My assessment of our squad and "told you so" attitude is just how I see things. Sorry guys if it winds you up. However, 2.5 seasons ago when I was warning about the type of midfielder that RM was signing and the lack of Osman and Pienaar replacements, everyone told me things were great. But we ended the last 2 seasons looking absolutely terrible and close to relegation. On a more positive note, the signing of Steve Walsh is exactly what we needed. I posted about 2 months ago that Koeman may be a good manager but perhaps we needed to sign his talent spotting staff. The ones who had brought so many quality players into Southampton. Well, I see the Walsh signing as being exactly that. Niasse may turn out a great signing. but I just don't think he is good enough from what I have seen. which I admit is not a lot. But hopefully Walsh and his assistant will sign andd we will then have a source of good lower priced players who will lead to the success we all crave. That is likely to be in 2 to 3 seasons. Right now I feel our squad is not as good as some of the Premier Leagues average ones. eg Leicester, West Ham, Southampton have better squads in my opinion. Add those 3 to the usual top 5 or 6 clubs and we are ending up bottom half. that's my assessment. I would love to be higher and love to sign 4 players now that would take us into the top 4 but I just don't see it. I see bottom half and will be happy to see 3 or 3 signings without losing Stones or Lukaku. I would be happy to see 1 or 2 youngsters establish first team positions and would be absolutely delighted to end up 9th. Caall me negative if you like, but that's how I see it.

Even when we get a bit of decent news, you still manage to create a post which pisses on our bonfire! None of us can forget what you say, you continually repeat it for us anyway! Bottom half? You're having a laugh Degsy, this squad should have been competing for the european spots for the last couple of seasons. We all know that the previous manager and his 'philosophy' held back some very talented players.
We have a new investor who is willing to spend some cash, a new manager who is well respected throughout the game, possibly a new DoF if we can tie up a deal and talks over a new stadium are advancing nicely yet you don't mention any of that.

I have a feeling you are going to be pleasantly surprised with a top six finish. I disagree to some degree I think the youngsters coming through plus Tarashaj may be capable replacements for Ossie and Peanuts goal wise. I still would like to see a couple of new players brought in LM especially.

Right Degsy. A couple of things. Our goalscoring record over the past three years was nothing different to Moyes or anyone else since 1986. Goals were not the problem as I've stated to you in most of your posts. It doesn't matter who scores as long as you score.

What did matter was defensively we were pants over the past two years. That is were the problem was.

As for talent spotting. We've done alright over the past few years with signings but we are now shopping in a different department store and can afford to get a better quality of player. Not the elite but better.

Besic, Barry (Free) , McCarthy, Lukaku, Ged Fed, Mori, Robles, Even Lennon for £6mil are not bad players. Kone's injury finished him off but before that had an excellent record in the EPL and Spanish league and there were poor buys in Eto, Niasse and McGeady. His loan signings tended to be very poor as well.

However, we have a plethora of youth coming through and therefore the youth set up is very good and our recruitment there is probably one of the best in Europe not only the EPl.

Steve Walsh is a good addition but as with the previous management he will buy players to fit in with the managers philosophy.

As for not finishing in the top half. Leicester and Southampton have just shown what you can do with a good TEAM ethic and that you don't necessarily need to go out and spend £200 mil to win a trophy or compete with the elite.

Reminding people of your flawed views are probably not the best thing to do and instead if you have a valid new point leave out the "I told you so's". You have some good debate topics and mine is just an alternative point of view to yours which also maybe wrong but starting most conversations with I said 2 months ago just makes you sound up your own arse.

Either way just shake out those troubles and worries and go with the flow of seeing our club being positive on so many fronts. We've ALL been moaning for this for 20 years.

BlueJohnUns you said it perfectly. It's not that anyone doesn't appreciate an alternative viewpoint or indeed your perspective Degsy, and there's no need to continually give yourself a pat on the back for believing what you said 2 years ago to be proved right (wouldn't necessarily say that's the case in all points) . In addition just because you repeat yourself doesn't make you any more or less right than you already are. And this, I think is the crux of the problem. Your posts are mostly repetitive, to the point where I can describe 90% of your posts to a tee. They all start with "Last week/ month/ year/ 2 years I was criticised for my "negative attitude/ view" (which has to be in speechmarks, as if you don't realise every view you have is negative) . You then go on to repeat said view (e. g. Osman is boss, Moyes was perfect, no replacements for Osman/ Pienaar, lack of goalscoring midfielders, we aren't good enough, not enough money etc) .

The thing is, wrong or right (no-one can say as it's just a matter of opinion) hardly anyone agreed with you first time, so you repeat your post a while later hoping someone else will agree with you, but you are mostly speaking to the same people as before, which means you are mostly shouted down again. Are you just going to keep repeating until we all agree with you? Maybe you need to just say your piece, and if you turn out to be right, I'm sure some of us on here would be humble enough to admit that you were right.

I do value your opinion and do think you make a good contribution to debates but maybe next time you write a post think to yourself: Have I said this before? And then if that answer is yes think: has anything happened related to what I said, and if the answer to that is no think again. That way you will wind less people up and won't feel like everyone is getting at you all the time.

Degsy you will do well to heed the advice from BlueJohnUns and Blue Tommy. Even if it is direct I think they are being kind to you.

20 Jul 2016 14:39:37
Degsy do you ever give up trying to prove you're right and no other opinion matters 😂😂😂😂
I read the first line of your above post and can't stop laughing. Don't think i'll bother with the rest of it because I know it'll be about us not replacing Osman, scoring goals etc. I agree with everything said, in the replies to your message by other blues that are sick of reading your 'I told you so' last season.

Degsy is our own Dave Whelan. Do you know he once broke his leg in the cup final 😂.

We will see. I will take any one on a 1:1 bet that we finish bottom half.
