Norgaard is a no for me. If we want to become a team challenging Arsenal we shouldn't be buying their failed rejects. We should be looking for our own younger talent in our youth team or from Championship or from Europe. not putting release clauses in their contracts and making sure they take us back to better things again.
Look at Newcastle. We ar Billy Big Bollox and gone straight to greatness. now they have lost their best players and their Manager. We need to do our own work and not mop up others rejected thought they would work.
01 Aug 2026 23:27:54
I don't think you can judge a player by comparing the Premier League champions to us. I thought he was a great player at Brentford. Arteta must have seen something in him to sign him.
02 Aug 2026 05:39:51
Challenging Arsenal? We're about £800m away from that, I'm afraid.
02 Aug 2026 07:34:15
It's not the players we buy, it's the coaches we employ that stunts our success.
02 Aug 2026 11:36:21
We are lightyears from challenging Arsenal, sadly.
01 Aug 2026 21:02:15
I would never call people out for having a difference of opinion. After all, Football very much is a game of opinions. Everyone has their own thoughts on what would and wouldn't make a good signing.
For me (and obviously a lot of others) - does the lad improve us, absolutely he does. For those that don't, I think their opinion will quickly change when they have seen what he brings to us on the pitch.
We have lost Gana and are crying out for a DM. Imo, Hackney, Rohl, Tim are not good enough defensively to play there. Jimmy can play there, of course, because he is just such a well-rounded footballer but he is better being allowed a more attacking role and can influence the game to a greater degree.
As some have pointed out, Nørgaard isn't necessarily a destroyer/disruptor that goes hunting for the ball but what he does have, is great positioning, anticipation, reading of the game and defensive intelligence, which allows him to put out fires and stop danger before it develops. He is adept at cutting off passing lanes with interceptions rather than relying purely on tackles and "the dirty work". That being said, he is strong in tackles and aggressive without being reckless (1 red in 129 games) .
Perhaps what will give us the most benefit is his ability to know when to press and when to hold. Too many times does our 6 go hunting and leave gaping holes in behind - the bigger/better teams exploit this quite easily. He provides a great screen for the CB's and let's face it, ours need it. His defensive discipline allows the team to maintain a very good structure/shape and will allow the likes of Jimmy and KDH the licence to go and attack, without the worry of leaving us exposed.
On the ball he rarely gets caught out of position and is a decent passer of the ball. He doesn't over complicate things and doesn't take unnecessary risks. He has the footballing awareness and generally underrated skill to get the ball to the more attacking and technical players as quickly as possible, playing forward when the opportunity presents itself and is decent at switching the play. One thing that probably goes under the radar is his ability in the air and is very useful at defending set-pieces.
He is a former Captain. A vocal organiser and strong voice on the pitch - something which a lot of our players do not do.
I appreciate he is not the most glamourous signing but he is an astute piece of business imo and I for one am very happy to have been surprised by coming on this site this afternoon and reading that he looks to be joining.
01 Aug 2026 23:07:15
Hopefully, he can come in like Gareth Barry did, and just play that screening role in a deep lying midfield. Was he a failed Man City reject? I think anyone coming from in and around the top four first teams probably improves our first eleven in some way.
02 Aug 2026 02:15:50
Garath Barry mk 2.
02 Aug 2026 05:02:05
We need players like him as the foundation. No point having Jimmy & KDH of there is nobody behind them doing the hard graft.
Un-spectacular yes. Vital, also yes.
A lot of people here have no understanding of the groundwork players like him lay down. He will hopefully marshal the midfield & help develop our younger players.

Juanlu off to Bournemouth, there's a club that get things right.
01 Aug 2026 20:36:46
Didn't realise the Club had not even challenged the disgusting Burnley money.
01 Aug 2026 22:30:08
What we be the point? No one at the FA or Prem is looking to help us out.
02 Aug 2026 14:45:42
We have appealed the ruling, but Premier League insist we pay the money now and get it back if we win.
01 Aug 2026 20:22:39
I see Wellbeck has joined Chellsea at 35. I wonder how many fans there are having a gripe.
02 Aug 2026 08:21:56
Quite a lot actually.
01 Aug 2026 19:15:54
Well chuffed with Christian Norgard only £7 million for a defensive midfielder/centre back at 32, bargain brilliant signing well done Everton, let’s get the next one in.
01 Aug 2026 20:35:54
Shrewd signing GB.
01 Aug 2026 19:12:21
Wow complaining about signings before they are in the door, chill out people.
01 Aug 2026 19:21:58
You couldn't make it up, moaning because they're too young then too old, it baffles me, he's a decent player and is definitely an upgrade.
01 Aug 2026 19:28:45
Agree, mate, it's only a few, nothing new.
01 Aug 2026 19:31:56
I agree, 12 months ago, fans were screaming out for us to sign him when Arsenal got him for £15m. What has changed in that time, other than we have got him for less than half the price after a season that would not have taken too much out of him.
Whilst other players may suffer a hangover from an incredibly long season last season. He will be a good signing.
01 Aug 2026 19:41:00
They moan for the sake of moaning mate.
