Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Jonathan Walters to boost numbers anyone? I rate him he works hard and score goals plus he's an evertonian.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's a grafter and a journeyman, nothing more. Wouldn't improve us in any way at all. Good honest pro, but nothing special. Not good enough for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walters would have been the type of player for us when DM first joined. He'd have been the player that Tim Cahill would have replaced a few years into DM's tenure. Now, whatever Walters's undoubted qualities, he would IMHO be a backward step now - a step towards the sort of journeymen players we used to have - decent, honest, hardworking, and committed, but not at the level we need to stay near the top of the table. It's like comparing Kilbane (who I always liked) to Mirallas or Pienaar at their best.

If moyes is staying, fine. If he's going, fine, but don't you think now that europe has gone, he really owes both the supporters, and the club an answer? No player is bigger than the club we are always told, well no manager is either. {Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your right mate we need an answer, honestly I want Moyes to stay but there is a part of me that says a change could be a good thing, but if it was down to me I would keep him. Stef the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I hope DM will stay. He will only go now if he has massive resources at his disposal at another club. You can't blame him if he does.

With all the money that is in football I think its about time another two or three teams started to compete for the title and champions league spots. Personally I think there is more interest generated these days in champions league/europa slots and relegation battles more so than who wins premier league.

I am a blue nose through and through, but I have to say this that BR at the RS is a decent footballing manager and knows exactly where he wants to go. It took him a while but they have bought into his style. He will have more resources than DM unless we are bought however contrary to his comments we r the best team on Merseyside, but it worries me that they may overtake us.

We deserve so much more and hope that BK can attract the right investor as I think we really could become develop the peoples club ethos worldwide.

Agree0 Disagree0

Europe is not gone yet, its a long shot, need 6 points from last 2 games and spurs to get beat in their last 3, it is a long shot but don't say it is gone until it actually is

Agree0 Disagree0

It's gone.

Everton should go for townsend on loan at qpr, he will be cheap and be looking to stay in the prem, also in need of a good standard winger.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's a Tottenham player and they (specifically Daniel Levy) make sure they get top-dollar on any outgoing transfer.

Am I the only one to think that DM needed to win the FA Cup this year more than Everton as a club did? The prize and TV money from winning the FA Cup and playing in the UEFA Europa League is not game-changing for us - unlike qualifying for the UEFA Champions League group stages would be.
However, for DM, winning a trophy adds to his CV and removes the criticism that he's won nothing.
I still think that DM taking over from Neil Lennon at Celtic could be possible - it'd give DM the chance to manage a Champions League club and his CV would be accordingly enhanced. The alternative could be managing in the Bundesliga, but his lack of trophies and lack of CL experience could be a show stopper.
Either way, he'll sooner or later get a job at a "wealthier" club and eventually be the Scotland manager.
If he'd had the funds to build a bigger/better squad, would he have won trophies at Everton and would he have achieved regular CL qualification? Would he have played progressive, expansive, entertaining, attacking football if he'd had the better players earlier on during his managerial stint? Would he have done better with a modern stadium to fund the club's progress?

Ed, would you mind rating the likelihood of these things happening out of 10 please?

1. Moyes Staying
2. Lescott rejoining
3. McCarthy signing from Wigan
4. Negredo OR Fer signing
5. Fellaini leaving
6. Baines leaving
7. Honda signing

Cheers! And keep up the good work!

