Right so Rooney rejoins Everton and people keep using the term "fan pleaser" but I'm 99.9% certain that this one doesn't please me. I'm looking at this objectively and I can see this going badly!

He's won loads of trophies, he's a worldwide family household name, it's a bit of a love story, he's a role model for youngsters and he will work his nuts off for the team. Completely agree.

He's getting old, he costs a fortune in wages, he broke every single Everton heart and do you want a role model to be someone who rubbish on us? Someone who sets an example like that? He might try his best for the team but how good is his best.

I don't even think he will get in the squad. Silly move bringing him back.

Of course he will score goals and I will celebrate them as the rest of you do but I just don't think I want him in an Everton shirt again. He hasn't earned the right. He needs to come out with a statement that's heartfelt and I need to see and feel how much he wants this move to even start to justify this move!

{Ed025's Note - i have said before jonesy..hes marmite..some love him and some dont but im leaving my judgement until he actually wears the shirt mate..

Agree0 Disagree1

If we were just getting Rooney I would be gutted because he is not good enough for a team with top four aspirations.

However, with Giroud and Sandro plus Klaasan and Barkley/ Sig he'll make a nice addition to the bench and to get a bit of publicity.

He'll get plenty of cup games under his belt and games against Huddersfield and such but he is not going to light up the place like the others we have signed.

Anyone thinking we are getting a top class player is living in dream land.

For all the trophies he has won, one trophy that eludes him is one for Everton, rest assured he will be busting a gut to rectify it.

A lot of people thought Gareth Barry was washed up when he signed for Everton, Rooney has got a few years on him, Paul Power and Richard Gough, there's still life in the guy yet.

Totally different position. He's not being brought in to sit in the middle or the back.

No he's bought to be advanced forward so with Gaye, Schneiderin, Davies, Klassen etc in the middle, he will be higher up the pitch with less ground to cover than his younger days when coming from midfield to attack.

he has been dropped by Man U. Dropped by England. He is 31 going on 42. Are we getting other teams cast offs or are we setting the new tone in getting the prime cuts now. It's a no from me!

Baz we don't accept that kind of performance from Barkley and we wouldn't expect it from Rooney. Ron doesn't accept stationary players.

I'm not saying he doesn't bring anything to the squad I'm just not blind to the player he is now and for the past two years.

It is not the Rooney of the past.
