Get him signed up Farhad! Rooney has looked outstanding in his new midfield role. he's playing like Stanley Matthews in there ;) . very impressed with Shrek. think him and Barkley could be boss in our midfield next season.

I must be missing the Rooney love in. he has been poor for a couple of seasons now. I watched the England game and apart from a few cross field balls, he did nothing spectacular. wouldn't pay what he wants in wages and a transfer fee for sentiment from us Everton fans. MLS will be next stop probably.

I'd love to see him back Soli but its just not going to happen this summer at least. Rooney wouldn't want to leave. Not with being so close to beating the goal scoring record. He'll forever be in the history books if he breaks that.

Also the Mourinho factor will probably encourage him to stay. He tried to sign him while at Chelsea.

January or after maybe. The two Eds seem to think he's heading for USA when he's finished here. Maybe but something tells me we haven't seen the last of him in a blue shirt yet.

dentielad I disagree. Imho Rooney still has it and would be an addition to any squad for a couple of seasons to come yet.

Must have watched a different game to me. I have to agree with Dentielad.

Doesn't say much for England then. Who else is there?

To say the lad is finished is a bit premature but, that said, I don't see him coming back any time soon. There have been a few factors in why he has not been at his best in the last two seasons and, imo, they boil down to the manager/ s utd have had. LVG's style of football wasn't up to much and he was pushed further back from an attacking role into midfield. I believe a manager like Jose will get him back to his best.
He gets a rough ride from most fans, whether blues or those who follow England, yet it is a bit blinkered. He can't be that bad if he has the most international goals for England plus he is closing in on Sir Bobby's record haul at club level. Not bad records to have on his cv are they?

Couldn't agree more spudv.

I never said he was finished. i said he has been poor for a couple of seasons now. We go on about Moshiri and how we have a new confidence at the club than under bill. Rooney would be a Bill signing, sentiment and one last hurrah, but we need players that are young'ish, not going to break the bank, and who will get better, not declining in their career, so I think imo that Rooney shouldn't be a signing we should make.

My bad dentie, misread your post mate.
We only have a new confidence because FM brings cash otherwise expectations wouldn't be so high with the fans. I just hope most of us don't expect us to be buying the elite players any time soon or there will be a few having a go on here! No room for sentiment, imo, unless the player/ person brings something to the table. Would his return benefit the club? I think it would but, at the same time, the money involved would make it near impossible.
