Hiya Lads, Been a while. Not even sure anyone remembers me haha. Anyways.

Missed out on Khazri and Slimani in the space of about 3 days. Doubt we'll be making any new signings, and it doesn't seem like any dead weight will be offloaded either.

Ah well. Guess we got to accept the truth that none of our dreams of becoming a top side will ever be realised.

I'm sick of Roberto now. More so with the board, but what can we do? There's always next year/ decade.

Agree1 Disagree0

When did we miss out on these 2? Is it like Shaqiri were we missed out despite never being interested? .

It is frustrating QB but I will always live in hope. Some debates on here about us being big / small club.

My take on it is we're a so called sleeping giant. In terms of winning trophies we are well behind the times. But the potential is there. Big fan base is a key aspect to any future development and we have a very decent fanbase.

Some people make comments on here about 'small club mentality' which I laugh at.

Like seriously does anyone have a 'small club mentality'. I mean I don't think Bill or any Evertonian for that matter would choose us to remain mid-table. Everyone would want us to be winning things and to be a successful big club. Don't think anyone has the mindset 'i'd rather be mid table than competing at the very top'. To suggest such a 'small club mentality' like that is ludicrous imho.

Now there's a big difference in that and being sensible and being grateful for not getting relegated. Some people say we're not ambitious enough because we don't splash the cash like its going out of fashion.

I've seen us at our lowest in the top flight and seen how close we were to being relegated. Thank god that never happened. Since those days I consider the club well run to where it is today.

In no financial difficulties and interesting some investers. Does that make my appreciation for the club remaining stable having 'a small club mentality'.

Of course not. These people who think we should have a big club mentality (their words not mine, I think we are a big club) . Could they tell me how we get competing at the top again.

Because as far as I know money doesn't grow on trees and just because someone has a big club mentality doesn't automatically mean a Jeanie is going to appear clap his fingers and et wallah we're automatically competing at the very top.

I know most these peoples answer is a big rich investor to come in and bring back the glory days. Nowadays that's almost the only way to get back up competing.

Problem with that is these people unless they are like Chelsea's and Man Cities owner (who use their club as a past time) they invest to make money and don't care about Everton F. C.

They only care about making a profit. There are those who would definitely help Everton. I'd welcome them with open arms. Bill I think is a very capable man in choosing who to hand the reins over to.

Of course he and the board are not perfect and have made mistakes. Imho overall they have done good with Everton.

Anyway that's just my view and as I said I consider us a big club with huge potential to return to glory days. Arsenal are a team I admire and I'd like to see us be similar in our approach to future running of the club.

That's just my view but hey what do I know. All I want is for Everton F. C. to get back to winning ways and be the great powerhouse we once were.

"Arsenal are a team I admire".

NBTB you legend :-)

When I started following Everton around 1955 ie 60 years ago, I considered Everton the TOP club in England along with Arsenal. In those days John Moores was chairman and bought whatever top player was available or was wanted.

I still consider Everton a big club but unfortunately not delivering big results at the moment. I used to go to Goodison wondering how many we would win by, not as it is today. Mind you we had better managers in those days. Older posters can verify that.
Now the club is in a better financial state thanks to Bill and Moyes, all is being wasted the longer Martinez remains. With this squad and better manager we should be in the top 4 EVERY season.

With all respect to clubs like West Ham, Crystal Palace, Watford, Leicester, Stoke etc we should not be below them in the league table. We have no entitlement to be above those clubs but we are where we are for the simple fact Martinez is not a good enough manager for a club like Everton. Those other clubs have improved, changed manager, invested, so Everton need to do the same starting manager change.

Of course I do Gunner. Respect also, love the way they run the club and Wenger. Your transfer policy is very admirable. Not like Man Utd, City or Chelsea.

I know its a while since you've won something but I'm hopeful that changes this season.

Then Wenger would have broken the mould and more will follow.

Expect next season when we win the league 😜.

It's hard not to admire the gooners dags when you think about it mate. Here's why.

United at the start of the prem had all the dollar and walked there way to the league title

Then a man called jack walker ploughed millions into Blackburn won the league

Arsenal just got a new manager with new philosophies who brought in Viera, petit and a couple more if I remember right he brought a new way of living for the squad of Bruce rioch they then held off for years when it came to big money buys and IMO punched above there wait in terms of what they spent and what they achieved so they could fund a new stadium that will increase income all of that they done without having to sell there sole to a Russian/ american devil I know kronke I think his name is, is there but they got to were they are today the hard way wenger I believe has grafted his balls off for about twenty years will go down in history as one of the biggest legends that's ever had a connection to your club

Since walker there has been abramavic and the city owners they also bought it simple as that

To me and most people arsenal are a proper club I think us and you lot hold there record for consecutive top flight seasons Coventry were with us but there well gone and I'm afraid if we don't get rid of bobby brown shoes it could just be arsenal mate.

You are so correct NBTB,
We couldn't compete with the likes of Man City and Chelsea and their sugar Daddies, selling their soul to the devil, as well as their tradition and heritage, for a few pieces of silver (ware) .

Wenger did the right thing, selling Highbury and building The Emirates, thus enabling extra match day revenue to boost our spending power.

Alas, we had to sell some of our star players to help pay off the "mortgage".

However, short term pain for long term gain (hopefully) , but more importantly, we still keep our tradition intact.

Just my opinion anyway.

Absolute top post Liam and so correct.

Respect.

Ahh Swanny, How I missed your blunt sarcasm and cutting humour. Yes we have been linked to both, and Khazri is agreeing a fee with Sunderland now, whilst we have had a bid rejected for Slimani.

NBTB, Agree with what both you and Keenone are saying, but as a younger evertonian, I've never seen Everton win anything, and so, it remains that I can't see us waking up from this "sleep" as you put it. And lately, I've started to even just accept that we are a standard Mid-Table club.

With that, I want Martinez to go now. I am at the end of my tether with that man, but I doubt we'll see him go until we drop below that relegation line. Because it is more profitable for the board to put in just enough finances to see us to coast through season by season in the PL, rather than Invest big, and taking a chance for top 4, as there is possibility that it won't happen.

Idk. I've just had enough. Desperately wanted a trophy, and it was bad enough that we got beat, but then I saw Roberto's post match comments, and it just cemented to me that even the manager thought we were at our level.

Agree with blueliam. I was trying to say what you've said but you put it across better than I did.
