I don't follow our youth and no longer have access to 'in the know'. Do we even have big strong strikers to replace Beto and his son.

18 Oct 2025 19:32:23
No. We have Graham and Benjamin, neither of whom are physically great, Benjamin has a bit of pace, Graham is like Cannon was in our academy, athletically average but known as a decent finisher.
Neither will make it to our first team if we are being honest. Will have careers in league 1 and 2 maybe.
18 Oct 2025 20:15:34
Chrs!
18 Oct 2025 20:48:59
Reckon we should put a bid in for haaland in jan probably would jump at the chance to get away from that Spanish know it all aren't all Norwegians half scouse anyway.
18 Oct 2025 19:03:28
Who bought beto and Barry? who where the scouts watched them? Who ga e the OK for the money to be released? , where they good at scoring goals at one time or have they always been this bad, if so why dud we buy them?

{Ed025's Note - lets hope so mate..
18 Oct 2025 19:51:01
We spent over £60m on Barry and Dibling. Would have preferred us to go after Wissa or Vlahovic or even Woltemade. £60m!
18 Oct 2025 21:01:44
Barry won 3 headers so that's a sign he's finally been encouraged to believe he's 6ft5. Ok 1 went out for a throw and 2 others pinged off in random directions but he won 100% of his aerials which is a big improvement. People saying if Beto had scored we could have won. Well, with that logic we could have let in 7. So that's 7-2.
18 Oct 2025 21:38:12
Yeah the same Wissa that has a knee injury ruling him out for the rest of the season, what a signing he would’ve been.
18 Oct 2025 23:08:15
Thought he was only out until November Swan. Would have preferred Woltemade to Barry. Saying that, I’d have preferred Vardy or even Antonio at this rate.
Wonder if they tried to cox the likes of David or that Gumundsson I think we were linked with. £60m on two players who sit on the bench and are not ready yet. £60m. We could have bought a striker who would at least give us more threat in front of goal.
19 Oct 2025 03:19:17
Vardy is finished at the top level, his pace has gone and Antonio is an even worse finisher than Beto, he’s also very very injury prone.
19 Oct 2025 14:38:30
What makes you think that even if we put 60m down for him, that he would come to us?
19 Oct 2025 22:24:01
I’m not a fan of Vardy or Antonio Swan but they may have scored more than Beto this season.
Can’t guarantee anything BN but we’ve seemed to mess up on strikers around £25m mark. We desperately need someone who knows where the net is and it looks like we are throwing significant amounts of money at players who ‘might’ be alright in the future.
Still holding you to Dibling getting more than Harrison BN and it doesn’t look good so far!
20 Oct 2025 02:54:18
Vardy on a free was a no brainer for me. He may have lost a yard of pace but he definitely knows how to find the net. with he creativity behind him he would just need to be in the box to get chances.
18 Oct 2025 18:01:45
Lack of a striker is killing us.
{Ed025's Note - it is DMS, the same old tactic of playing a cabbage and replacing him with a turnip at half time is achieving nothing mate, but it is something we will have to put up with until at least January i expect, lets hope that we can muddle trough and get results in spite of it and stay clear of the dreaded relegation battle..

18 Oct 2025 18:24:01
Been saying that for ever it’s such a bloody shame we were the better Team first half and could have gone in 2 nil up.
18 Oct 2025 18:25:24
So frustrating because we are a good side. Beaten by a freak of nature today. Teams need to swamp the players behind him.
18 Oct 2025 18:28:02
Couldn't have put it better myself ed.
18 Oct 2025 18:41:41
Ivan Toney in January is a must, dunno when Delap is back, but Guiu on loan would be great too.
18 Oct 2025 19:16:13
Given our strikers I didn't really expect much more and, now we have Spurs to contend with next weekend. Hope January sees an accomplished striker bought. As ed 025 says in the meantime muddle through as best we can.
18 Oct 2025 20:41:46
Mateta from palace would be good for us but can't see palace selling him. Larssen from Wolves doesn't look bad either but I guess both wouldn't be available to us. Agree with Swan117 that Toney would be very good signing, but could we afford his obscene wages that he'll be on in Saudi.
18 Oct 2025 23:59:18
400k a week.
18 Oct 2025 16:35:47
City were crap up to their first goal we should have been 2 up at half time, all these chances we are not taking are costing us.

