People keep going on about the club spending 500k on transfers, but their is never any mention of the 270k they recouped in sales?
Yes the money was poorly spent but what do you expect when you constantly change managers. A good example being the 47m Sam spent on two players that we really didn't need.
In reality we have spent about the same as Utd or City spend on 2/ 3 players.

Problem is Woburn that doesn’t fit with the current agenda there appears against the club.

Klopp in his time at Liverpool has spent more than we have in the same time, however all we hear is how much we’ve spent.

Problem is we spend big on players who then have very little if any resale value.

Liverpool in the other hand do get very good deals when it comes to sales so their Net spend is less.

There's still people p. ed that we never went down or haven't been punished for our flirtation with ffp. Leave then to moan and groan all they like I say!
The wasted money is annoying but I suppose we could be in a far worse position on the back of that. At least we have a starting platform to get ourselves out of the mess that the board have created for us. Not an ideal situation at all but hopefully it's manageable.
Hard to compare us to LFC, GD, they may have spent a lot of cash over the same period but they got a lot better value for money than us.
We just need the board to wise up and learn from their mistakes. Failing that, if we get bought out then the new owners should use the Moshiri blueprint as how not to run a premier League club.

I think it’s perfectly ok to compare us to Liverpool.

As I said in my comment they have spent a similar if not larger amount than us but because they’re savvy with recruitment and sales their net spend is less.

We should take a leaf out of their book and try to follow their recruitment model rather than ours which is overpaying on overpriced overrated and over the top players.

Hopefully going forward Thelwell addresses this issue and we start to recruit younger players who we can develop and if move on do so at a profit.

Liverpools transfer business is on another level to us. A champions league level to be specific. They will attract the best out there, we won’t. They spend more or less than us, I actually don’t care.

Or put it this way. It’s like 2 people having a gift card of equal value but one is for Waitrose while the other Aldi. Now I wonder who’ll host the best dinner party off that spree?

14 Jun 2022 13:30:37
The one that knows how to throw the best dinner party.

Aldi all day long.

The 1 who spends it all on ale.
