Super happy with business so far. COYB ??.

{Ed077's Note - Grealish is coming off a season of not playing because of being drunk and unmotivated. Huge risk, not too much upside as I see it.

11 Aug 2025 12:34:54
With an option! Smart by the club.

11 Aug 2025 12:54:09
Think he will get his fire back in his belly at Everton, he will feel loved.

11 Aug 2025 12:53:31
Ed077! Is that accurate? Or are you just on the wind up?

{Ed077's Note - you guys really don't know that Grealish didn't play much for City last season? He never got going after the long treble win celebration.

11 Aug 2025 13:14:45
I suppose if he was on top form, we wouldn’t be signing him. He played 31 times for City last season though, that’s hardly not playing. We have to hope that he has a point to prove, and proves it. I’d say there’s the potential for a pretty big upside if he can recapture the form of a couple of seasons ago.

11 Aug 2025 13:29:34
Exactly, JB. If reports are true and we are paying a total of 15m for this deal, we're still saving ourselves another 30m or so on top of that if we went for someone else of his calibre and ability. Good deal all round, let's hope he's got that fire in his belly again and has a good season for us. Win win for me.

11 Aug 2025 13:48:25
Hopefully he will be motivated to play at the WC and that’ll keep him off the booze. If he plays 30 times this season (like last season) I’ll be happy with that. I understand what you’re saying Ed77 - £12m is a lot to risk if it doesn’t work out - but I cannot remember the last time I was genuinely intrigued about a signing (I guess it’s the hope that kills you) .

{Ed077's Note - Grealish played more than 30 minutes in a PL match only 6 times last season. He didn't play huge minutes last season.

11 Aug 2025 13:51:27
You make out that he was drunk all of last season and that is the reason he wasn't playing. He had a huge blowout over the summer break after winning the treble, which he was an integral part of.

The whole drinking thing is so exaggerated.

By all accounts he has been grafting over summer and is in top nick. He will be a great loan signing and will elevate us with consummate ease.

Do you really think Moyes will not have ironed out any of this with him before making a move.

{Ed077's Note - that was the reason his season never really got going last year. He was drunk and in celebration mode for far too long and was always chasing behind on his fitness.

All this talk of him being an alcoholic is total nonsense. Have you not learned that the media stir the pot and make up absolute lies.

The lad won the treble and went on a bender. So what. Go and enjoy the moment.

From there city have strong competition in every position and Grealish never really suited the tactics as well as others on the squad. So his playing time was limited.

Saying he’s an unmotivated alcoholic is ridiculous.

11 Aug 2025 14:27:31
Regardless of Ed’s opinion. As I see it to call him drunk and unmotivated would be hearsay so opinion it is at best (although I’m not in a position to disagree either) . Grealish is clearly a gifted player who would improve our quite honestly impotent side no end, even if he’s got issues.

I’m excited about this as many supporters of a mid to bottom of the league team would be. So let’s all try and strike a balance of excitement and realism but more importantly give this guy our full support. Who knows how much good he could do for our beaten up club.
COYB! NSNO!

You hit the nail on the proverbial head with the Grealish regarding the ability and excitement factor, he is a brilliant signing.

Everyone is entitled to opinions of course but everyone is equally entitled to respond to them, especially on a fans forum.

Whilst it is no secret that Grealish went on a massive ale-ridden summer, which he was fully entitled to do in my eyes, especially after achieving what he achieved. It is entirely different to suggest that the reason he wasn't playing last season was because of being a drunk.

As MK rightly said, the rags always fuel the fire.

There is no way Moyes hasn't determined where his head is at before bringing him in.

The lad is a boyhood Villa fan and went on to captain his club. Got a move to the best team in the league and then won the treble. If he did lose a bit of motivation, under the demands of consecutive seasons with Pep, it is understandable.

He clearly knew early that he would be moving on this summer and judging by his videos, he looks like he has been making sure he is ready for any move.

I think the prospect for Grealish to move to a club like Everton, a club that he can draw comparisons to Villa, with their rich heritage, tradition, trophies (albeit not for a while) and their loyal and passionate fan bases. To go and have the shackles off and enjoy your football again and show the levels before the City move, is as exciting a prospect for him as it is for us.

I hope he comes in and lifts the quality further. We know our defence is a top performing backline. At the opposite end though, Ndiaye spent most of last season trying to make things happen on his own. The addition of Dewsbury-Hall, who is a very intelligent and well-rounded footballer and now Grealish will give players like him so much more time on the ball and stop teams from doubling up on him.

If we go and get someone to balance the right side and a RB. I would love us to go for another striker and rumours are that Moyes may go after an older and more experienced forward.

If the money is there and Newcastle don't move for him, I think Wissa would be a great signing. 18 goals and 6 assists last season, works hard, can interchange with mobile runners like Mbuemo and Schade. Put him as the 9 with Ndiaye, Grealish, a half-decent and fast right winger. That literally turns our attack from a bottom half club to challenging for the European spots.

Depth may not be the best but that is where we hopefully build as the windows pass by.

Excellent response, BN. The lad might have enjoyed his success to excess but I'm quite sure that he never reported back the next season overweight or unfit. Whichever way you splice it, this is a good deal all round for both clubs and the player. Reading the reports, he really wanted to push this deal through so we've all got to be happy that he wants to come to us. Few more in and this has been a great window for us, that didn't look too likely at the start did it?

George best liked a drink red ed manu fans still think he's the best player they ever had still sing bout him.

{Ed077's Note - because Best was that good, despite his drinking habits. Grealish ain't no George Best.