18 Oct 2025 16:39:58
Blame the board, they didn’t buy a proven striker in the summer, all us fans could see it and now it’s coming back to bite the team on the bum. We paid £45 million on a very young inexperienced Dibling who may or may not be one for the future when we should have really spending that money on a top forward…we desperately need a proven striker in January!
18 Oct 2025 17:07:09
Can’t get all the players in we need in one window we spent £113 million, I can’t get my head around why we can’t play one of our under 21 strikers can’t do any worse that what we have.
18 Oct 2025 17:43:44
Because none of our under 21 strikers are good enough to even offer what Beto has so far (hold up, work rate) and playing them for no reason other than “well they can’t be worse” is not going to work.
18 Oct 2025 18:03:23
Give the lad a velcro top.
18 Oct 2025 18:26:18
Nor does playing a totally useless one either, don’t try we will never know mate.
18 Oct 2025 19:02:53
Work rate because he runs around a bit without actually doing anything of note. But hold up play? His second touch is usually a tackle, he puts us under pressure far too much with his pass poor hold up play.
18 Oct 2025 19:33:52
I am not saying Beto is good, while his hold up isn’t good, he can at least sometimes do it. Our academy players would be physically broken by any of the premier league centre backs.
{Ed025's Note - like it or not Swan we are stuck with him until the next window im afraid...maybe even longer, i would like us to play a different style of play if im honest and get away from this boot the ball long to a target man especially when the said target man is extremely poor, we have some very good attacking players who can cut through a defence rather than hope for a second phase ball coming off defenders mate, unfortunately David is set in stone and has always had a pragmatic approach to the game so even if we had Haaland i doubt things would change much..but it is what it is..
18 Oct 2025 20:01:49
We genuinely haven’t had a good striker since Lukaku. To think he got dogs abuse just because he didn’t track back and had a dodgy first touch, is hilarious to look back on. Miles above anything we’ve had since the 80s.
18 Oct 2025 20:05:52
Sometimes do it is not enough we need to start scoring and getting points something has to change Beto is not the answer.
18 Oct 2025 20:44:19
Never got why Lukaku was given abuse for not tracking back. He was our main source of goals and he was no good in our box.
18 Oct 2025 15:52:58
Two glorious chances for Beto first half and as usual he fluffs them, he is abysmal.

18 Oct 2025 16:12:40
He is a terrible terrible footballer.

18 Oct 2025 15:55:20
Good movement to shake off the defender. If only he had a longer leg GB yeah? ?
Beto done more in that half than Haaland did and we’re in the Eitihad.
The hating on Beto is boring we all already know we need a striker mate.
18 Oct 2025 16:16:51
As boring as all the misses mate.
18 Oct 2025 16:26:26
Don’t hate anyone mate.
18 Oct 2025 19:01:28
It's not hating, it's facing up to facts. Some of you just can't admit how shocking he is yet are first to accuse others of hating him!
What is boring is the constant 'he works hard' what does that actually mean? It's another way of saying he's a nice fella, runs around a lot (without actually doing anything useful) but he's not good enough for the level he is playing.
At this point there is absolutely no argument, he is a poor footballer who needs to be sold this January. He is one of the worst forwards to ever put on an Everton shirt.
18 Oct 2025 06:18:27

18 Oct 2025 09:33:35
Never forget Moshiri wanted to sell us to them and Textor, got us the stadium yes but tried his best to kill the club at the same time.
18 Oct 2025 09:55:59
It went so toxic and bad he would have sold to anyone to get shut, just glad it collapsed and is over.
17 Oct 2025 17:53:22
Ed025/ All - Grealish unavailable and possibly Keane out. O'Brien may have to move central. What would your starting 11 be against City?
A few of our players can cover so many different positions like Garner and KDH. If Keane doesn't play it might be a blessing not having O'Brien against Doku. Do we put Jimmy there and then KDH can drop back and Charlie goes in his favoured 10, Ndiaye on his favoured left-side for 1 week and Dibling on the right. That does bring into play the Beto/ Barry/ Neither conundrum. If Garner is at right back one of the two simply has to play or alternatively we go Coleman and shift Alcaraz or Ndiaye up top.
{Ed025's Note - for me we have to sacrifice Jimmy and play him at right back BN, a shame because he has been excellent in midfield for me, it has to be Alcaraz in midfield with Beto up top im afraid because Barry will hopefully be busy cutting up the oranges for half time mate, as much as i like Seamus Doku will just be too quick for him imo..

