Swan, think we'll just have to agree to disagree bout earlier comments. I don't like people putting Moyes down even though as I said myself he let himself and Everton down by some of his actions and some of the things he said after leaving Everton.

I disagree that he will go down as one of United's worst managers. Have you seen them since he left? Spent how many 100millions and are tham all better. You can be sure if Moyes spent that much they would be in better shape. I think Moyes will go down as one of Evertons best managers. I can't think of a manager that done so much to keep Everton away from relegation. That's the point really. Martinez inherited a very decent side because of Moyes. Martinez even admitted that himself.

I certainly think there is more of a chance Everton would get relegated under Martinez than with Moyes. We'll never know if anyone else could of done a better job than Moyes? That's because there isn't! Everton would never be relegated under Moyes. Came close yes but that goes back to what I said earlier that's the situation Moyes inherited when he came to Everton. Also nearly never done it 😊 Pitty the same can't be said for Martinez. The squad he left Wigan with is where now? I'm not knocking Martinez just stating facts.

Martinez will have to get Everton into chapions league regularly to improve on what Moyes done. No one will be happier than me if Martinez does the that.

He spent £9.5million on a defender today. 4th highest fee in Everton history

Stop comparing Everton with Wigan please! Wigan are a small club in existence since the 70's it's incredible that they made it into the Premier League never mind stayed there for so long. So using that as a way of supporting an argument against Martinez is just absolute nonsense!

Apart from that I agree with everything you said about Moyes!

I'm not a fan of Martinez and never wanted him as manager but what I would say is that the two managers had a different outlook about our club.

Moyes as you state was about avoiding relegation and getting over the 40 point mark whereas Martinez is about getting to top 4. In thought at least.

Moyes will never do extraordinary as a manager because he is and was too safe. The best managers take big risks and always think about winning.

Ste Naismith said as much about Moyes when he was manager that he had never been at a club that focused on not getting beat rather than thinking about the win.

So for me Moyes was perfect when we needed a manager to help us stay in the league but a Martinez type manager will help us get into the top 4 and challenge for honours. Although, I don't think Martinez is the answer.

To be fair both are good managers but in my opinion not great managers. I think the downfall for both is tactics one too negative the other too continental and slow.

This season we will see if Martinez can adapt his and will be his third season and final season if he can't. Moyes never adapted his in 10 years.

aflm 78 I'm not using it as an excuse to put Martinez down. I never really put him down. Simply stating when he was a manager of a club ( could be any club just happens to be Wigan) they were relegated under his management. Stating that as a fact and that Moyes never got Everton relegated, another fact. Talking about managers track records not clubs.

I'm giving Martinez one more season to deliver on his champions league promise then will be calling for his head, but in my eyes he has taken us from a top 4th or 5th club to a mid table team.

for the £ Martinez has spend I except more, his scouting network is no where near the level it was under moyes and our best players are always linked with moves away from the club

BlueJohnUns I agree a lot with what you say. Both are different managers. I like the way you say Moyes was perfect for the job he done and then say he wasn't a great manager! In my eyes any manager who done or does what Moyes done is a great manager.

You say Moyes was about getting 40 points and Martinez is about getting us into champions league? Are you having a laugh? Your missing one vital point only one of the two got Everton into the champions league. Yes David Moyes done that he finished 4th and got to champions league qualifier's in 2005 I think it was. Repeatedly got Everton into the Europa league after that. So how can you say he was aiming for 40 points sort of manager?

I will agree he was on the negative side. Martinez can afford to be more positive and play attractive football because of the situation he finds himself in. All of Everton's back 5 were signed by Moyes. let's see how Martinez does when he has a Goldie and 4 defenders that he brought. We'll see how positive the play is then.

Like I said before I'm not knocking Martinez I just haven't made up my mind on him yet. I'll be as glad as anyone if he improves things. We could be looking for a Moyes or as you put it Tony Pulis type manager. Or we could be in champions league. Anything less than champions league and I think Martinez hasn't improved things and wasted Moyes work over 10 years at Everton
