I heard a rumour that kev mirallas wanted to take the penalty to score as a dedication to the wolfsburg player and his mate; malanda who died in the car accident. If true I understand why he wanted to. But still think it was against team orders. His head went because he missed; hence subbed. Sorry not know how reliable this is; but we still did not win

Sounds true imo Zulu. I actually had a feeling that it was the case when he stepped up to take it. But at the end of the day, a peno is different to free kicks and open play, as it needs a cool head and cooler finish.

Yes he's lost a friend, and yes he wants to show respect, but there are other ways of doing it. And Football is a business where wins count for anything. He needed to leave it to bainsey, and keep his emotions in tact.

I do feel sorry for Kev, but he's gone and shot himself in the foot. Reckon he will be off in this window or the next.

{Ed025's Note - im with you QB..

Was he not lukaku's friend as well, but, I never seen him do anything rash in honour of his mate who sadly died

Lukaku honoured his friend during west ham game. Why didn't mirallas do the same when he scored.

Can't buy in to this as an excuse for him. He scored a great free kick against the Hammers so that should have been his show of respect. Rom did it in that game when he scored. Kev was just being selfish against the baggies and the fact he was subbed at h/t has given him time to come up with something in an attempt to keep the fans off his back. Shameless