17 Oct 2025 19:09:34
Beto up front not for me Ed any chances we get of getting a goal ithas to go in the net mate, Alcaraz has better chances than him in doing that.
{Ed025's Note - i agree that its not ideal GB but it is what it is, we are not going to change our style overnight and the long ball game is part of Davids DNA, the fact is that we play for the second ball off a target man mate and Alcaraz is just not that type of player imo..
17 Oct 2025 21:24:14
2-1 Everton tomorrow with a last min goal by Beto ?.
17 Oct 2025 23:49:18
Ed25 I honestly would put keane upfront for target man haha.
{Ed025's Note - i think its a decent option Bretto but cant see it happening mate..
18 Oct 2025 09:36:46
Really wish Rohl was fit, if we drop KDH back we will be overrun in midfield and bullied. But we need Alcaraz because of his pace and connection with Beto, but he’d be wasted out wide.
Tough decisions for the manager, Garner has to play right back for me, as good as he’s been in midfield, I think that’s where he will end up. He has good defensive instincts and great end product.
Playing anyone other than Beto or Barry upfront is pointless, they’ll just get bullied by whoever City have in defence and none of Alcaraz or Ndiaye are fast enough to play balls over the top to.
18 Oct 2025 14:10:46
Surely we still don't have to name 2 keepers on the bench, their must be another outfield player to make up the numbers.
17 Oct 2025 16:58:13
I have to say, it is much nicer listening to these pre-match pressers on the drive home with Moyes answering the questions, than it was with the 'Ginger Mourinho'.
Instead of the general smarminess, the self-comparisons to Pep, the limitations he put on his players with his pre-match waffle or the tiresome catchphrases about "changing the story " or "the hard yards". You get Moyes speaking well about the players and instilling trust, backing them (Pickford, Tarkowski and Beto) but never going over board. Commenting on the work that Beto is doing to get better was smart. Aware we have him until January regardless, so it is wise to back the lad, whilst in the background making sure we have a striker come in.
Wouldn't half be funny if Barry started ahead of him on Saturday now though!

17 Oct 2025 17:39:27
Would like to see Alcaraz up front mate.
17 Oct 2025 17:56:55
Not against it GB mate. If Keane is out do you go Garner RB or his best position in the middle? If he is right back that means either Dibling or Iroegbunam have to play, if we want Charlie up top.
17 Oct 2025 19:12:13
Just don’t feel Beto is the man to get us the goals, we will get chances to score just don’t want him in the Team we have to try something different.
17 Oct 2025 20:00:33
We need to be quick and direct when we do get the ball with players running in behind the space city leave. got to be clinical.
17 Oct 2025 20:28:51
Want a win and think we will but a point would be good.
{Ed025's Note - i think it will be a war of attrition myself GB, i expect us to be on the back foot for most of the game mate and i expect very little..
17 Oct 2025 21:15:33
It’ll be like Anfield all over again but without the spark that is Grealish. Expecting a whooping tomorrow.
{Ed025's Note - unfortunately BR...so am i mate.. :(
18 Oct 2025 09:39:08
I don’t think anyone can doubt Beto’s work rate, it’s the talent that is the issue. He’s frustrating but I like him, no matter how bad things have got, he always gives 100%.
As for the Moyes and Dyche comparisons, while Moyes can be a bit of a loser when it comes to playing away at big teams. He always tries to win home games against anyone.
Dyche went into every game trying to get a point no matter what.
18 Oct 2025 12:10:39
Don’t agree while Beto plays we will continue to lose points which we can’t afford to do.
17 Oct 2025 07:43:45
Morning all just want anyones opinion or even any of the eds can help us I want to buy me mate the everton kit but i can't afford the price here is there any websites where I can get it from abroad cheaper if possible thanks.
{Ed001's Note - we can't tell you mate, sorry, if we allow people to tell you that we would get shut down these days. There are places to get them, but they are very hot on copyright stuff now, we had our final warning for allowing people to share stuff like that and where to watch matches.}

JB and Rohl could be on the bench i read. is keane fit because if not O'brien will be in the middle won't he.
17 Oct 2025 13:29:21
Coleman has started the last two Irish games just in front of O'Brien and it worked well. Why not play him there against City to shore up that side against the dangerous Doku.
17 Oct 2025 14:19:27
I hope he isn't fit Ron because like you say O'Brien will be in the middle and nowhere near Doku. Recipe for disaster right there.
