Still mulling over last nights game and to be honest if it'd been an old fashioned pay on the turnstile game I probably wouldn't have gone given recent performances and the fact it was a bitterly cold early winter's evening.
However lesson learned and I'm now glad I did go.
While it wasn't the most polished performance from the players they did show a lot more character than they have all season and played with a lot more passion and desire. Was it to give Unsworth a worthy send off or was it because the new manager was watching I just don't know, although I'd like to think it was a bit of both.
I'm not going to single out any individual players other than to say that they all looked more of a team than they have all season, even the two number 10's on the same pitch seemed to work well for a change with both looking more confident.
For me though, the one thing that stood out was the reaction of each player who got subbed, each of them gave Unsworth a big man hug as they went off, none of this quick handshake or pat on the back, hugs with real emotion which was again shown at the final whistle by all of the players and even Moyes.
It was plain to see just how much the players think of him and also the fans when he got a standing ovation.
I think everyone will agree Unsworth wasn't ready for the job full time but he will have learned a hell of a lot and if he takes that knowledge and experience back to the under 23's they'll be an amazing prospect.
Credit where it's due to Unsworth, he never once shirked or ducked under the pressure he must have been under and always spoke positively and honestly about everything and everyone.
I just hope that he now uses that experience to develop himself and would one day like to see him back in the hot seat on a permanent basis.
Thanks Rhino, you gave it your all under horrible circumstances and came out the other side with your pride intact.

Good post that mate. Many on here are calling for the heads of ex-Evertonians on the coaching staff. Watching Unsworth's and Ferguson's goal celebrations showed what they feel about the club. Hopefully they will still be at the club when the likes of Sammy Lee depart.

I’m an evertonian through and through, jump around like a loon when we score, I even believe I feel more for the club than them.
So does this qualify me for a coaching job?
People are saying we need the clear out cause maybe that contributes to the problem, managers are being told to take coaches on there staff, these coaches may well have the clubs interest at heart but it certainly don’t mean that they are the best option at what they do.
Some ambassador roles, ok. U23 Unsy doing well so ok. Does not mean the first team has to have ex players involved. Managers should chose theee own back room staff and if that means moving ex players on then do be it, in more interested in the club now than players of the past. Let the past be the past.
