i just think he has been playing with one arm tied behind his back BN, yes he is not prolific but i dont think thats the important part of his play mate, he holds up the ball well and given support can bring others in to the game to do that, you cant expect any player to single handedly be the only attacker and score a high volume of goals, if he does go to Newcastle you see what he does with the likes of Isak and Gordon alongside him..

22 Jun 2024 11:58:38
I'd like to keep as agree Ed, he is top level at his best, obviously just the injury concern and contract situation, if doesn't want to sign he has to be sold.

Also yes I'd take Wilson all day long JB. More than capable of seeing us through next couple of seasons.

{Ed025's Note - if he does want to go Mocker then thats fine let him go, but we wont see the best of him unless we play different football than Dyche ball and all the negativity that brings, i happen to like Wilson but if hes left up top on his own mate he will do no better than DCL imo..

22 Jun 2024 12:28:51
I think Ed 25 with year left on contract if he not gone sign we let him go and bring someone else In same with godfrey.

{Ed025's Note - yeah i get that Bretto, but we should not really be in that position mate, its bad management of contracts..

22 Jun 2024 13:04:25
The contract issue is likely the deciding factor here. If he doesn’t fancy extending then we need to recoup a fee now or get nothing in a year. At least then we could look for a replacement.

22 Jun 2024 13:13:20
If DCL is happy and signs contract then yes I'd 100% keep your bang on ed about him and what he actually brings to us as a team, can't argue with needs better service and change of system to allow him to be more of a goalscoring threat.

As we set up now, they ain't many better at Holding it up, but we need the players working off him, which we don't have, I'd like see a tweak in system to allow see us carry more punch upfront Ed but Dyche will stick to what he does best, obviously the incomings and outgoings could sway this.

I also wouldn't want us going for Harrison again, he is a grafter yes but think we could find someone who offers more especially a loan.

I just want to see some pace and movement up top next season, watching England other night was just like watching us at times, frustrating as know we can other more and stands out a mile where problems lay.

{Ed025's Note - yeah Mocker if it was up to me Harrison would be on his bike mate, i think it will take more than a tweak to get us playing attractive football though..

22 Jun 2024 13:29:25
Anyone saying "get rid" of DCL needs their head testing, he's a CF who with the right service is easily a 15 goal a season striker, any money we recieved for him won't even amount to half the money required to but a CF of the same standard.

{Ed002's Note - Dominic Calvert-Lewin (S) The second player tapped up by Steven Gerrard. The summer will be a decision point for the player who will be another the club are willing to sell in order to raise funds to avoid a third charge. Newcastle, Brentford and West Ham offer options with Newcastle pressing to sign him to replace Callum Wilson. Manchester United offer a wildcard option.

Everton are actively working on finding a replacement.}

22 Jun 2024 14:06:37
Well unfortunately we have a tactical clown who doesn't have a clue offensively and DCL will absolutely take off in another side and it'll be gutting but if he stays he will yet again be lucky to get 5 or 6 goals all season. Just feel any lump can achieve the same so cash in and sort out the finances. Hate to say it but someone like that Wood unit would do the task asked by our supreme dinosaur just as efficiently and for 30% of the wages. It is where we are at pathetically.

22 Jun 2024 13:30:48
Depends who goes Ed, as you said previously we do have the nucleus of a decent team. But we have a very slow team ed both in terms of actually pace and speed of moving the ball, especially top ed.

If honest doubt will be much different to last season, again depends on our squad come the start.

Don't want Harrison, not fussed on Onana going, DCL to go if won't commit t and try get a couple of pacy wingers on loan, loads out there, a decent winger and a creative midfielder slotted into what we had last season with a few dead wood out mate and some shrewd free/ minimal fee players, get finances sorted, hope to keep JB (I do think will go mind) and we might actually start to move on as a club ed, onwards and upwards pal. Anyway off for few cheeky sherbets as just done my mornings graft. Enjoy ya afternoon ed and all??.

{Ed025's Note - have a great day Mocker mate..

22 Jun 2024 15:37:12
I'm sad to see him leaving. On his day, unplayable, he's possibly over his injury jinx and Newcastle will benefit with Gordon firing in the crosses. ?.

{Ed025's Note - im with you Tomtom..

22 Jun 2024 15:48:14
Tough one. He’s only one injury from another long layoff. Can we find better? I’m not sure we can. If he doesn’t want to sign an extension, I think we have to sell him. Given how the club have stood by him, you’d hope he’d give us more years but football is no longer about loyalty.

22 Jun 2024 17:33:30
I have always thought he is a decent player, I just don't think he is a good striker. He simply does not have the ability to fashion chances out of nothing, so if we can't make chances for him, it will be a repeat of last year.

My view on letting him go is all purely contextual. The injury worries. The contract issue and him leaving for free. The expensive wages. The fact that we don't play to his strengths.

Like Ed said, we won't see a huge amount of change in style of play, so it looks like it will be another slog.

I would rather us let him go if he doesn't want to stay and then get an instinctive striker in place who can actually strike a ball. People might think I'm having a pop at Dom there but I am really not. The lad cannot strike a football.

22 Jun 2024 21:34:20
I have to say I would love to keep DCL and agree with the right supply he would bang them in
We need a better option playing off him, no offence to Doucs but he’s not a second striker or number 10
But I would love that Minteh pace in the wing!
I think DCL is mad, sign a contract see out the last season at Goodison and play at the new stadium
But then if he goes through the injuries again I will curse myself and wish we took the money.

{Ed025's Note - i think lots of us feel the same ST mate..

23 Jun 2024 09:32:21
Get Adebayo from Luton as a replacement and get Chermiti out on loan if Beto stays.

23 Jun 2024 10:57:26
Has he ever scored from outside the box?
