Just read a piece in the Guardian that has Sam admitting he can't play Rooney and Siggy at the same time as despite their skills they both lack enough mobility. And he also feels Siggy should be playing in his favoured position not stuck out on the wing. At last the penny has dropped. Now all he needs is to have the same insight into the glaringly obvious defensive shambles and we may start improving. Here's hoping anyway.

What can he do about the defensive shambles? Sign a left back? Sign a new center back? I am neither an Allergy lover nor hater. but the guy has been here a few weeks. he saw us pick up some points against weaker teams and then watched us struggle with a tough fixture list. but with the same group of players that Koeman had. He had injuries to Coleman, Baines, McCarthy, Mori and Barkley. He has since seen Barkley go. Brought in Wallcott and Tosun and it looks like Lennon is off. He is playing 2 kids in defence who have performed as well as anyone could have expected. and yes after a few games has decided that Rooney and Sig cannot play together. He has taken us from bottom 3 to top half (although we are very close still to the relegation spots) . I suggest we just let the man do his job and sort out the horrific mess of our football club. And if you don't think we are in a mess, re-read all of what I have written again in other posts. ie about lack of pace/ creativity. but most of all. goalscorers in our squad. For 4 years we have had what seems like a policy of buying players (Lukaku aside) who do not score goals. and when at last the numbers catch up with us and we don't even have a shot on target for 4/ 5 weeks everyone blames the current manager. He is a human being not Jesus Christ you know. If you are looking for blame. it is the last 2 managers. The first one for an over-reliance on our top goalscorer (Lukaku) and the second manager for losing the support of Barkley and an absolute dreadful transfer window. We did not just become bad overnight. this is 4 years of planning!

I humbly suggest you take a chill pill Degsy and actually read what's written before going on a rant. Was I saying everything that's wrong with the club is Sam's fault? No I wasn't. Did I say the kids hadn't performed admirably under the circumstances? No I didn't. And where you get the idea that I don't think we're in a mess from is amazing. All I said was according to a report he's finally noticed something that was obviously wrong and he plans to do something about it.

Fancy supporting a club where you can't say what you think about what you see and how you think it could be made better. What would be the point in that?

OK BigH78, I am sorry. I just see so many posters who thought everything was rosey before he came and that his team selections are the reason of us being so bad. and I thought that was what you were implying. my apologies to you. and a short explanation. about 4 years ago I started to post that Martinez was signing many players who did not score many goals in relation to their positions. ie a Center back might get 4 or 5 goals a season and that would be considered good. The team that Martinez inherited had goals from most players in most positions and we were at first a delight to watch. Lukaku was signed and I believed that was the best signing in ages. but then he started signing players who had just never scored many goals for their relevant positions. I won't list them all but go though and have a look at the players he signed. Ok Eto'o also scored but he got rid pretty quick. This continued throughout with players like McCarthy, Barry, Besic, Cleverly, Gueye, Lennon etc. none of whom have ever been prolific and indeed some have only scored 1 or 2 in their careers. This "policy" saw lots of good goalscorers leave the club and go on to score for other clubs. eg Arteta, Fellaini, Stones, Naismith, Jelavic and Mirallas. Others like Pienaar and Osman retired and indeed we now need to replace Baines and soon Coleman. Our transfer policy has been a shambles and was highlighted to me in the last window when we never signed a forward and a left back was so obviously a priority. yet as we all know about 5 number 10's. I had thought you were blaming Sam A so apologies to you my friend. Will mention Niasse who without we would be in big sh**. May not be the best in the world but neither was Marcus Bent who worked his socks off and we got into the Champions League with him in the team.

Don’t be offended by Degsy BigH, I’m sure that’s not what he intended to do. He enjoys reminding us all of his posts from Previous years and how he was right about us not replacing goalscorers like Osman and Pienaar. But his posts are usually spot on when they’re not ‘I told you so. ’.

No offense taken Joe. I can see Degsy's point. He simply misunderstood what I was getting at. Regardless of differing opinions we all have the clubs best interest at heart COYB.

Excellent post degsy.

I'll post more of this the next time degsy pops his head up with these ridiculous non facts. But pienAar averaged 2.6 goals per season, osman the same, graveson 2, and so on and so on. The only one that got over 4 was Mirrallas who averaged 6.

The players Martinez signed or developed scored more goals and got more assists than any in any season with Moyes and his players.

Feeling a little unmanly with this love fest. ;-)
