Alot of our plaudits go to Grealish, Ndiaye, Gana etc but one plauer not mentioned much is Michael Keane. I think he's been the more solid out of out 2 centre backs since season started.
{Ed025's Note - he has been good Dentie but made a couple of errors today mate..
30 Aug 2025 21:21:28
He has definitely been better than Tarks this season.

Agree with u Dentie, he’s shown his commitment by staying and has stepped up. But, agree with Ed25 he’s made errors, personally I think their 2nd goal today was his fault not Myko’s as Keano let ball run across his path. Great CBs know clear first!
Our season, imo rests on Jarred playing and being fit.
{Ed025's Note - or getting a right back and putting Jake in there..

I think we need that RB Ed25. O’Brien has done well but he isn’t a season long answer at RB plus I think he may seize his chance as a CB ahead of Keano and Tarks who Looks below his usual self this season imo. Maybe his age or not yet fully fit but I think Jake could possibly take his place alongside Jarred this season in centre of defence.
{Ed025's Note - im thinking the same PHH, hes done very well as a stop gap mate but feel he lacks a bit of pace and positional sense at times..
30 Aug 2025 22:18:58
Yep and as RB he duesnt threaten or link on rhs.
Not a criticism, he’s great as a cover but 6:6 is a Jack Reacher stunt double or a commanding CB not a RB.

O’Brien and JB are the future for sure. We’re building a good squad. Don’t think we should be investing in more over 30s now, unless they’re loans.
30 Aug 2025 22:59:07
Keane won the ball back high up field for 2nd goal. Playing well.
{Ed025's Note - hes a good back up Cookie but still prone to odd howler mate, but no complaints from me...they cannot all be worldies..

As I said earlier and pleased others noticed, both goals down to CB's today and honestly surprising. Tarks hasn't cleared his cobwebs yet (3 games) and today Keane showed mistakes we all know he has. The positive though was an Everton that didn't collapse once they got 2 back.

Absolute dms I was waiting for the collapse and didn't happen.

Would liked to have seen Keane developed into a defensive midfielder and back up to Gueye. He always seems better when he’s not playing near the CB position.
Thought Myko and Keane could have dealt better with the second goal. Myko out of position for their first as Keane ended up on the left by the touch line closing down the player.
Tarks looks like he’s in another slump like large parts of last season. Hopefully a RB who can take on a player and whip in a cross arrives soon. OBrien looks a little lost sometimes when attacking. He’s normally solid defensively but no Coleman when pushing forward. Looking forward to seeing him and JB form a partnership in the future.

I think Tarks has been great the past few seasons but atm isn't as good as Keane, maybe age has caught up with him Definitely Branthwaite and O'brien once fit and a new right back is found.
If we get two full backs in, I'd be happy. Whatever happens, it's been our best window for years. Well done Moysey, Kinnear and the owners.

Tarks will come good again. Hasn't had the preseason he needed. Probably not Dyche fit at the moment but his experience will shine through after the break.

Tarks hasn't been at the races yet but he will get back to the levels he has set previously. I think the 2nd goal we conceded shouldn't just be laid at MK, VM had a part to play in that one. I'm on me hols and had a few beers before the game started son I could be wrong on this, but to me I thought MK got a shout to leave the ball by VM, he definitely stopped himself at the last minute. Even if it was down to MK, at least he didn't revert to type and crumble like he has in the past. He's doing a decent job of filling in for JB right now and, as some rightly point out, his form has been a lot better than that of Tarks. Great 3 points away from home, made up for all those that go to the away games religiously. They've seen some shocking away games over the last few years but at least they know we have a chance of nicking a result these days.
