Could anyone shed some light on the situation regarding this takeover and how, if 777 need to secure a loan to buy the club, they could pass the Premier League's owners and directors tests? Surely if they don't have the funds and have to look at other means like loans to gather the funds then they aren't fit enough to keep a club afloat. I understand the PL want the funds putting into an account for this season but what would happen next season, or the one after, wouldn't we just be riddled with more debt and loans against us if that's how they operate?

It really is time for the premium league to say yes or no to the 777 proposal.
My personal preference, is that I don't want these cowboys any where near our club, I do appreciate, that in the short term this could create difficulty, but afder what we have just been through with F/ M, swapping him for 777, would be out of the frying pan and into the fire, surely their track record at the clubs they have been involved with, should make this a no brainer .

Right that's me done for a couple of months now. No more reading the crap the rags print, no more news now bollocks.
I'm off to Barbados to recuperate after what's been another stressful season.
Thanks Ed's for putting up with us, it will be the same again next season no doubt.
Happy Holidays everyone. UTFT!

I honestly can't see 777 officially owning our club. If it was going to happen then I think it would've already.

Our debt wouldn't put off an oil rich country and the positives far outweigh the negatives. Premier league membership, new stadium and best fans will surely make us an attractive proposition.

Get Tim Cahill as the public face of the take over and I think we'd all be happy blues this summer.

It will end up being a 777 and MSP board by the end of May, it's the only option currently as there are no other options on the table.

MSP I would take now. I just don't know why Moshiri thought 777 were a best option.

Was listening to a podcast on the Blue Room today where they were discussing at length about our financial issues. Well worth a listen.
Anyway a question was asked about when Moshiri decided to pull the money and they felt it was around Ancelotti's time.
It got me thinking about the managers/ coaches we've had and who caused this issue. I know money is/ was a problem and we don't know the half of what was going on but it was the employment of Benitez when I felt it all started to crumble. He got rid of half our decent players, a lot of the backroom staff and our Director of football left. For me he is the major cause of the on field issues. What's everyone else's thoughts?

I think it was Koeman when it all started to go down hill. The biggest mistake was selling Lukaku and not replacing him. All I can really remember of his signings was £50m for siggurdson £25m klassen and rooney. Not sure if he bought bolassie schnederlin keane Ramirez as well.
Regarding Benitez I think his hands were tied financially and he had to get rid of all the players otherwise we wouldve been in more crap and only signings I remember were mykelenko and Patterson after digne was sold. I think he was given a situation like sean dyche regarding finances just that we didn't know about it or want to believe it and us fans knew even less about FFP back then compared to the nothing we understand about it know.
Just my opinion going off what I remember which I'm sure I've forgotten some other key facts.

We massively overspent on fees and wages from the time Koeman arrived, a scatter gun approach on whoever was available which created an unbalanced squad. Under Ancellotti, players like Rodriguez and Allan crippled our wage bill. We’ve never recovered. The opportunity was there to build a squad that could compete at the top end of the stadium, you’d have to say that recruitment has been woeful.

Started to go wrong once the banners came out, get rid of Martinez. Basically (and we are all guilty of this) , dollar signs were seen and impatience was the theme. It took about 3/ 4 years for City to get going and their vault was never ending.

I totally agree with that DFS. Martinez was ok for me. Just needed defensive help.

Short memories! Martinet deserved to go, we were shocking in his last season. If anything got him the sack it was his refusal to practice set pieces, his ineptitude at organising a defence and he is the man who bought Kone and Alvarez.
Those two signings could well be the reason FM wanted to go down the DoF route rather than trust a manager to buy his own players!

02 May 2024 16:17:15
BP but we were not going down! It was impatience and dollar signs in our eyes. Friends and neighbours like Moshiri listened to instead of football men were the other reason.

{Ed025's Note - very much so DFS..

All I'm saying mate is that we were on a downwards trajectory under RM and I don't think he had it in him to arrest the slide. He had a great season with Wigan in the prem but they soon went the other way. His problem, like a lot of managers since (including our current manager) was that he was too stubborn to change. Nice fella but, imo, he's more suited to international football than he is club management.
At the time it was the right decision and you could make a case against any of the others too. The sackings were right for the most part, it was the new appointments that FM and Co never got right.

When F/M Bought into Everton, we were told he was a billionaire. So now he has decided to get out, why the need to borrow 200m from 777, surely he is able to return their money, and get it back from a new buyer (which we're told they're are forming a queue).

Unless he never had the cash in the first place, and was just a fount for his Russian friend, bloody inconsiderate of Putin to go and start a war just when we were getting back on our feet.

Agree1 0Disagree

01 May 2024 17:39:05
Just because he’s a billionaire doesn’t necessarily mean he has lots of cash - he could be a billionaire due to assets he has.

{Ed025's Note - i suspect it was Usmanov money all along Dan..

Spot on Ed. And aren't 777 billionaire's in assets aswell All I can see off the pitch is more DOOM AND GLOOM. But I do hope I'm wrong. COYB'S.

{Ed025's Note - its always something with us RON, we beat the cheats who stole our points, then against all odds we staved off relegation with a thread bare squad, then the worry of if the ground would be finished...now its possible administration!, is there any more crap they can fling at us mate?...its a good job we are EVERTON, COYB, UTFT..

It is no secret to any of us that we have to sell our assets this summer, most likely, Onana and Jared. But we also have a Mr Jordan Pickford on the books.

Through all his own doing, he has built a reputation over the years for being a bit of a loose cannon with his decision making and having a howler in him. However, I think these are characteristics of his past and in the last 2-3 seasons now, I can't think of many mistakes that he has made. His level of consistency has gone up and so has his maturity. He has almost single-handily kept this club in the PL more than once.

The lad is sitting 2 clean sheets off the golden glove and is comfortably England's no.1, where he has barely put a foot wrong in the major tournaments. He has just shy of 300 PL appearances to his name and 60 for his country.

Taking the above into account and the fact we paid £25 million for him back in 2017, I think it takes the absolute proverbial that he is priced constantly at around 30m.

Arsenal paid £24 million for Ramsdale, after back to back relegations a few years back. Onana cost United over £40 million. Granted the lad played in a Champions League final but Pickford has played in just as big a game in the Euro's/ World Cup and has clearly out-performed him in the league this season.

If we are 'forced' to let Jordan go this summer, we should be asking for top dollar and nothing less. It is time we start acting in the same way that other clubs do when teams start coming for their players.

I agree that he is worth more than what has been quoted but the transfer market is a different animal since both us and Forest were docked points. In January, no team wanted to spend for fear of reprisals if they sailed too close to the ffp wind. I think clubs will be watching what they spend over the next few windows which could even see transfer fees dropping considerably.
We are also ripe for the vultures to swoop in, all knowing we need the cash quickly. It's a mess but, on the bright side, it's only upwards from here.

The var discussions, OK the first 1 I don't think is, the handball is one that could be given, depending on opinions, but the 3rd. 😂. OK I know it worked in our favour but wtf are they seeing that most fans can't! We dodged a bullet but, I'd rather these things be correct. If only so we don't receive a dodgy decision!

02 May 2024 10:48:11
Many have gone against us and many others have suffered the same fate. VAR has strayed from its' original intention. The Premier League and its' 'improvements' has also deteriorated the product.