01 Aug 2026 20:34:31
Just want our club to be better. Years of frustration, and we seem to be getting further behind.
01 Aug 2026 20:37:32
Why how do you work that out mate
01 Aug 2026 21:09:31
If we end up further up the table than last year, then I'll stand corrected, but at the moment I'm just not seeing it being any better, mate.
01 Aug 2026 23:47:22
But we ended further up the league last season, but wasn't good enough because we had a chance of Europe, and that was because our squad wasn't good enough and we failed. We are now trying to put that right. 2 players we had last season have now had a season in the prem with us, and I see signs of them being able to help the team, plus the additions we've already made or are making, we will be stronger to get where we want to be.
Little gems don't just farrow on trees, we've just bought the best rated player in the Championship and a solid midfielder, fingers crossed we get a right back and striker in next with a couple of good loans. This could still be a very good window for us, remember we have no European football to offer so we aren't at the elite table.
01 Aug 2026 19:03:09
Leeds fans coldnt wait to get rid of Angus and his cronies so they all headed to the north west and Everton FC the way they have gone about transfer buisness is like a corner shop versus Sainsburys or Asda its a disgrace but hey the Americans brought them in can't blame Moshiri or Kenwright for this s*** show.
01 Aug 2026 19:23:11
What s*** show, I don't see anything wrong with any of the signing so far, not saying we don't need more, but every player is where we are as a club.
01 Aug 2026 19:35:26
Great deal, mate, defensive midfielder and centre back very useful, bring em on.
01 Aug 2026 19:47:58
Apart from Barry and Dibling, I thought our signings last year were alright. Grealish, KDH, Aznou, Rohl and George all seem decent players and better than what we had. Also resigned Keane and Gana, which were good deals at the time. Plus we offloaded a load of dead wood.
The lack of RB was worrying as it's been so obvious for years. Sticking with Coleman was a mistake.
The lack of a decent striker screwed us, and the choice of Barry was odd given his first touch, hold up play and finishing are all atrocious.
Hackney looks alright and if Norgaard is half decent then 7 out of 9 isn't the worst return. We have bought some real dross over the years. No one gets it all right all the time.
Maybe the win has got me looking through blue tinted glasses.
01 Aug 2026 20:35:05
Now I know there's a few on here that moan, however I'm beginning to think someone on hear is a red trying to stir up discord. There seems to be constant negative references to every positive thing that happens and I'm smelling a red or someone that really isn't a toffee and if they feel that negatively about the club them maybe Everton aren't for you.
You know who you are!
01 Aug 2026 20:48:20
I was thinking the same, Big C.
01 Aug 2026 21:25:01
Well it defo isn't me, I've been a blue for 45 years.
02 Aug 2026 08:50:12
Not you dev, you're blue through and through. 😃
01 Aug 2026 18:12:05
I do believe I said it would be a win for us 2-1.
I will wait for the moaners to tell us everything we were bad at.
01 Aug 2026 19:24:07
Well done, mate, that was a good win for us today, we played well.
01 Aug 2026 19:49:28
We weren't great for a lot of what I saw, Pasty. We were fortunate to win, to be honest. Looked much better after the subs were made in the second half.
Rohl really impressed me with his energy. Could have played a further 90 mins at the final whistle.
01 Aug 2026 20:59:00
I agree, we were sloppy with the ball, final balls weren't great, but we also did have some good play. Rohl, KDH, Hackney, even Barry did more good than bad for a change. Think Tarks wasn't great and would rather see Obrien next to Braithweight, definitely more pace.
The young lad Azoni, think that's how you spell it, showed so much more than Myko and has to be given the chance over him going forward, but at least they showed some battling today, a lot better than Stoke for sure.
02 Aug 2026 17:00:22
Certainly, Stoke was not enjoyable viewing and we attacked more against Hamburg. Myko needs dropping, as he offers little going forward and often makes mistakes in defence.
{Ed025's Note - hes pretty poor BR but i think we should concentrate on getting a right back and a forward first mate..
01 Aug 2026 17:45:28
How much lower can Moyes make us sink £7 million for a 32 year old they signed on a free last season can't take much more of this s****.
01 Aug 2026 17:56:38
7m is nothing these days, though, is it? He's a decent player who will fill a gap in midfield. Any excuse to have a pop!
01 Aug 2026 18:03:50
7 million for a good squad player, mate. We do need numbers and he's not too shabby.
01 Aug 2026 18:07:31
People have no clue and just like to moan, he's a great player and for 7 million what's not to like, oh hang on, you're waiting for us to buy all these 100 million pound players with money we don't have, get a grip, we are Everton with nothing to offer.
01 Aug 2026 18:42:38
Why though. Because of piss poor management. We should never be behind teams like Bournemouth and Brighton, yet here we are, miles off due to s*** management and recruitment, and this new recruitment team needs to look further afield than Europe, even that looks like a push. Crap.
01 Aug 2026 18:43:30
Arsenal paid £15 million for him. He wasn't on a free. Good squad player for that money, imo.
01 Aug 2026 19:36:43
Bad language won't help your moaning, mate.
01 Aug 2026 21:05:02
Give up.
