Can anyone else see Everton doing an Everton and waiting until the season has started before we sign our players and then have to wait about 10 games before they have bedded in? On a serious note has Witsel decided which club he is going to? I've read more major twists about his transfer than I have in a Game Of Thrones book. For me personally I think we need a goalie, proven quality CB and a Striker to help out Rom. All we seem to be linked with is Centre mids.

This is easy to explain and a number of people including Eds have already explained this, as follows:

New manager in place recently, most of the players were on a break so he could not work with anyone until 2 weeks ago, he needed to see them in action for himself to ascertain what he actually wants, we all know they never played to their max under Roberto so Koeman needed to see how they reacted under his training regime, now that he has just come back from a week away he will have an idea who he actually needs, ignore all the rumours about who we are supposedly in for as we never divulge info, we may have never even been in for Wixsel in the first place, just paper talk, this will be the week when things start to happen both in and out, patience comes to those who wait and we have waited a while so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Because players want to sign for those already in Europe. not wait a season or 2.

Personal opinion only but the root of a lot of our problems is our CEO (ex? ) and yet he still managed to wangle a seat on the board.

With the Euros, a new manager and holidays for players it will not be quick in getting players.

I've said this before but for me the most important thing for Everton was the new manager. We already have a very good team but it lacked direction, routine and development.

Koeman likes to take his time in purchasing players and even at Southampton when they sold half his team he didn't panick buy.

You can only put out 11 players and we've had so called poor players in the past but with good management have had success.

People say its just like Everton this but if you asked 99% of clubs around the world would you like to be in our position every one would say yes.

Teams like Villa and Newcastle are teams run badly. Not ours.

Patience blues. It will all come good.

I agree that we're not yet at panic stations, but the 'still assessing what we've got' line is beginning to wear thin. There are, after all, a fair few teams who have new managers this year, all of whom have been active in the transfer market.

Also, whilst it's true that Ronnie has a track record of getting players late in the window, these normally follow a few very early signings.

We all know that there are deficiencies in the team that need to be addressed and time is definitely running out to create a settled and solid team - let's not forget that there's still a sizable chance that we'll lose Stones and/ or Lukaku.

I really am trying to remain calm (I know it might not sound it from this post) but have to admit that I've lost a lot of the optimism of a few weeks back.

There have been about 15 signings costing more than £10m in the premier league so far this transfer window. The eds have said we are working on deals for players and i've no doubt we will make signings that improve our squad before the window shuts.
