I don't know if I'm having second thoughts on Sam. We have just missed out on European football. No one believed that was going to happen half way through the Season. Excluding Pickford who has hit the ground running. The rest of the team have struggled settling in and gelling. Allerdyce bought in Tosun and Walcott and both have settled in pretty quick leading the front line. Them two are linking up nice and now Schneiderlin's starting to play. A few more of them quality signings from him and Walsh and we could be on to a winner. I'm just wondering if it was Koeman being an arse when working with Walsh, but aren't we replacing Walsh with Brand's?
Allerdyce has supposedly come out and said he's having a clear out this summer. That's certainly going to put the cat amongst the pigeons for some. I fear we will lose Lookman if he stays. So I'm unsure. But if I had to make the final decision. I'd probably have to go with Allerdyce to leave in the hope the new boss would bring Lookman on the very first plane back home for him to work his magic. Trouble is Walcott now saying he's getting the left wing. Not putting him there for Lookman is that going tick Walcott off. Then are we going to get the best out of him. So now I don't know again. I know that's just me thinking. But I would love to see Lookman back in the blue. I just don't see when.

7 points out of 9 against Huddersfield, Brighton and Newcastle should be the minimum from this club. If we are to make a step-up, get results against good teams, he is not the man. If you're happy with plucky little Everton giving it a go, then that's up to you mate, but I'd like to see us show at least a little ambition.

01 May 2018 08:22:13
Just thinking outside the box here. Are we 'plucky' because big Sam is not happy with what is at his disposal? Is he playing the team in a way that he feels is the best as a whole to get results because of this?

I'm not saying I want him to stay. Mainly because of similar concerns to Mowfee82 about the younger players. Thing is in the perspective of big Sam he is going to be here next season. He is probably thinking next season will be his team and his style rather than dealing with the squad he was given. 6th in the premiership in terms of results since his arrival. Football not attractive but not a bad feat for how we were when he came in.

01 May 2018 09:27:31
HugoEFC our season started off full of ambition and got us nowhere. Pragmatism and common sense is what I think we need. Any team can beat any other team on any given day so I would rather just take every game as it comes and not look at who we should be beating or not beating.

01 May 2018 09:37:30
Lookman should be on the left now instead of Bolasie but due to Oxo not giving him a chance he went out on loan. If SA stays then any youth looking to come through will have to look elsewhere as he ain't going to give them a chance here. We have decent players in Lookman, Vlasic and Beni but without a proper mentor they will look to progress elsewhere, which doesn't benefit us at all.

01 May 2018 10:31:19
First of all he is playing the way he is because it is the only way he knows how to play

Second he does not believe that on its day any team can beat any other team. He does not even try to get even a draw against any of the top 6 and most away games would happily settle for a point

Because of these traits and being pragmatic about it we will not finish in top 6 nor will we win any cups if he stays so another season of mediocracy looms.

If that is the decision then that's the decision but I still feel there needs to be an announcement on it before Saturday or it could be very ugly at Goodison.

01 May 2018 11:52:32
Bluegray87 Valsic played the last match and Beni has been on the bench for the last four and got on the pitch in two of those. Davies and DCL get to play quite regularly so I don't think SA has a particular dislike to playing youth just prefers to play experienced players.

01 May 2018 12:43:38
Surely you don't think being one of the most boring teams in the league is making the most of the players' talents SA has at his disposal? i don't mean that as a subjective matter either, just look at the stats. This doesn't exist in a vacuum either; SA has been playing that kind of football for the majority of his time as a manager, so not sure how you can really say this is the best that he can do with what's in front of him?

01 May 2018 12:44:56
We will be the next Stoke or West Brom hovering around 8th-13th at best. Wont win a cup as we will not compete against a top side.

There is no evidence to suggest he can change his ways regardless of what stats are thrown out there.

01 May 2018 13:06:58
Hugo I don't like SA's football much either and don't want him here next season but a win is a win and at the moment we are winning. I would rather win ever game and have SA than have attractive football and loose. Substance over style for me.

01 May 2018 13:09:51
Higo EFC merely pointing out that may be the way been big Sam is looking at it. How he thinks he can get the best out of the team as certain players he probably wants to replace. Not saying I agree with it but its explains why he sets the team up this way.

He did improve teams in the past. West Ham taking them to promotion back to the premier league. Is that a bad thing? We all know his style of play gets criticised but it is proven to get results. Can't see how anyone can argue with that. We needed results when he came in.

He got them and as I said 6th highest number of points in the premiership since he arrived. Would people rather we went back to the more attractive style, for example Martinez where we were dropping down the league towards relegation?

01 May 2018 13:55:13
I understand, NB. Apologies if this is coming across as antagonistic too!

I get that its a results business at the end of the day, and I wouldn't go back to the days of Martinez at all, but it isn't a case of one or the other either. We could do better than what was, and is, being offered by the manager at the moment.

I just don't get how people can start to be swayed by him for beating Newcastle and Huddersfield, no disrespect to either team.

01 May 2018 14:33:22
Hugo, I don't think anyone on this site would disagree we couldn't do better.

01 May 2018 15:02:05
Totally HugoEFC we can do better and we will. Big Sam doesn't deserve the amount of backlash he is getting imho. He is here for the now. Don't expect he'll be much longer. Next season will be his last if he gets that far.

01 May 2018 19:12:27
I really do not understand what all this cock and bull about Allardyce is. For a start I do not think we were in danger when he took over. I doubt he has done any more than RK or another would have done. As for the future of this club, well if the board want to languish in the mid table area year in year out he is the man. Any higher than 8th / 9th then we need better. He knows only one way to play. Given all the money in the world he could not put a trophy winning squad together because no top player would want to play his way, and as long as he has a hole in his backside will never win anything major. Get rid asap or get rid of the board who have little or no ambition other than to line their pockets.

01 May 2018 19:34:52
We don't have 100s of millions to spend every season so we have to rely on turning our promising youngsters into world class players, that's how we can mount an assault on the top 6. We need someone who is going to bring those players through.

01 May 2018 20:05:09
Opinions usually can't be wrong but the opinion that SA would be a good manager next season is wrong.

01 May 2018 20:47:49
Pluses for Allardyce - he brought in Walcott and Tosun.

Downsides - everything else.

He brought in Tosun then slated him for a few games for not having adapted immediately. Then Tosun starts scoring and Allardyce says “that’s why we brought him in”.

Allardyce is a dicatator that passes any available blame but takes any available credit. He’s like that manager that all of us have worked for and hated. His style of football and management are 15-20 years out of date.

Give him his £6m (he’s earned that for our league placing) and send him on his way. Benitez would be my ideal choice but won’t be popular with many of you. Fonseca or Dyche after that.

01 May 2018 22:44:34
If anybody thinks dyche plays more flowing football than sam, they are deluded, on newcastle's resent visit, it was an exercise in parking the bus with 11 behind the ball, and fonseca has, by reports turned us down.
Sam has only brought in two players and they have both delivered, givern the opertunity to bring in 3 or 4 players of his own and he just might deliver the kind of perfomances that we all want to see.
In short he has earned the chance of a season, and should be judged on that. we were in free fall when he got here, and in my view have him to thank for pulling us clear of relegation, without him this comeing two games could have been nail biting games, never want a winblden last game ever again.

{Ed0333's Note - Good evening Mr Allardyce.

02 May 2018 16:01:20
Hes earned his paycheck and reached bis ceiling. Thank you and goodbye.