Be honest - how much do you really think we'd get in transfer fees for our most currently saleable assets: Fellaini and Baines?
And how much for the players whose form has dropped this season: Jelavic and Heitinga?
Apart from Jagielka and Mirallas, who I imagine could command decent fees (but who I wouldn't expect to lose this coming transfer window), our other players are mostly 30-plus (or thereabouts), or too inconsistent, or too injury-prone, or still too young and too inexperienced - all of which means IMHO limited potential for big transfer fees for them.
The more I think about it, the £12 million (and counting) we got for Rodwell was a great deal.
Whatever fees we might bring in, does anyone think it'd all be available for incoming transfers?
We might be able to increase the squad by a handful of incoming players, but I think we'll be mostly dependent on our U-21 and U-18 players proving good enough for the Premier League.
I think we're in for a few seasons on inconsistency as younger players replace the ageing squad members.
If we get through that, then we should have the platform to progress.
Of course, if some sugar daddy would let our club spend his money, then it might be a different scenario - but that's not likely - is it?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know which U-21 and U-18 players will be retained or not, but am I the only one who gets frustrated when we go through all the rigmarole of "taking" promising players from other clubs and then, after a couple years apparently not progressing at Everton, we release them? I'd be hugely annoyed if young George Green isn't given the opportunity to prove himself at Everton.
Who, during Moyes' reign, has come brought the Everton ranks and become a regular Everton first teamer? Pretty much it's Hibbert and Osman. Rooney left, as has Rodwell, but what other homegrown talent has been successful with us over the past decade or so? Compare that with Everton-boyhood-supporters that have turned out for the darkside and elsewhere. {Ed025's Note - thats one of moyes,s failings for me sid..

Even if we win our two remaining. Matches and get up to 66 points, does anyone really believe that will put us into 5th place considering that Tottenham, with three matches still to play, are already on 65 points?
It would have been "game changing" IMHO if Everton had qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stages and benefitted from the commercial income that gives.
Qualifying for the UEFA Europa League would have been a double-edged sword: helping us attract some better players, but not generating enough income to be "game-changing". It would also have stretched our thin squad and our Premier League performance (and position) would surely have suffered.
Without the commercial income (excluding the TV income) that a modern stadium could provide, we'll be restricted by Financial Fair Play and IMHO it'll be vital that our promising young players deliver on their potential. Otherwise, I fear we'll not be able to compete.

Howard, Coleman, Lescott, Jagielka, Baines, Fer, Gibson, Mirallas, Honda, Stoch, Jelavic on form.

If we sell Felli (like I hope we do, he's not been as good) then I'd really want Lukaku on loan, looks really good for WBA This season.

I always enjoy the posts from Cowpat Sid, but am intrigued by his name. Can he - or anyone - explain where it came from?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I remember the name Cowpat Sid being used on another Everton fans' forum many years back. I guess it's the same person, as I can't imagine two people inventing the same nickname so many years apart, but only Cowpat Sid can confirm.

Agree0 Disagree0

Judging by his posts, Cowpat Sid seems quite articulate and has a self-deprecating sense of humour, so I'd guess his name is a joke about the sort of material usually posted on this website. But what would I know!

Agree0 Disagree0

His name is pat mate, and he owns a cow called sid easy one lolStef the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

I was told by someone in the know that he's called Cowpat because that's a source for making methane and Sid is having a gas on this website.

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember Cowpat Sid on that other forum - must be at least ten years ago if not even longer. Can't remember the name of the website. I do remember a lot of friendly banter with a LFC poster called Dancing Dave.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloody hell - it must be a slow news day! My theory is that he once wore a black beret and his mates slaughtered him about it and said it looked like a cowpat sitting on his head.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unlike most posters on this website, I actually know Cowpat Sid. However, also unlike many posters on this website, I won't divulge secrets - such as the origin of his name - without permission. So, my friend, please disclose the origin of your sobriquet.

Agree0 Disagree0

I first used my nickname many years ago on another Everton fans' forum website. I can't remember that forum's name. I do remember the friendly banter with Dancing Dave.
The Cowpat name has no hidden meaning - I genuinely just came up with it out of the blue. It just seemed funny, unique, and unforgettable.
For those who haven't twigged yet, although Cowpat Sid is my primary name for posting, I regularly use various other names depending on my mood or on the content of the post I'm making. If having multiple names upsets the EDs, that's too bad IMHO and I'm not aware of any restriction. Anyway, my excuse is that I did make a donation when I first registered on this website ;-) Besides, I always try to remember to login before posting so that my name (whichever one I use) is given at the end of the post. This is a great website and the EDs do a superb job. Once a blue, always a blue!

