Upon initially hearing it will cost 100 million just to drain the dock I was shocked. But it got me thinking how many unexploded Ww2 bombs must be in the Mersey!? . That's probably a decent chunk for specialist detection equipment that you would presume they will use?

Anyone in construction know if that's likely a concern they will have?

Alright mate I've worked up an down the mersey stretching from Garston to Crosby for a few years now an we have sites right where we are building the new ground I've seen afew things being dragged out but never seen or heard of a ww2 bomb being found in there or the docks surrounding it, i can't see it costing that much to fill a dock in as there are new apartments being built on a dock that's recent been done.

I think that will be thought of, just like any site on land.

Yeah still trying to find a specialist detection unit to find that Arteta money😂.

A right cheers for the info! . And yeah Charlie that’s true but I saw something a few years back in school about the persons specifically targeting parts of the dock and liver building area. Obviously with it being under water and untouched for Years it would be pretty likely to find a few there imo.

Who knows but all things considered it’s a massive job to even get the foundations ready. Fingers crossed we get it going by next summer

Sir Loin - I think the £100 million will be to drain, fill in and get all foundations completed. Draining it is just a case of pumping it out whether it needs to be treated before pumping it into the Mersey or not won’t cost £100m and I worked on Liverpool One actually doing the underground car park etc and a WW2 bomb was found then it isn’t actually that uncommon.
