Just for a bit of fun, name a player we signed, who you loved, but they just didn't reach the heights expected . Mine would be Mo Besic .
Loved his attitude and all action style, but unfortunately injuries played a part and he never really kicked on.
{Ed025's Note - Billy Kenny or Joe Parkinson for me ST, Joe was plagued by injury and Billy had a penchant for marching powder but both could have been so much more mate..

Remember when Mo had Messi in his pocket for that international game and we all thought we had the best DM in the World.

Billy, thought we had a player with the wow factor. Sadly it didn’t pan out that way.

I loved Joe, but like so many he joined us when we were a bad side and senior professionals just got the ball because they were frightened of mistakes instead of guiding youngsters.
I believe we ruined the potential many academy players.

Joe Parkinson for me. Iv injury free he would of carried on being our midfield enforcer for a few more years. Was virtually on an England call up when he got injured. When we signed him from Bournemouth I'm sure they were in old division 4 at the time too.

I may be wrong about this but I'm sure when Besic marked Messi out the game, he was predominantly a centre half and that was his 1st go at playing DM.

Lookman.

Yerry Mina, for me, what a player, if only he has stayed fit.

You lot are probably too young to have seen Tony Kay, one of the best players we ever had, ruined by being stupid and betting on his game before we got him.
{Ed025's Note - i know of him Mike but never seen him, supposed to be a very good player mate..

Bernie Wright from Walsall. Ran his heart out and put himself about but never hit the heights expected.

Lookman is a good shout gb I also reckon Gérard deulofeu one of them deals where you didn't know wwhat to expect am I right he scored on his debut against arsenal aswell then just drifted sadly.

Limpar?

Trouble with Bernie Wright he hit one of our coaches when he came into training still drunk, end of.

BlueMike, I was lucky enough to see Tony Kay play. I remember when we won the league in 1963. Last game of the season at Goodison against Fulham, who included Johnny Haynes who was a clever midfielder, the first player on £100 a week. Kay had him in his pocket, hardly got a kick.

Trouble with Bernie Wright is he wasn't really that good.

I’ll go with Blue Mike and Old blue sighs with Tony Kay. Played Left Half and signed from Sheffield Wednesday. Wednesday had good players in those days. Can’t remember if they all played in the same team but they also had Albert Quixall who went to Man United and Jackie Sewell who I think went to Villa.