Agree0 Disagree0

Donation? Stef the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Stef the blue: re donation - when I registered my name (so that it appears in a highlighted box at the end on my posts and thereby identifies me as the genuine poster), I also took the option to make a small donation for the upkeep of the website. As well as getting an email acknowledgement of my nickname being registered, I also received a thank you for the donation. The EDs may work for free, but the hosting of the servers containing this website has to be paid for.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have no problem making a donation either if ed highlights this i'm sure we would give something. Stef the blue

Im getting very excited for the summer transfer window as I always do hopefully moyes will be in charge. there's not much that compares to sitting there for the last 10 hours of deadline day on the couch with a bottle of beer awaiting some big signings now obviously we don't do many BIG signings but I have a good feeling about this window. My dad does not want fellaini to go but I do because it could fund our push for europe and if we don't sell him I doubt we will be able to make anymore than 3 decent signings and with one likely to be a forward who will get 15 goals a season and another signing being a youngster and another one being a squad player I doubt it will be that good but if we sell fellaini we will be able to bring in 2 big signings and 2 decent ones if not then we could sign 6 decent players who could come in and out of the first team and below is a list of players I think we should look at.

John guidetti
James mccarthy
Aiden mccgeady
Diego costa
Tomas necid
Stuart holden
Douglas
David goodwillie
Jordan rhodes
Luke shaw
Sam byram
Callum mcmanaman
Marc albrighton
Joleon lescott
Leroy fer
Luuk de jong

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My views on them-Yes, No or Maybe:
Guidetti-Maybe
McCarthy-Yes
McGeady-Maybe
Costa-Never heard of him, so maybe
Necid-Yes
Holden-No
Douglas-Yes
Goodwillie-No
Rhodes-No
Shaw-Yes
Byram-Yes
McManaman-Maybe
Albrighton-Maybe
Lescott-Maybe
Fer-Yes
De Jong-Yes

Agree0 Disagree0

John guidetti - would love it, but highly unlikey
James mccarthy - would love it, possible
Aiden mccgeady - not for me
Diego costa - maybe
Tomas necid - not seen him
Stuart holden - would be a great signing and relatively cheap
Douglas - won't happen
David goodwillie - one season wonder
Jordan rhodes - eh
Luke shaw - won't happen, unless baines leaves and even still not likely
Sam byram - not with coleman and stones still around
Callum mcmanaman - could be decent but I don't see it happening
Marc albrighton - rated him very highly a few seasons back, been injured and dropped form. if he's available for less than 1.5 mil i'd take him.
Joleon lescott - maybe
Leroy fer - maybe
Luuk de jong - not going to happen

I enjoy the craic on this site, especially the suggestions for who we should move in and move out this coming transfer window. However, I believe that we should bear in mind that the financial fair play rules will be a major constraint on what we can do. The club's debts will have to be reduced, while our wage bill can only be increased by a set amount each year. Unless we have a substantial increase in commercial income (the spending of which is not restricted by FFP) or find a sugar-daddy, we'll surely be unable to bring in enough better players on corresponding wages. Anyway, as for where we are now, I expect a lot of the money from outgoing transfers to be needed to balance the books (reduce the debt and cover interest payments and operating costs) and not be available for incoming transfers. There maybe more TV money coming in, but every Premier League club will also have more TV income and the available players will surely have inflated fees and wages. Will our budget allow us to compete for the better players?
Whatever is said about BK and the board not getting new investment, my key criticism is that they have not provided a modern stadium (either a redeveloped Goodison or a new stadium elsewhere in the city) and that IMHO is preventing any further progress.
Looking at our turnover and wages (from end-2012) compared to other Premier League clubs, we're around 8th to 10th, but I'm concerned that other clubs will progress and we'll drop into the bottom half - not only of these rankings, but also the Premier League table.
Our matchday - and other commercial - income is paltry compared to other clubs. We are critically dependent on our TV income. If we lost that - by, heaven forbid, being relegated - I imagine we'd be bankrupted.
We've had a relatively good season - probably finishing sixth with only six league defeats (so far) - and we do have some top players plus a few really promising youngsters coming through. However, at the end of the season, the manager and some key players may choose to move on. Next season must IMHO be the start of a major rebuilding exercise - the club, the stadium, and the squad.
I'm all for being optimistic, but looking through royal-blue-tinted glasses might be alright for the supporters, but the club's professionals have to be much more pragmatic and face the realities of modern football.
Once a blue, always a blue - although it can be so frustrating at times! {Ed025's Note - good post that mate, very well thought out..

