Does anybody know why Charlie Nicholas despises EFC so much?
All he ever does is slate the club and I thought "so called" pundits where supposed to show an element of non bias when commenting!
Did we turn him down way back?

He is one of the old guard that need shelving. I can't watch him, Thomson and Souness they make my skin crawl.
It's time to move on for them.

Can't stand souness, one miserable, sour faced person that. Biased views. I agree that a overhaul in pundits is needed.

Charlie Nicholas is bitter because his beloved Arsenal are dropping down the league and he’s worried they will find themselves in direct competition for the same places in the league as us.

He’s so out of touch I am surprised he’s still not sporting the mullet he had in his cheap champagne days.

It should be easy to work out our targets for recruitment in this window. Ancelotti said in his press conference that all the papers and sky sports are wrong with the names they suggested we are looking at. By a process of elimination there can’t be many players left 😂.

I'd be shocked if we did get anyone Joe.

Itll all depend on getting people out of the club and even in the summer we need to get rid to be able to invest I the squad. We'll have to be patient over the next two or three windows.

Nonsense, going to be a busy summer. Like one of the Ed alluded to : Some clubs will carry on regardless to an extent and cross the FFP line and take the fine. As proved with City several times they've escaped any point deduction (and ultimately that's the one not to get clobbered with) and pay a fine.

It's a calculated risk and I'm sure if the summer comes and we don't back Carlo, he will be off quoting broken promises and yet another massive contract to buy out. Think the 2 billionaires will figure out a way to make it work.

Chelsea seem to be in trouble yet Roman is rumoured to be happy to splash 120 mil on 1 player. I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing to worry about is keeping the manager.

Knowing our luck we will get hit with the points deduction.

You are talking Everton here Toffeeapple, if we breach it, be sure to land a points deduction.

The financial year we are in at the moment will see some profit from players sold, Gana, Vlasic Onyekuru and Lookmana all went for decent money. Add to it the overseas TV money coming the next financial year. That should go some way to easing the financial pain.
Off loading some big earners in the summer is the key. Schneiderlin, Bolasie, Michael Keane, Sandro and Walcott need to be shifted if possible.
The summer will bring the end of Mirallas, Martina, Niasse and Garbutt.

It's not all doom and gloom but things will be tight over the next few years. I suspect we may sprinkle the squad with a few older sticking plasters and some young cheap players with potential, or promote a couple from the U23s.

There is no way we are going to pay Ancelotti one of the greatest managers and not back him although it will be restricted in this window summer will be busy, shipping players out is the biggest quest and is the reason why wage bill is horrific.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2020 21:20:09
Never said we wouldn't invest in the summer apple but we will still want to clear some of that wage bill.

However, the idiots thinking we'll go out there and spend stupid amounts of money need a reality check. You watch they'll start having a go at the board and Brands again over purchases.

All I'm saying is Carlo is here on a 4 year deal, it won't all come at once.

He's 60,i can't see him waantting to inch along year on year. If it's a slow summer, the 1st big team that make an offer and are in the CL will take him away. He was "convinced" about the project and that is clear.

Yes lads, hahaha you're right, we'd get murdered, probably kicked down to the Norther league.

Following on from our wages being around 85% and Ed02 rightly picking up on this being a worrying concern, a few have asked about terminating contracts, which will still see them being paid off for the remaining time left.

Here is an even more worrying piece about players out on loan or not in the first team, or offloading certain players.

Naisse, Stekelenburg, Martina and Baines contracts end this summer.

Sandro, Dowell, Tarashej and Bolasie have 1.5 years remaining.

Siggerson and Tosun have 2.5 years remaining.

So trying to get our wage bill down is going to be very hard until at least this Summer, even then it will not come down by much.

Hope this helps in putting a prospective on what Ed02 is trying to explain in regards to our wage bill.

I missed off Walcott and Schnids who both have another one and a half years remaining.

hopefully the club can find options for them this summer, sandro being the hardest as he is happy to sit on that wage and just keep going on loan back to spain. god his agent must have hit the jackpot seeing steve walsh coming.

Apart from Tosun Wblue, it is going to be hard to shift any of the others out, no team will buy when they know we will loan the players out.

Is there anyway we can do an insurance job on Sandro? 120k a week isn't it?

Does anyone know if there will be any retrospective action against Albian Ajeti for his blatant headbutt on Mason? Funny how the new FA directive for referees to consult pitchside monitors for VAR incidents that could result in red cards was followed in all other Premier League games at the weekend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2020 13:23:17
nothing as VAR reviewed it and deemed it as not red card worthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2020 14:39:02
I thought the ruling was that as the ref hadn't given anything, it could still be retrospectively punished by review, regardless of VAR. Maybe I'm wrong, but the guys in the MOTD studio seemed to think so too.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2020 15:26:07
From what GL said on MOTD the fa can look at it and then decide if any action needs taking in other words it's Everton so nowt will happen.

Sorry guys but if you look closely you can clearly see Mason used telekinesis to force Ajeti's head back before smashing the back of his head with his nose. Best expect Mason getting charged with foul play.

VAR review of the head butt and awarded Liverpool the premier league title,
I was a little surprised Worst Ham weren’t awarded a penalty and Holgate sent off.
In all seriousness I thought VAR would be a good thing but it appears the powers that be have conspired to make it a mockery and created new laws to justify its existence with this microscopic offside analysis.
