So Martinez said yesterday that there be no big signing this year like there was with lukaku, but he still wings 1/2 more players but for the right money as he think we're strong enough I hope he having a laugh because are defence is short of centre bk an right bk cover

Lets hope its just him blagging the press, we all know in order to progress we must strengthen and get better each season to stay in touch with or overtake the clubs ahead of us! We should be spending in excess of £35m this summer on quality players, it would be arrogant o think we are good enough with the squad we have to get a European place!

Do we really need a big name signing at present. IMO we only actually need players to cover for injuries. We have a set of youngsters that could develop into very good players but unless they get game time they won't develop at all. IMO the youngsters are key if they get a decent amount of game time we may see a side starting to develop that would form the spine for year to come. We could then look to the marquee signings for that extra push.
My preference for this season would be to predominately strengthen with loans and keep the cash. Maybe at a push get an experienced CB who would be happy to push Jags and Stones for a place but not necessarily be looking at guaranteed a starting place.
I still think we can push for a top 5 finish with the squad we have but top 4 is unrealistic. I also don't think we have the quality to get there just by adding 1 or 2 more signings.
Without the distraction of Europa we will have a much better chance of progressing in a cup comp which is what I would really like to see.
Don't get me wrong I know we really do need to replace at least half a dozen players but I don't think we can afford to do it in one hit, as the money we would get for them wouldn't pay for the same quality of player in most cases.
Lets hope we get a good start to the season as when we are confident we are a pretty good team and hard to play against.

I'll be happy to keep some cash back to replace Martinez in case go things don't improve. If they do improve then give him more cash in January.

stupid wages, barely played and it is a wonder he lasted so long at Barca as he is dodgy. But to be fair they have a habit of buying/keeping players not good enough for that level. Look at Vermaelan.

one or two players last year a couple this year maybe one in jan, that's half a new team if they are of the right quality we can challenge, if we keep signing average player's to bolster the squad numbers we will win F All!

I don't know why everybody puts such stock in what Martinez says, he said Fellaini was was in his plan he left, he said there was little chance of del returning he signed, he's a blagger and a good one at that, so stop worrying people because he's not stupid he knows exactly what we need.