The biggest risk we have is our cashflow, we just about clear the wage bill every month. If we had a catastrophic event for example fixtures cancelled because of bad weather we should find ourseleves in a very difficult position in terms of our monthly expenses. Especially if the bank refuse to extend our overdraft, I believe that's why we were forced to sell Pienaar because we lost a big Xmas fixture to bad weather, we had to sell him to meet the immediate calls on our cashflow!
That's why we need a professional board who know how to boost income streams.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the commenter, how could you possibly know that we "just about clear the wage bill every month"? How? Just a silly assumption made by the fact that we have little transfer money I would of thought.

poor game yesterday but at least we never lost. was just disappointed we never really gave it a good go. when jelavic came on, we chucked vic left wing instead of going 2 up top. also the bench? mucha, hibbert, heitinga, duffy and oviedo! that is 5 defensive players out of 7 possible subs. and the other 2 were jelvic and naimsith who have been very poor this season. was barkley injured? vellios? kennedy?mcaleny? anybody with some attcking intent that could have changed the game if need be. was disappointed that moyes seemed happy enough with a bore draw. but like I said, better than a defeat and terrfic performance by jags. mirillias looked tired and went missing but he can't play well every game. felli had a poor attitude whenever he lost the ball. but hopefully next week we give a performance full of energy and give us fans summat to shout about one final time at goodison this season!

1878barlow

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is clear that DM believes some players - especially the younger players and those new to the Premier League this season - are still not yet ready for a starting place. If the squad was larger, I doubt that some of these players would even get on the substitutes' bench. It's almost become an urban myth that young players get a chance at Everton. With the changes (perhaps manager and some players moving on) likely to be coming at the end of this season, I expect that approach to change next season and our better U-21 (and maybe U-18) players to get more opportunities. It'd be risky to play too many inexperienced players, but it might pay off in the longer term. Imagine a Ross Barkley and others aged about 22 or 23 with two or three seasons of Premier League experience. It'd be like some of the players we had way back in 1969-1970 that won the league. Now that was a great team and that was great football they entertained us with.

Why are some media out there trying to slate our supporters and the good nam they have. Saying Everton fans were singing murderes to the LFCfans now I did not here that, and always the victoms never your fault, I think that 1 relates to Suarez and the way they defend him and nothing else. I doubt very much our fans would ever criticise LFC over hillsborough no way I am really pissed off with media trying to cause s*** between us and the darkside shame on them we have the best behaved fans in the world a few flres that's all our fans did wrong if u even call it that. Stef the blue {Ed025's Note - i think the reds know the score stef, we have shown great support for them in their hour of need, the press are scum mate, take no notice of anything they say..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed025: I agree - just ignore the rubbish in the press. IMHO the press cynically recognises that the public - including many of the posters on this website - have an insatiable appetite for the stories (gossip and tittle-tattle as well as genuine news) they publish and will continue buying their rags. Besides, the job of the press is to sell newspapers, so creating non-stories is part of their strategy, as is not letting the truth get in the way of what they believe would be a good story. I can probably count on one hand the football journalists I respect - the rest I regard as, at best, purveyors of the big clubs' propaganda, or, at worst, self-opinionated, lazy, and ignorant. Even ex-players writing (or more likely being ghost-written) in the press get on my nerves sometimes, as I'm sure they're instructed by their paper's editorial staff to cover specific subjects.

I am 56 years old and can honestly say in my lifetime we have never had the rub of the green with decisions against the reds. I could list may disallowed Blues goals or refused penalties for us. Or soft sending offs. I could also list ones where their players should have been off. The best example was the Clattenburg ref match. Or the Clive Thomas one. They do not even themselves up. Well not yet they haven't.

Apart from the goal, I thought the ref had a decent game, he didn't let the crowd around him or the liverpool supporters dictate his decisions. {Ed025's Note - but he did make that terrible blunder, so no praise from me mate..
