Ed02 could you really be Simon Jordan as you have spoke about the issues with Carlo bringing his son with him as an assistant manager and the only other person I have heard say that is Simon Jordan.

This is what my brother sent me. it's the Mirror I know, but i states players current wages at Everton in light of fans anger

I know the money isn't ours, I know footballers earn a bucket load but some of these wages are laughable, especially as it impacts ability to bring in new players with the FFP rules.

Should be able to knock a third off that without even affecting our quality and workrate.

In lots of ways now I hope we donā€™t sign anyone in this window, agents will be trying to get their failures a big fat wage deal at Everton, even the loan deals are a ripoff, unless we can off load and bring in at the same time, but then the signings in January never really hit the ground running and never sure if they will fit in, could be just another waste of the clubā€™s money.

I wouldnā€™t necessarily agree. In 2016 we signed Naisse, Tarashaj, and some bloke called Matty Foulds for a combined 20 million - honestly!

I am puzzled by Kieran Dowell. He's a player of obvious technical ability who seems to play in patches on loan but ultimately that loan goes wrong. Does he need some sort of help from a sports psychologist?

He just seems to lack energy. Guy is a very good player, and I thought he would be at the heart of our midfield. Would probably be better suited to playing I need Italy.

Well he's learned from the best hasn't he.

10 Jan 2020 10:23:54
He was good last year at forest (dropped off abit sure the manager changed) he's a player in which the right loan wasnt found this season and had huge amounts of pressure on him to fill the gap left by mason mount at derby, a player he is nowhere near the same level of, was never the right move and should have gone to someone like wigan in the first place.

I know a lot of you think I bang on too much over introducing and promoting our own youth, home grown players, sorry it's a bit annoying to some but that's the way I see it.
Everton have just made public the wages, weekly and yearly figures for the first team squad. Sigurdsson 100k Walcott 100k Mina 120k and many more in the 70k+ I know it's the norm now to pay huge amounts to get the best talent but I think not enough is done at Everton to ensure that we get a constant flow of young talent coming through.
Maybe we need to invest more money into the 2nd team coaching staff, we need our local home grown youngsters in the first team squad. then maybe we will not need 20 x 70k+ so called super stars players that haven't really got their heart and soul in Everton.
6 super stars, yes, of really high quality on wages what ever it takes could be way forward this will be a lot cheaper than 20 + giving just normal performances; this way our youngsters will look up to and learn from these true professionals and above all save the club millions and what's needed even more than ever is to create a better atmosphere and feeling in the club.
Something has to change at Everton we seem to have a deep rooted problem at the club but that's for the owners to sort out especially Brands
It looks highly likely now that we will need to bring in new players, in this window, hopefully to get us safe for the next season but surely we all know that going out now recruiting in January increasing the wage bill is not ideal for the club but sadly without doubt it is needed.
Because of the current first team situation its probably not the ideal time to introduce a few of our most promising youngsters, frustrating situation.
I just hope the policy of recruiting our youngsters into the first team squad will change for the next and future seasons.

{Ed002's Note - This is Brand's job. Don't start looking for more staff.}

09 Jan 2020 10:18:33
The money players is paid is crazy and that in itself causes issues, I donā€™t think weā€™ve recruited wisely as most fans on here have already said. Weā€™ve brought in players on ridiculous wages who are happy to go through the motions to pick up their millions.

Iā€™m sure itā€™s the same in most professions If somebody is getting paid more than someone and doing a poor job but getting away with it it doesn't encourage the one on a smaller wage doing more. This then breeds contempt and I think thatā€™s what weā€™re currently seeing on the pitch, when your top earners canā€™t be bothered why do the ones on less want to bust a gut?

We need to get players who want to play for the shirt and see the money as an added bonus, I have no idea about recruitment but when clubs are touting players about it suggests there may already be issues with the player.

We need to be looking at recruiting players with character and those who want to improve themselves and would jump at the opportunity to play for our club, not these mercenaries weā€™ve been recently purchasing who have clearly come for the wage.

