I know injuries have played a part but- Are Liverpool's youngsters much much better than ours or do they simply have a manager who gives them confidence to play?

Good Q, BB, one that I answer through gritted teeth also. I think it’s a bit of both. Having watched the younger teams at those levels we have always been just beneath them in recent years, when we won the PL2, I said at the time that whist we had won it the proof in the pudding will be which players kick on into the 1st team and that hasn’t been too many. Branthwaite and Neils and Godfrey are kids we have bought and have been given some exposure to the 1st team ahead of kids we have developed ourselves who have been allowed to leave. (Including the Captain of the P2 win) . In terms of confidence whilst playing for CA should be all a player needs given his knowledge about football on face value again YK seems to have also mastered this art too and as an outsider looking in I know which of the x2 i would walk through a wall for, but that’s only on face value.

Its an interesting eh

Carlo is clearly a brilliant manager, his record is among the best and I'm very glad we have him. But is he a manager that historically gives youth a chance? I don't know the answer to that.

Its just we all see many senior pros fall short and wish to see young hungry talented players, but are they simply not good enough? When they get an occasional chance are they confident to perform?

Like you say Blue, through gritted teeth iverpool's youngster's seem to flourish when in the 1st team under klopp.

This is what I don’t get. Them over the road play youngsters without any fear even though they ate going for every cup going. We on the other hand are usually playing for nothing, and yet we don’t give our young players a chance. So how will we ever know if their good enough or not. Let’s face it they couldn’t do any worse results wise than the current lot out there.
Remember DCL when he first came into the team. And is Kenny really that bad? Who knows unless the lad gets a run of games. And can someone please tell me just what has Gordon done wrong to be overlooked again and again.
Young players won’t develop unless you give them a chance. It’s about bloody time we did that. We really have nothing to lose.

I think the big difference between us and Liverpool is the fact that their match day team can support youngsters. We probably have as good as if not better youngsters than Liverpool however we haven’t got a team that can actually support them being involved - our players are struggling themselves not sure what support they’d give the youngsters and would probably do more harm than good.

We prefer to spend lots of money on older players who were once good, or average players who were never really any good.

Well if there not good enough to support our youngsters then perhaps they shouldn't be playing. Why would you play any player if he was struggling?
I remember Man U bringing in young players from there reserve team, players who nobody had ever heard of at the time. Those players went on to form a dynasty at that club. They didn't need anyone to hold there hand. They were confident young men and they knew how to play.
It's about time we tested our young players, and personally I wouldn't want the likes of Siggy or the like getting in there way.
