Does anyone know if we will get a fee for garbutt for training cost?

{Ed001's Note - yes, you get a fee, plus 5% of future sales.}

Agree0 Disagree0

any idea where he is going ed?

{Ed002's Note - The Ed is not implying he is off.}

I wonder who it is he is joining. He definitely has another club he is going to. There is no way a 19 yr old runs his contract down like this to look at his options.

Oveido and Galloway will provide good cover but Galloway seems to be the better option to keep over Garbutt anyway. He can play in more than one position and is a different type of player whereas, Garbutt and Baines are almost identical in style.

It would also mean Oveido will get more opportunities and boy does he deserve it.

Cheers Ed (was worried about another Gosling as we signed him from leeds)

{Ed013's Note - Gosling wasn't from Leeds mate?}

Garbutt is a cracking young player, with a great left foot. Just seems ridiculous that we would consider letting him go. To say Galloway would be a better bet is naive based on one game. Surely we should be fighting to keep all our talented young players.

Woburn is right, 1 game (with only pride to play for + end of season etc.) could mean nothing in the long term.

So far so good yes , however you cannot gamble with if's and maybe's!

Why does everyone say can't believe we are letting Garbutt go. He is a human being that we can't force to stay against his will. He has obviously decided to leave rather than us let him go.
So essentially good riddance not interested in players who don't want to play for us

Me saying Galloway is a better bet was not based on one game. My suggestion was based on the fact he can play in more than one position and is a different type of player to Garbutt. Whereas Oviedo and Garbutt are similar to Baines. With a small squad quality options are essential.

As for us letting him go, I don't think we have any decision in this at all. He is the one not signing the contract. What more can we do?

Err offer him a decent contract maybe?

20 May 2015 09:46:15
He's a guy that's played 10 games with his last stint as substitute showing that he has a long, long way to go defensively.

Anyway, are you in the know of what was offered to him? It doesn't look like it is anything to do with money and more about wanting game time. At Everton he doesn't deserve to be playing ahead of an English international and one of the best left backs in the EPL.
