Right so Rooney rejoins Everton and people keep using the term "fan pleaser" but I'm 99.9% certain that this one doesn't please me. I'm looking at this objectively and I can see this going badly!

He's won loads of trophies, he's a worldwide family household name, it's a bit of a love story, he's a role model for youngsters and he will work his nuts off for the team. Completely agree.

He's getting old, he costs a fortune in wages, he broke every single Everton heart and do you want a role model to be someone who rubbish on us? Someone who sets an example like that? He might try his best for the team but how good is his best.

I don't even think he will get in the squad. Silly move bringing him back.

Of course he will score goals and I will celebrate them as the rest of you do but I just don't think I want him in an Everton shirt again. He hasn't earned the right. He needs to come out with a statement that's heartfelt and I need to see and feel how much he wants this move to even start to justify this move!

We all have mixed emotions around rooney. Personally I don't have any hard feelings about him leaving when he did. In all honesty we probably needed it more than he did. The kissing the badge thing wound me up but these things happen. He still brings his boys to watch us when he can and definitely still loves the club. On top of that, his impact on the youngsters in the club cannot be underestimated.

Or you could argue that he left us won everything for essentially the biggest club in world football, he could have gone and played in the US or china or probably a fair few other teams but he will tell the younger players being a blue never leaves you and despite all the money and glory you will always want to play one more game for Everton no matter where your career takes you.

Yes he broke are hearts yes we all no that but at the end off the day he left a club who struggled for a club he won everything at plus set records not just at club level internatinal to i am happy to take him back we had the likes of kone cleaverly niasse an so on on the bench an to get rid of them an bring the likes of rooney in how can anyone complain Plus i garentee when he is finished at everton he wil be ryr in the coaching role for the youth an ya can't ask for a better youth i think he is a role model and has so much experiance i for one think its a great move 👍🏻.

{Ed025's Note - i hope your right callum mate..

I don't even think its the past that is the problem as I for one am over him leaving when he did, my reason for not wanting him is purely based on footballing issues, as a club we can do better than bringing Wayne in as I'm sure his wages aren't going to be drastically short of what he is on at Utd, then there is the issue of were will he play? Is he coming to do what in essence he is doing at United for a lot more money, and that's sitting on the bench, I think not, therefore who drops out to make room for him? I would rather have Giroud as he is a different type of forward than what we already have, he is a target man who can bring players into play around him, midfielders like Klassen and Bolasie and even Sandro.
I also feel Giroud is a better option for a lone striker role when needed, he gives you the route 1 option, which Pickford is capable of executing with his kicking.
I can't fault Wayne's success in scoring and trophies, but that was then and this is now.
We are a different club now with ambitions for the future, and the past is best left were it is, behind us.

I think everyone is forgetting he left us when we were in big dept, we needed to sell him to be able to move forward, DM was then able to get new player and we did very well because of it, he was young and who cam blame a player leaving to do what he's done, now if he's over the hill and has nothing to offer I'm sure RK wouldn't be interested, he will add quality, let's be honest he had one of the best strikers in the world to compete against, who do you think Jose would have picked out of lukaku and Zlatan he would of gone with Zlatan so we really can't judge on someone who has spent a lot of time sat on the bench, your confidence drops but I do no he gives every thing and will help against the top teams.

Svenny, Callum, well put guys, your absolutely correct. Our bench last season was weak, and looking at some of the names you mentioned it's a wonder we finished as high as we did.
