Folks, this was a darn good window for transfers. If the right striker wasn't available for something other than silly money, don't waste it. And what if he bought Mr. Perfect Nine and his hamstring goes ka-pow in training, will folks be mad that RK didn't buy a spare?

And if we bought Mr. Perfect Nine for 100 million, somebody would fuss that Calvert-Lewin and Sandro aren't getting playing time.

The team is better and deeper. Last year we won with Lukaku or lost without him. Now Plan B (3 or 4 players scoring 10 each) is Plan A.

Mark my words doom-Sayers: Everton will rock and roll this year. Now get positive and get behind the boys.

My sentiments exactly NBTB.

Ditto to that mate, far too many doom slayers on here at the mo.

100% with you there. The negativity amongst some blues is astounding and embarrassing. We've been beaten once only this year in all competitions, is that not a good start?

{Ed025's Note - i tried to instill to you all the importance of patience when we started this journey pierre, this is basically a new team who dont know each others play patterns or moves, these things take time and rome was not built in a day...but if everton supporters were on that job im sure it would have been mate..

Some posters on here have never experienced a successful period of time. But for those who have we can remember how bleak it was looking under Kendall until halfway through one cup match it all changed. The team until then had new players that weren't gelling.

But when it did, boy we looked unstoppable at times. I loved those days and will never forget the tangible swing of success in our favour.

So if it's looking a bit disjointed or the signings aren't looking to be as good as we'd hoped. Remember the last time we were the best there was. That should give you all hope.

{Ed025's Note - i remember it well ace, one goal from inchy and the rest is history mate..

I to remember that game talk about lows and highs! But today Managers do not have the luxury of time, they live and die on a clubs success, which is why the top teams buy top players and look for instant results! I am happy we develop youngsters but as good a window as we had I'm sure RK is disappointed not to have bought in a new number 9, and money would have had nothing to do with it!

Liverpool fans and Spurs fans go on about seasons of transition. This is our first genuine season of transition and people are moaning. We have a better squad than last season even without a Lukaku. We will consolidate 7th then push on next season.

What's the story behind this? What game was it? What exactly happened until that game? Thanks.

Everton v Oxford Utd 1984 League Cup. Adrian Heath equalised with 10 mins to go (saving Howard Kendall the sack) and we won the replay. We reached both the League and FA cup finals winning the latter and the rest as they say is history :-)

Toffee Ace, I to remember that Team. That 80's side particularly in the tackle always doubled up, it was a wonder to watch. The pressure we managed in attack was also phenominal. The difference between then and now is increased speed, stamina and overall fitness means that system is very hard to play.

Good post wakka! Some of my posts have probably been filed under the "doom Sayers" and negative inbox, but to be fair some also of what I have read is hope and praying beyond any rational thoughts. Better squad than last year, that only applies if the teams above you have not strengthend, and the one we finished closest too has, oh my word it has. People I was there in the 80s when we had x3, yes 3 years of brilliance whilst our neighbours beat us in both cup finals and I sat and watched us fall from this peak. I pray I do that things will change, but again we have MORE players who are currently in our squad who want out than players seemingly wanting to join us. All I ask is WTF is going on. (And don't get me started on Kitbag, Umbro or that kit we are wearing at home this season. NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM, folks NIL SATIS NISi OPTIMUM.

All correct above and to add to the posts, we brought in two old heads in Reid and Gray, could Rooney be the one to fire this team up like they did, big ask but you never know.
