Morning all fellow Blue Noses and Ed's.

I've been reading the comments on this site for a while now regarding our plight and Roberto Martinez and feel I must air my own views.

Everton are a massive club with history and in my opinion are in a false position within the Premier League. We have some very big names playing for us on some very big wages so, being asked to adopt a new style of football should not be a problem to a professional footballer. I'm sure all of you out there have worked for several bosses who's way of getting the job done are different but the end result is the same. English football is and always has been Predominantly rough contact pass and move forward, anticipating the long ball (route one.) Suddenly we're asked to play Catalan style which in itself is the same but with more flair, skill and ball control with confidence which the English have always lacked. Skill and confidence. Last season it worked as it was something new, this year it's old hat as we do not have the confidence to multi-task. Defend, possess and attack.
Roberto Martinez's problem, again in my opinion is, this is his tried and tested style which will and does work (Swansea) but needs adaptation to change. (Wigan) Remember British Leyland (later Rover.) They had the foresight to change the name to create a feel of modernisation but never changed the basics of to compete with quality Japanese and European markets. In other words, arrogance. The British Car Market had a captive audience and had no plan "B" when things got competitive. Other Car manufacturers could see the openings in Britain and took the Country's car makers by surprise. Unfortunately the workers and the rest of the British people could also see this coming but as usual, the Managers and Board were not listening. Roberto has the same sort of arrogance, he seems to be not listening to 40,000 Scousers week in and week out along with all other Evertonians and non Evertonians for that matter that this style of Football does work but is easily supressed and needs to be adaptive and changeable with a more pro-active, positive approach.
I do somewhat agree with some postings on here that, we only need to gain 15 points to survive the season but that seems to be falling in to same trap as Roberto's. Negativity.
Everton fans need to be positive, I realise this season so far is not very inspiring but with the last 2 games things seem to have changed a little. Maybe Roberto has been listening (although slightly) as the system has been different and a little more positive. Confidence and positivity will not come back overnight as this takes time but this looks like a start.
To take things forward to the next stage, (hope Roberto is reading this or at least listening) he needs to adapt the team/squad. Aiden McGeady, Gareth Barry, Silvan Distin, Darron Gibson must be taken out of the scenario and the likes of Luke Garbutt and other up-and-coming starlets should be introduced to create the flair and imagination he's looking for. The Board also need to do their bit by tying down the likes of Mirallas and Co to long term contracts. This club needs to be taken forward and needs everybody concerned to do their part to create this feeling of positivity we are all so craving for. It's there, it never went away, it was left to it's own devices with no imagination. Without good strong leadership the club will go nowhere and stay stagnant.
Everton will not be relegated this season. Fact. Everton will be relegated next season, fact if nothing is done, and soon. Guidance, the ability to adapt and positivity in boat loads is what we need and the Chairman to give the Manager the funds to create this positivity.
Just my opinion. Your thoughts!?

I agree with a lot of your post, and believe Everton is a massive club, in terms of history, fan base and its standing in the top level of English football, however without a massive investment this club will remain tantalisingly close but will never really threaten the top clubs! we have over the last few years achieved miracles with so little financial clout, even the likes of arse and spuds with more money struggle to break the top three.
Fact is that you can overachieve for so long but this season what has become apparent is at time a real lack of quality from a large number of players when the manager has asked for it. However it is also his job to coach and manage them, and to bring out the best in them, then if they are still not good enough then to replace them, which is becoming all to obvious now.

My take is, stating Fact every other sentence does not make it so without evidence to back it up. Fact - Yes we can be relegated this season - evidence - league position, accumulated points, Roberto's comments on defense not important as long as the Team enjoys it's football (this is not Sunday morning league Roberto, with a visit to the pub to look forward to).

Totally agree DM, facts will only be facts when the season ends.

Also it does not matter how positive we think it will not change anything, only dealing with the problems head on can change them, blind positive spin is what has got us into this mess in the first place.
