Here's a thought out of left field for a possible replacement for RM: Sean Dyche currently at Burnley.
With (hopefully - although this season that is debatable!) better players at Everton he might do better than is realistically possible for him on Burnley's comparatively limited resources. Unlike RM, whose tactics eventually took Wigan down (and are threateningly looking like doing the same at Everton!), Sean Dyche doesn't strike me as such an unpragmatic dreamer.
Other names don't appeal to me. Hoddle ultimately failed at Tottenham and at Wolves. He'd most likely turn out to be tactically like Martinez (possession, pass, pass, sideways, backwards), but without the Spanish accent. Hoddle is also a three-at-the-back advocate, which is surely questionable for our current defenders.
Foreign managers wouldn't have the Premier League (let alone any kind of British football) nitty-gritty experience that I believe is critical for a club like ours imho - and we wouldn't have the money to fund the players they'd want to bring in anyway - so it should be a British (or Irish) manager. We appointed HK and DM from lower-tier managerial positions - and they did OK (didn't they?) - while Sean Dyche would have already had some Premier League managerial experience having served a good "apprenticeship" learning his trade lower down the leagues (just like HK and DM did).
Just as well I'm not running the club if I'm thinking like this, eh?
Anyway it's all academic, as BK is clearly sticking by RM to the bitter end - even if that's an end to our sixty seasons of top-tier football.

{Ed025's Note - i have never really considered dyche sid, i do like him, but would he have the experience to keep us up?..im not sure..

Ed025: The only one I'd trust to keep any club up is Tony Pulis. Having said that, Pulis is elsewhere, so I'm confident that Sean Dyche would do a good a job at a club with (all due respect) more resources than Burnley. How ironic if he keeps Burnley up - albeit by the skin of their teeth - and RM brings an end to Everton's sixty seasons of top-tier football.

{Ed025's Note -i cant even think about that sid..

Sorry Sid but we need a manager who can attract big name players, doubt this guy could do that. Though to be fair I would rather be a better version of Burnley than Wigan mate.

Woburnblue

Woburnblue: Attracting big name players surely requires Champions League football, which we're nowhere near at the moment, AND paying big wages, which we couldn't do on our budget under FFP rules. Besides, why would a player (or his wife/family) want to come to us ahead of a club in London (or even Manchester come to that). We, as fans, would love to play for Everton, but for most players (who have no emotional ties to Everton) it's just a matter of medals, money, and location.

I would have alan stubs.

Daz efc: Alan Stubbs is an interesting shout, but wouldn't we want to see him have a little more time getting head-coach experience in Scotland before he manages in the Premier League? That's if we're still in the Premier League cone next season of course!
:-(

I think stubbs is the man, I don't know what he did but every time he has left the club are performances have dropped.
