I've posted before that Pickford is a good keeper but he has a fault with shots above shoulder height which defies biomechanics and results in a goal.
He did it at West Ham in the last game of the season and he did it again tonight against Belgium.
His fault is he uses the wrong hand by crossing his arm across his body, considerably reducing his reach and taking a split second longer as a result.
As at West Ham he actually got a touch to tha ball but would have easily reached the shot if he had gone with his right hand.
This needs pointier and coached out of him asap.

So you think he should have saved it?

I think what he is saying Woburnblue is that Pickford still has someway to go before being the finished article. Whilst having the potential to be a top keeper he has many small faults that need working on.

Two parts to this. No1 both Delph and Rose were the culprits that cost the goal and allowed the space for the shot.

No2 Pickford would have expected Rose to show him the line meaning he was in the right place for the driven cross in the 6 yard box. Due to Rose showing him inside it meant he was out of position, slightly and unable to fully reach the shot.

The goal was not his fault at all.

However, he needs to improve his saves away from danger. Although again, in this game the two incidents were very difficult. Both times the Ball was hit with pace and with a player in front of him.

Nowhere, near the finished article but people are dying to rip him apart. So far in three games 3 against him and not one of them are his fault.

Considering his age Pickford is at an advanced stage in his career development. We have a keeper that will be as good as any in a few years. He will be the best keeper we have had since Southall.

We need a keeper that is as good as that if we are to win anything.

If I’m honest, I couldn’t give a monkeys what the pundits say, good or bad. I just want him to have a confidence boosting tournament so that he can be even better for us next season.

Fancy, I’ve just read an article about him using the wrong hand in the echo, here are some quotes from it;

A leading goalkeeping coach who worked with former Everton and USA goalkeeper Tim Howard, however, believes that Pickford's technique was correct - and that he actually changed his own goalkeeping coaching to reflect that technique.

It goes on to explain that certain goalies are faster athletes and can use this technique, not only does it suit them better but they get to the ball faster than using their top hand, ‘the bottom hand can be said to be more effective at covering a greater distance of the goal. ’

People fast to critise one of our own.

Be styrne, was going to add, the momentum of throwing that hand across may propel his body faster in that direction.
Tests need to then determine if the movement momentum out weighs the short fall in reach.
Not sure on that one.

Maybe Ed02 can clarify but it looks like Rooney has gone with a clean break as in we are not paying any of his wages. If so it's a big chunk off the wage bill.

Think we’re all guilty of being a tad soft in the head for supporting the Blues.

While it's disappointing for Sigurdsson and Gueye that they've gone out of the World Cup at the group stage, I'm pleased from a selfish Everton perspective, as they will both now be able to be back in pre-season training earlier than might have been.

Shame we don’t have any Germans, bet Arsenal are happy 😆
And Sane at Man City hasn’t really missed much.

That was ridiculous not taking Sane he's a cracking player probably better than any of their other attackers.

official wayne gone, come back done a job in a terrible side during a terrible season. 11 in 41 games isn't a bad record to have off this year, time to move forward.

how many penalties, should have two lists, one with, one with out, for all players would give a better indication, and more interest.

Agree1 Disagree4

28 Jun 2018 19:13:17
So if a player gets taken out just as they are going to score and then they score the penalty it doesn't count against their tally. Seems pointless.

Smit666: the only thing that’s pointless is us in pretty much every match against a “top six” side for way too many years!

That will change Bobby Silvas record against big teams ibn the prem is better than ours and that is with Hull and Watford lol.

Now that Wayne and Allardyce have both gone, who’ll eat all the pies?
Beryl, the tea lady, will have to reduce her regular order with the caterers!

I think that’s why she is nervous, she bought in bulk and feels she may be viewed as wasting funds and needing to cut down the stock in the fridges
Brands has told her she needs to sell some before she can buy more.