Not sure how we do this but in any normal job youā€™d interview the person to judge their suitability for the job, Gauge their character, their reason for wanting to join and what they can bring to the role. Is this the same in football?

I don't think that focusing on wages is the way forward.

i'd like to see brands have a couple of staff purely working on our loans out side of thing, i know obviously we have people keeping tracks on our loan deals, but too often enough now our players either aren't getting out on loan (even though they're good enough to be out on loan) o rare going to the wrong place and stagnating, its not about just shipping them out to random teams, the options need to be seriously looked at as a home for your future talent and a place that he could really grow, not just shipped off blindly because the club enquiring have said 'he'll play'

Just like every Everton supporter, I have my share of gripes, all of which have been well aired on this site, but in the end all we can do is turn up on the weekend and support the team, and yes their may be some players collecting big pay packets, for less than full commitment, but that is a matter for the manager and the board, we, can do nothing about that, their are player, who should be ashamed of their lack of heart, but we will move on and be still standing long after they have gone.

It is also a matter for Everton's PR department. Seems to me it needs a complete overhaul.

{Ed002's Note - It has nothing to to with PR.}

JCW - are the fans becoming a part of the problem? We spend our money on the club merchandise we still go to the games and pay our hard earned cash to watch the match and watch the drivel weā€™re served up. Weā€™ll have a moan at the match and on sites like these but does it actually achieve anything?

What if fans didnā€™t attend? Admittedly the gate receipts are a tiny portion of income but if you started to have empty stadiums would the powers that be pay more attention? the tv companies have already paid their money for this tv rights but would maybe think about showing the team in live games In the future and look at reducing the share of the money on offer in future?

These players have been garbage all season it's fair to say most of this team is on it's way out the door, Ancelotti won't care if you where 45p or 45 mill, and neither should we, all he wants is the players to do what's asked of them, and there lies the problem, if any of you thought we was going to improve over night maybe you should look at yourselves, this is going to take some time and patience "again" don't be surprised if it's a couple of seasons before we shed our mid table status.

It's to do with a faulty recruitment system. The owner, board and fans want instant success. We bring in a DOF in Brands who 's expertise is recruiting young talent and then with the manager nurturing them which takes time. He is then expected to go out and get players who can perform right away and the club has to pay over the odds and ridiculous wages for mediocre performers. Don't get me started on the manager recruitment fiasco.
I hope we have started to get it right now in the Ancelotti appointment, let him and Brands do their jobs without pressure from Moshiri, Kenwright or the board. It will take time and the fans have to be patient. We have tried the instant success route and it does not work. Providing we are not in danger of being relegated their is no need for panic and this year should be for building and getting rid of the problem players.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His real expertise is building a system from the ground up which will see the same style flow through the players from the kids to the first team. Add to this youngsters who can come in and come through makes a sustainable and successful system that also generates money-making attractive football. Sadly that is not what Everton want.}

09 Jan 2020 14:07:43
Itā€™s evident in bucket loads at LFC Ed.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about, sorry.}

09 Jan 2020 18:54:54
Thanks for the reply Ed002. I can't see much point in recruiting this type of person and the not letting him do hid job, The big question now is "can Brands and Ancelotti work together to create this type of culture at the club? " If not then I can't see Brands staying for much longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not the job of Carlo A to do that - his sole objective is the first team and getting some points in. And right now I understand that Brands will be assisting him by dealing with the agents of the players that have no future at the club such as Cenk Tosun (who probably has a better chance than most at finding a new home in January). Gylfi Sigurdsson has apparently been told that he can also leave - but it might be tough to find a buyer.}

09 Jan 2020 19:22:23
Of course it has an element of PR.

{Ed002's Note - Please do explain.}

Might be a daft question but I'll ask anyway, obviously with the 1st team in such a poor state, and such a main focus point, is there any sight of the seeds of the system brands implements I'd imagine it's something that's takes a while. I hear it's not what everton want but if that's the case why even bother hiring the guy?
